Anyhow, um, yeah. Respect Metroid's most recurring/significant villain here. Like some other antagonists out there, Ridley's kinda proven himself to be a God among video game bosses.
Regardless of what my forum name may imply though, I'm still just a fan, not fanboy.

Heh. Yeah. I pretty much feel the same way, as he's final boss material, so it's time he became one (and not just as some incomplete mechanical clone of the original). Still pretty cool though that there's both a Mecha version of him and Bowser (which appeared in that one theme park stage in Super Mario Sunshine, as you probably know).

Well, if you only typed in "Ridley" when doing the search, chances are, you didn't get much (if any) screenshots of the dragon from Metroid, and instead got search results of some other Ridley (like Ridley Scott who directed the alien movies or something). I saw some pretty cool images of Ridley when I was browsing google, but some of them may not be there anymore.

Meh. I don't know. Will have to check later (just before I start posting what "uber" pictures I can find ).

That wasn't a prototype Silver. IGN.com shows that. And by the way according to many Nazo was just a codeword and it even suggested that Hyper Sonic would have made an appearence in Sonic X or possibly a fusion of Sonic and Shadow but what the picture shows is never made clear. Many have called in Nazo because that's what the picture file's name was.

But Ridley doesn't waste time getting to the fight.

Meh. I heard the game was cancelled a long time ago, but if it's still being hyped over after all this time, perhaps it wasn't after all. Guess we'll have to wait and see...

Either way, I concur that Ridley should return in whatever game that takes place after Fusion.

It was said it was cancelled but Nintendo has since said it never was.

Metroid Fusion is the last game in the serious thus far. The Metroid prime serious takes place between Metroid NES and Metroid II: Return of Samus.

Mother Brain was killed in Super Metroid. Ridley was revived by Pirate tech as Meta-Ridley and we see his coprse in Metroid Fusion revived by the X-Parasite to become even stronger.

And the Metroid race is dead. yes I looked over, Man when I had these games not the New ones but the ones up to SM; I also had a gameboy one they were good but, Plot never was a big issue and some of them I never had the mannual for so I never understood what was going on.

Well, since the last remaining Metroid was destroyed by Mother Brain (at the end of Super Metroid), I'm gonna gather that the Metroid race is pretty much extinct (unless the GF starts up another Metroid Breeding Program or something, which I don't think they'll do since Samus would try to destroy it or something like she kinda did last time, in Fusion).

And it seems ESB -1138 answered everything else.

I don't think all the Metroids are dead. Samus encountered Omega Metroid at the end of Fusion so we know a few must still roam about.

I believe the Omega Metroid Samus encountered at the end was just a specimen that escaped the Restricted Laboratory (the place where they had the Metroid Breeding Program) before it blew up. If there were any other Metroids that escaped that explosion too and "roamed about", they more than likely died with the X-Parasites when the B.S.L. Research Station crashed into SR-388 (destroying both the station and the planet).

Well you forget that the Space Pirates basically helped spread Metroids across the galaxy in the Metroid Prime series so many were not on SR-388.

Yeah. Kraid was at his prime in that game, as was Ridley to an extent (especially as far as the 2-D games go).

I dunno. In terms of 2-D I think Ridley X (Fusion) is Ridley at his prime and overall Omega-Ridley is Ridley's true prime.

I didn't even care about Metroid until Super Smash Bros came out and started to use Samus. Next thing I knew the Gamecube was out; I had Melee and was using Samus more and Metroid Prime came out so I picked it up and gave it a try. At first I didn't like it because the controls were different then most FPS at the time but I tried again and ever since then I have been a Metroid fan!

And he needs to be involved more, I am NOT talking about being in the background, his costumes could be, Omega, X, and mecha.

Yeppers. I like how in that video, that they show Samus in the MP3 ending (with the helmet off) with her reflecting back at what happened to Ridley, rather than the other 3 hunters. That nice little edit the video creator made, along with adding that decently great song, made it an awesome vid.

Heh. Same here I guess, seeing as how they made his death seem rather sad in that vid (like they did with the other 3 hunters' death in the real ending of MP3, with Samus looking back at her time with them and what not before she gets up and enters her ship).

Well, as long as the elemental balance of power of good and evil exists in the Metroid universe, I'm afraid that'll never happen , though perhaps they could have a game with a non-canon or "What if?" story/scenario that features Ridley and the Pirates triumphing over Samus, which then you play as Ridley (which would be like controlling a super-sized Spyro ) or some Space Pirate disciple to take out the Galactic Federation and bring "peace to the galaxy" in the bad guys' point of view.

Maybe... It's highly unlikely, but it still remains a possibility that they'll do one in the distant future.
A few years ago, John Woo had bought the rights to making a Metroid film, which ended up in "production hell" not too long afterwards (in other words, it got cancelled).

Of course, if there comes a day where one successfully manages to start the production of a Metroid movie, one can only wonder which game the movie would be based off of. My guess is, it would be about the original Metroid (or Zero Mission, which is basically an enhanced remake of it), though I'd personally rather them make a movie about either Super Metroid, Metroid Prime (the first one), or MP3. All of those mentioned would have Ridley in the movie anyway, so a live-action film of any of them's fine with me, I guess.

