Diamond WEAPON is a boss in Final Fantasy VII. It is one of the Planet's many WEAPONs which have been released by Sephiroth. The party fights it as it approaches Midgar towards the end of the game.
The fight with the Diamond WEAPON is more storyline-based and it is not necessary to actually defeat it. A countdown will be present during the battle and when it reaches zero, Diamond WEAPON takes a hit from the Sister Ray and is vanquished. The ray simultaneously destroys the shield around the Northern Crater, which leads into the game's final stages.
