I downloaded the PS3 demo last night and tis game is pretty friggin' sweet! The graphics are candy, the voice acting is spot on, and the script is even better!

The storyline is such:

Before Adam and Eve were created, God fashioned the Firstborn. Neither light nor dark, both terrible and beautiful to behold, it disturbed the Almighty who banished this flawed creation into the Abyss. There, it waited and watched until it was able to reach out with its power into our world. Seven Sumerian priests met its arrival and fought to contain it, successfully entombing the place of its escape within a great ziggurat. Ever since that time, there would always be a secret order that would train seven warriors to await the Firstborn's attempts to escape. They would always disappear into the ruined city of Al Khalid that had been built atop this bedrock of strife and somehow succeed in banishing the Firstborn back to the Abyss. However, none of these teams have ever returned from their mission.

The Firstborn would make four attempts to escape, each time taking back a piece of the earth to add to its domain. Fragments of time and space would form layers around Al Khalid, entrapping pieces of history within its walls from the time of the ancient Sumerians to World War II. Over time, other conquerors would arrive to claim the city as their own but eventually, the city was forgotten and buried by the sands around it.

The Department of Occult Warfare was created in the 1930s to combat the unexplained and meet Nazi Germany's own research into the paranormal. One of their most brilliant members, Arnold Leach, was recruited in 1962. However, his unscrupulous behavior and nature would eventually have him expelled. He was marked for assassination, and although the operation appeared to be successful, it seems he may have survived.

In Clive Barker's Jericho, players assume the role of the leader of the Jericho Squad – a seven man Special Forces strike team that protects U.S. interests against paranormal threats. Each member of the squad is an expert in modern warfare as well as their own different para-psychological disciplines, including clairvoyance, alchemy, blood magic, exorcism, etc.

Players must lead the Jericho Squad into the flaming ruins of the city, moving block by block towards the dimensional rift tearing away at its heart. Along the way, they encounter the horrific armies of hellish denizens that now rule the city and corrupt everything they touch. As players incrementally approach the source of evil, they will have to rely less and less on traditional weapons and instead focus on the combined psychic talents of the Jericho Squad.

Team members:

Capt. Devin Ross – the protagonist, Jericho Squad captain, team telepath and healer.
Father Paul Rawlings – the dual-pistol-wielding priest and exorcist
Sgt. Frank Delgado – a minigun-wielding alchemist and pyromancer with fire-demon in right arm.
Lt. Abigail Black – a telekinetic sniper who can control bullets in mid-flight.
Sgt. Billie Church – a ninja-esque blood mage who uses her own blood to cast spells and wards.
Capt. Xavier Jones – a seer who uses astral projection for reconnaissance and possibly even possession of enemies.
Cpl. Simone Cole – the Jericho Squad's reality hacker who can alter time and teleport supplies and personnel.

Played the demo. An rental for me. That's it.

I try to never buy any game before I first rent it. I have a feeling, however, that I'll end up buying this game.

Smasandian
I didnt really see anything special about this game from the demo.

It was freaking or scary at all and the action was pretty generic. This is just from the demo though so it could be different, but I wasnt
entirely impressed.

Impediment
It releases on the 24th. Damn the luck.

I played the demo on my PS3 as well and i was positively surprised, it plays really good and the story looks interesting as well, looks like a buy for me.

I really enjoyed the continuous conversations between characters. The voice actors really did a good job, especially at the little things like when after Church battles the demon when falling down the pit, she stumbles to her feet whimpering and shuddering. It just adds a touch of realism, in my opinion.

Burning thought
i think ill enjoy this game a lot, ime not a horror madman lover or anything but these sorts of stories i find interesting, id prob get it just to play the story and see it all myself without having to hear it from others, even if the game itself didnt turn out too well id prob enjoy the story, and the monster designs look quite imaginative and entertaining, or more Gory if anything else, which is pretty cool

it wont bring the masterful graphics and new features of Crysis

Anything by Clive Barker is worth my attention. The story itself is original, and the fact that you get to play characters with both supernatural powers and bad-ass military weapons is icing on the cake, IMO.

i like clive barker's literary works, but every game that he has been involved with has turned out to be absolute garbage

I can't seem to recall any other video games by Barker. Care to enlighten?

I know he was involved in atleast two others. The most recent was the PC game undying. The game had fine graphics and sound. The story was solid, but the gameplay was quite broken. I was probably being to harsh in saying that his past endevours in the video game world produced only garbage. I am skeptical though, in the past when icons from other mediums were chosen to headline a video game in some way. The results have always been lackluster. I do have hope for Jericho, am just skeptical is all.

Smasandian
Undying wasnt garbage.

It was a pretty interesting and fun game.

Garbage means crap, and Undying isnt crap. It's good.

Today's the day!! I'm buying Jericho this afternoon!!

Estacado
What powers does the reality hacker chick have?

Morridini
Just got a Switch so I could get internet on my 360! Put this in the demo download list, loong list...

Smasandian
Read the reviews, alot of them are pretty bad.

I'm not picking this up.

I bought it this afternoon. Pretty sweet game, if you ask me. I'm about an hour into it. The graphics are good, but the best part is the music and the voice acting. The scripting is damn near perfect! Also, I love the continuous back & forth with the characters.

I value the reviews of other people, especially professional critics, as much as I value a scorching case of genital herpes.

Smasandian
And I played the demo and wasnt that impressed to go out and buy the game.

Reading the reviews and the problems that they had made me realize that the game isnt great, or good.

Nothing stands out from it.
