Today it can be hard to find new bands. Although the internet offers a great outlet for un-signed bands. These places are usually knowledge to few. Everyone likes to discover new music, but with the monster presence of the mainstream. Many bands go un discovered. I know that the thread of spreading band awareness has been done many times. I thought it would be interesting to have a thread dedicated to a more detailed awareness. If you have a band you would like to submit. Post a link to where we can sample some of their music.

this band Tsar is really good young rock band.

This is more widely known band but still suffers from lack of awareness. These cats are a great blend of contemporary and classic rock

Here is a link to a great punk band

Pezmerga
I don't have a link and they aren't new, but if you like Symphonic Prog check out the Brazillian band Bacamarte. They only have 2 releases though. Amazing stuff.

Kelly_Bean
I'd definately have to say The 69 Eyes, they're not really "lesser" known but not many people from the US listen to them to my knowledge because they're finnish.

PANIC CELL - http://www.myspace.com/paniccell
> This band have worked their asses off over the past two and a half years, and it's paid off with their second album (What Doesn't Kill Us) getting rave reviews from all avenues of the UK media (including *gulp* NME and The Sun).

PHAZM - http://www.myspace.com/thetruephazm
> They call themselves 'Death 'n' Roll', however to those unfamiliar with the term there a classic example of what you get if you put Motorhead, Celtic Frost and Black Label Society in a wrestling ring.

NODE - http://www.myspace.com/nodeband
> Listein to this band even if it's merely for Hellywood, which features the gorgeous (and talented) Christina Scabbia (of Lacuna Coil) fame. Think the break neck riffs of Lamb of God, the chaos of Napalm Death and the sheer ferocity of Carcass.

Thats a pretty incredible metal band. It proves the point that you dont need to scream to sing metal.

Getting praise from NME and The Sun could be considered negative.

I've championed this band since their off, and I've seen first hand how hard they've worked to get where they are. And although I dislike both the Sun and NME i'm happy more than anything to see 'em get the recognition they so rightly deserved. Their not only a hard working band with the albums to show for it they put on killer live shows be it as headliners or a support act.

Kelly_Bean
Anders Manga dd..I just remembered to mention them.

Recognition means nothing if people are just saying it cos they feel they have to.

In the case of The Sun and NME, these are publications that suggest Lil' Chris is credible.

Yet unlike Lil' Chris or whoever else these outlets are peddling, Panic Cell have the material to show that they can live up to any hype that may be giving to 'em. Don't believe me listein to their new album (What Doesn't Kill Us).

Yndi Halda arent huge yet, but should be and probably will be soon. Well, as huge as those sorta bands can get anyway.

Good use of the confused smiley as you clearly don't know what he means.

I've heard Panic Cell since they released Save Me.

I dislike them.

how effective do you all think myspace is? I know there are many other forums and sites out there which promotes un sighned artists. Myspace being the most visited. How much of an impact do you think it makes on spreading band awareness? Has anyone here ever bought an album from a band on myspace? I have bought several directly from the bands, and actually made friends with a few others. I think its great thing, but am not sure how much it helps. Even though My chemical crap made a name for themselves arguably soley due to myspace

Not sure if they are little known or not...but I never hear about them, so I say Dope.

Didn't they have a hit on MTV like, 10 years ago?

That's like how most people haven't heard of Possessed before, but they created death metal.

Bat Dude
They're not "lesser known" technically, but...

Crashdiet is really good...

I wouldn't say created.

Laid the path, maybe. Like Slayer or whatever.

Death etc could be credited as creators.

Seven Churches by Possessed is the first death metal album, I haven't really heard another candidate. Larry Lalonde being the guitar player and taught by Satriani gives a running joke amongst me and my friends that Satch created death metal.

However, I would agree that Death are probably the greatest pioneers. Death and Morbid Angel. Altars of Madness and Human are fairly quintessential death metal.

Lord Shaper
Ulver.

Extremely unknown band, but very good. Very good indeed.
