Beowulf the saxon who was the greatest warrior from a legend of saxon literature vs. Captain America.. I think that Caotain will get crushed how bout u?
Hercules
Its hard to judge really, Beowulf had three notable fights, Grendal, Grendal's mother and a Dragon.
Grendal and his mother were impervious to swords and had iron tough skin and Beowulf was strong enough to tear off Grendal's arm.
He died fighting the dragon but hell, it was a dragon and he did win! even though he had Wiglaf's help.
he does have feats like swimming home across the sea in full armour, so it could be said that he had some degree of super human strength and stamina.
But as its a hero of an epic poem vs a comic book character its really hard to say imo.

Beowulf was a Geat, closer to a Goth than a Saxon. You call yourself a geek!
Captain REX
Unless Captain America can rip the arms off of beings that are impervious to sword blows, then I say Beowulf.

ok if beowulf is closer to a goth then y is he in anglo saxon literature as their "jesus" so to say. He's a saxon. I didn't think they had comics on him but idk?... He has massive superhuman strength, stamina, fighting skill n some really good durabnility

With a one shot at that.

Anglo Saxon poem with Scandanavian origins, Saxons, Vikings, Normans all shared these origins on a genetic level they were the same people...
Goths were an east germanic tribe that left Scandanavia in 1490BC and settled in Scythia and Dacia.
The events in Beowulf take place in the late 5th and early 6th century which would put it around the time the Saxons began to settle in Britain, the Goths by this time had divided into the Visigoths and the Ostrogoths, adopted a form of christianity and settled in Italy and along the Iberian peninsula.
Seeing as all of them however share the same Origins there will be a lot of similarities in culture, weapons and warfare etc.
Yes I call myself a geek!

cap looses. but can beowulf take a shot from caps shield? most likely yes, what u think?
hulkcpbifiussjf
yea beowulf lifted a sword made by giants to kill grendel's mother which means its like one ton and he wore it o the battlefield the only person who could do it or even lift it but captain is inferior in fighting skill
Endless Mike
Pretty much every mythological character has made an appearance in comics at least once. I wouldn't be surprised if he was in a comic somewhere.
The Fake Macoy
Beowulf has Superhuman strength (swam for I think 5 days while fighting sea monsters with Breca and other feats) has fought in several battles with enemies of the geats, and even when he was an old man, he was fighting a dragon.
So, physically, Beowulf is far superior to cap, which just gives Cap the edge (slightly) in fighting skills.
Beowulf wins this.

He is actually right Beowulf was a hero of the Geats who were a north Germanic tribe settled in what is now modern day Sweden.
The poem is Anglo Saxon but its origins are Scandanavian, he was a hero to the Anglo Saxons but he wasn't one himself.

Bro you just proved he has superhuman strength, durability and stamina...that doesnt give him the majority. I dont even think the feats put him in class 100...how big were those monsters?

Well it was 7 days and 7 nights and there is some debate as to whether it was a rowing or a swimming race Beowulf had with Breca.
Its all to do with Translation the word "sund" can be interupted as swin but the word ""rowan" is not interpreted as swim in anyother Anglo Saxon poetry and that is the word used in Beowulf.
Breca basicaly beats Beowulf in the race and later while dining Beowulf recounts the story and explains how he had to stop to defeat multiple sea monsters during the race.
Grendel was meant to be from a Giant race that had survived the great flood and Grendels mother was of the same race although smaller than her son.
Both were impervious to normal swords and it took a sword forged by the Giants themselves to cut them and even then their blood is hot enough to melt the metal of even that blade.
The dragon was pretty big, I would assume the sea monsters were too, difficult to say exactly how large from Anglo Saxon poetry really.

IMO, this depends on where they fight. If it's somewhere that Cap can set up multiple angles for recocheting his shield, he can take Beowulf. But if not, Beowulf will probably take him.
And I just found this.

Let's just say the Beowulf comics I downloaded didn't actually turn out to be Beowulf, just Beowulf inspired Manga (which I deleted).
So.. Don't hold your breath, I've been looking (just because I was interested) for some, but there's none torrented, so meh.
EDIT: Ray Winstone? ARE YOU SERIOUS? I'm very disappointed.

Well here is the Trailer
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0442933/trailers-screenplay-E33836-10-2
Only reviews I have seen are from people who have seen the trailer and think its just another special effects movie, no has seen the whole film yet.
Personaly to me it looks to be taking the 300 aproach and I really want to see it, I think Angelina Jolie being in it and memories of Alexander are putting a lot of internet critics off.
Ray Winstone and memories of King Arthur could also be the cause of some of the venom aimed at it, apparently there is a 2005 released Beowulf not made by Hollywood that is filmed on location in Iceland and people are saying that hollywood had no need to make it.
I prefer to judge for myself, looks like a medieval action flick to me, so if you arn't too bothered about an in depth storyline it should be fun.

Never mind, I might just buy the graphic novel that Trick just posted the link too.
Yeah Ray Winstone, he looks nothing like Ray Winstone in the trailer though!
Looks like he has been on a 300 style workout regime, either that or some serious special effects!

well if he was in class 100 i wouldn't have wasted my time with cap i woulda pitted him against the heavy hitters.
Well let's see grendel was like hulk size n grendel's mom was good sized too but noth very impervious to iron swords except for the giant sword that weighed in tons prolly. The dragon was very big like fing fang foom or a lil smaller but massively powerful. He's in the middle class def but idk bout the top tier.

Millions of Italians reading about Jesus doesn't make him a Gentile from Rome rather than a Jew from Nazareth. See the flaw in your reasoning?
Wikipedia:Geat
On topic, I'd lay heavy odds on Beowulf. Honey in his veins, striding the whale-road, and all that. OTOH, never count out Cap pulling off an upset victory against impossable odds. He does that a lot.