Heh. Speaking of a Metroid movie, there's this fan-made Super Metroid trailer that I came across some time ago (it basically just has Metroid Metal music in the background, and used scenes from other alien movies to make up this fake, but well-made trailer).

Needless to say, a real trailer would have much better special effects (with Samus' suit and what not, rather than that plastic looking one they used in the Japanese Super Metroid commercial).

Well, yeah. Technically, that made no sense (as far as Samus' feelings go). That was just something done for the effect and functionality of the music video.

I always feel sorry Ridley he has suffered allot at the hands of Samus.
Does not stop me blasting him into the next millennium though.

I found this Die-Cast model of Super Metroid once it was great.

It had Sammus holding the metroid in a container, Ridley gripping the end with his mouth gaping Sammus's ship, Her pointing her blaster at him; in the background an explosion with Mother brain reaching out, All on this cylinder like Stand amazing, I think Ridley was gripping into it, it was great.

Sounds cool. MP3 would be a great basis to make a movie on...just don't do it like the game did.

Samus has suffered at the hands of Ridley pretty much just as well though (since he killed her mother in the e-manga posted earlier in this thread, which like the games, is canon to the story).

I found this Die-Cast model of Super Metroid once it was great.

It had Sammus holding the metroid in a container, Ridley gripping the end with his mouth gaping Sammus's ship, Her pointing her blaster at him; in the background an explosion with Mother brain reaching out, All on this cylinder like Stand amazing, I think Ridley was gripping into it, it was great.
Huh. Now that sounds interesting...

By doing it like the game did, if you mean the lack of vocabulary from the people you're able to speak with, then I agree. I don't wanna just hear "I'm sorry. I'm on duty. Can't talk right now" in the movie.

If a movie on MP3 was ever made, it would also be good if they elabored (or showed more detail) on Admiral Dane's character and what not.


Aside from that, I wonder what it would be like if Ridley went from a villain to an anti-hero (like Wolf from Star Fox did). That'd kinda be interesting...

Eh, they didn't look the same to me. One's from Fusion, the other's from Zero Mission. Big difference there.

Anyway Ridley has to be announced in SSBB, You could easily limit him so that he is a fair fighter, even though that would not due him justice at least he will he get to join the brawl.

Even if that's true, it would still do him more justice as a character to make him playable than an uncontrollable CPU boss or an Assist Trophy.

Heck. Ridley would just make an easy punching bag (like Giga Bowser in SSBM) and a very forgettable opponent if he were just a boss in Brawl.

Plus, Ridley has his own theme song remix. You don't see Samurai Goroh, Lyn, or any of the other ATs having their own theme songs now do you?

That basically rules out the Ridley AT possibility... which leaves only playable as an option for him. =)

That was awesome! Ridley pwns all! Oh and I just came up with that idea yesterday and slapped it together. I'll do more featuring Ridley & Kraid in their never ending quest to defeat Samus. I'll have to come up with more ideas for it.

So Funny, WOW we have 5 pages, I must admit I never thought it would go this far, but as long as we the Ridley fans come back I am sure more pages will follow, I also have a question, is Ridley the last of his Kind?

I guess so. Of course the game never actually makes mention if there is more than one Ridley but that would seem pointless to bring him back to life as Meta-Ridley so it seems more than likely that Ridley is the last of his kind.

Unless he has clones, well more clones, or he has children to carry on in there fathers steps, very unlikely but you never now he may have a few swarming around the galaxy somewhere?

Yes. According to the wikipedia page they used to have about him (now it's just been reduced to a mini-article ), it was stated in the manual of the original Metroid (NES) that Ridley is the last of his species, which were native to Zebes.

Unless he's like able to reproduce asexually (by laying eggs by himself to have children or something), it's highly unlikely that there's actually clones/children of him that exist in the Metroid universe, but it's possible, I suppose...

I think what makes Ridley so cool is that there is a lot of mystery surrounding him; like you don't know if he is the true leader of the Space Pirates or just a leader of a squadron or like a general and takes orders from someone else. Putting a lot of backstory to him would take away that which made him so unique. He appears in almost every Metroid game but there's very little information about him.

That is true, Villains are always better when they are mysterious, you are left to your imagination to think up the story to characters, and it gives you allot of freedom to think about it.

Yeah. That's true, but Ridley's species (I like to call them Zebesian Dragons) most likely lived on Zebes long (possibly centuries) before the Chozo arrived. As for how every Zebesian Dragon except Ridley was wiped out, who knows? Maybe the Chozo had something to do with it when they arrived on Zebes...

I guess we both make valid points, but I have to admit the classic villains are always those that have the least amount of history to their name, I mean just look at Bowser and Dr.Eggman.

I just thought it would make you understand him a bit more, to be fair something has to happen to you In order for you to turn out the way you do, for instance Dr. Eggmans grandfather the closest relative Eggman had went insane, now Eggman has stated that he became a scientist like is Grandfather and probably wanted to prove himself to his grandfathers wishes, of destroying/ruling the world since he would ruin it if he controlled it, or he could be angry for his Grandfather's imprisonment and wanted revenge, the same could go for Ridley.
