Where is everyone?? This place is more deserted than one of those old western cowboy films you see with the tumbleweed rolling along in the wind... lookaround

laughing out loud

This forum was abuzz with life once....albeit with a small group of people....
They've all moved on with their lives, seemingly. Chris gets drunk. Exa gets....uh, Exa-y.... stick out tongue

The Sacred Fire
Oh. Good for them. That happens.

Well we can always start our own new group of discussioners... Wait I don't even think that's a word...

I even bought a house embarrasment haha, I am so chuffed but I am just going to Rent it for 2 years and move in then.

The forum went around 6months after ROTK was released, its a darn shame but I think EVERY topic has been discused numerous times.

Yes, when you put it that way Discos it does seem a little hopeless to try to resurect old topics or try to put a new spin on them. I don't know if I should give up now because it seems the 'iron' had gone icy cold now...

Oh and congrads on the house! Hope you fit in well smile

I think that goes for most all of us. The majority of the fan base back when this forum was alive and kicking, were teenagers, or young adults. 15, 16, 17, etc. Most of us have grown up now. We are either in college/university, or with full time jobs, families, children, homes to run, etc. I think as we grow up we live in our little internet-world less and less, and in the real world more an more. Which is good in many ways, but sad in many others.

Melcórë
Hey man, I've grown - and I aspire to such things! stick out tongue

The Sacred Fire
Haha yes totally agree with Elessea.

I'm a full-time worker and off to uni next year but this is still an interest. Although in some ways, it could become a full-time interest I guess, back in the old days anyway.

All very sad all the same...

Melcórë
Without Tolkien, I wouldn't have developed an interest in linguistics, my future....

Yes, but, those films were awful.

Posters are believed to have died out by now, they are scared of the Big Folk, those Star Wars fans with more interest in the material rather than the symbolic, but can be found in the quiet places of the earth. Sometimes, it is believed, the tiny patter of Poster feet can be heard, but rarely are they seen.

The Sacred Fire
Posters? Poster feet? I have the feeling I missed an old inside joke... shifty huh

Elessea
I'm pretty sure that's the opening lines of "The Hobbit" with a few words changed...but i may be mistaken.

exanda kane
Yes, it's my awful recollection of the start of either, can't remember, The Hobbit or the Chapter Concerning Hobbits, neither of which I have read for years smile

Discos
its true that I dont go to my little internet world to escape from rubbish reality, I think it happened when I got a laptop...i know that seems strange but when I sat at a desktop I would be in my own space but now I am on the couch or in my bed on the net and it doesnt seem the same.

Yup, everyone has grown up but I still love LOTR, read the books once a year and always browsing the stores for the books to see if The History of Middle Earth is still alive and kicking,

eek! I DO THAT TOO! I thought I was the only one stick out tongue Everytime I'm in the bookstore I find myself wandering into the Tolkien section (well, it used to be a sectoin, not its just a shelf) and see which happy little books are still around love

Mr. Bacon
i used to own at lotr trivia, i need ot read them again soon yes

Draugwen
*just throws a quick look into here* Hey, I remember people^^ *waves*

coolmovies
We need more people posting or ask peter jackson to make another lotr movie so we can talk about it lolz

Discos
yup, I dont think, if it were to be made, the Hobbit would get much attention and the same responce on this forum as LOTR did.

Ah well Hats off to you guys who mae that 3-4 years here amazing when the movies did come out, al never forget just before ROTK was released, sweet!

coolmovies
what happend before ROTK ?

Discos
Thats when the forum was probably at it's peak, I usually spent about 6hours a day on the forum just ranting about stuff.

Thats when alot of legends were here (well i dont know about legends but it was a sweet group of peeps).

The Secret Fire
Well with the Hobbit coming out in a few years, this thread might be proved wrong. I wonder if we will get a new forum?? We should think of a name.. how about 'The Deadly Ninja Clan discussing The Hobbit forum'

stick out tongue

Maikahyandowen
kind of long, work on that

Elessea
it won't get a new forum, because it'll be considered part of the tolkien universe.

And the forums may attract some new people- but I have a feeling that by the time 2010 rolls around the old timers will be even less likely to show up here no

Maikahyandowen
*raises hand* I'll be here!

The Secret Fire
We should get a new forum cos The Hobbit isn't LotR.

I most likely won't be around here in 2010.

New people could be better than the older ones.

Ushgarak
No, it won't get a new forum; this one will likely get a slight re-naming is all.

But yes, it will be busy again. Every major franchise has its ups and downs. Star Wars, LOTR and Matrix have all been at different times the busiest (though Matrix got the most attention over any one period).

Shadow Spider
I haven't abandoned it. My school blocked, sadly. sad They think its porn...idiots...

Hello LotRers--I'm an older--in my day, read LotR 9 summers running--now once every couple of years--of course re-read during movies (thought I would surely perish during Two Towers)--didn't know I could be so at home in another world as I was there. I wish to say, very respectfully, to those of you who are beginning your outside (I say becos it's all real, this and the other)lives, it's all good and keep if at all possible these friends you're making here and now. I've had my LotR friends for over 40 years now--we still send each other real mail in dwarfish--I still read pretty quickly for an older. I read someone saying that it's all been discussed. Not in this lifetime...

I had no clue as to who would be chosen for Strider, Longshanks--nor Frodo, or Legolas (my heart pounds thinking of pretty pretty lovely eared Legolas--Orlando Bloom could have his pick of any of my critters and eat crackers in bed) or the others of the fellowship. Chose well they did, and Evenstar, my generation, we named our children, boats, animals, whatever after her beauteous self--we nade our doors round, spoke friend and entered. The story still causes me immense pride in the deeds of men and elves, the surprise of halvlings, the strength of dwarves, and magesty of the wizard, Gandalf. I hope your forum lives on--agree to reunion for one week every month or so--love one another and honor the enjoyment. I submit this wordy post with all respect to your forum and thread, I say what I have said for love of words which have given me pleasure for so many years. There is nothing in this world like loving something fine.

Discos
^^ that was really...sweet, guy. You were doing super-amazing right up until the point when Orlando Bloom was mentioned stick out tongue hehe.

Well I have met numerous "best" net friends here over the years which I will never forget. Some of them even helped me pass a college course a wile back.

The world of Arda will have a huge part on when I name my daughter (whenever I have one). However, my first son will be named after me Father...because he is awesome.

coolmovies
ya where is everyone plzz post

Discos
okay....post

coolmovies
lollz

Discos
aint much people can do until Hobbit comes out. I am a little bit rusty on the Sil nowadays but if I do get round to it I will maybe discuss it again.

coolmovies
Watch Lotr again then maybe you will have something to talk about
