Well looks like we're getting another re-make of a classic horror film

Evil Dead
First I have heard of it..........but it has to be better than the original. There is no way, no way at all a remake could not be as good, atleast, as the original.

BackFire
One of the few remakes I'd be in favor of. The original is pretty shitty, but I think the story could work if in the right hands. There's much that could be improved (everything).

steverules
I actually found the first one rubbish too, the second was Good cause Jason was in it big grin

Cory Chaos
Likewise. The franchise itself isn't all that great honestly. It's more iconic than anything, whereas NOES has an iconic figure, and a cool gimmick.
I'd be for a well done remake.

tylerTOXICITY
I think this could be good.

zbucsz
i would like them to go more into jason's backstory

steverules
I agree...show his birth, in the Jason vs Leatherface comic it said he had an abusive father...that is something I would like to see also if true. Then they can show the day he arrived and drowned then skip a few years to the present where the people are arriving and start dying

Evil Dead

I think the second is inferior to the first. Sure, the first movie has little to no plot.........just a bunch of random campers being killed by Mrs. Voorhies but the story to the second is ridiculous. Ok...she only thought her retarded son drowned? He lived in the woods for 25 years in a shack on the other side of the camp where his mother was.....grew to be a man, watched his mother get her head cut off and began killing people for revenge? Gee, he has no problem finding the camp now......why didn't he just wander back there to his mother sometime within the past 20 years or so? That movie set the stage for the cheesefest to follow. Surviving Axes to the head, being chopped to pieces only to reappear two movies later as a zombie resurrected by lightning, etc.

steverules
To be honest the second should have been the first movie, they could've had a bit at the beggining saying what happened and so on

SelphieT
Mrs. Vorhees is probably going to be even MORE ridiculous in the remake. Probably won't be as creepy though.

yeah, but so are the other 20

Discos
the first friday movie was bassically a story setting for the rest of the movies.

If they remake it i think they will do what Rob Zombie did with Halloween remake and give us a back story to the Vorhee's past. Maybe this time show us Jason when he was young at the camp he drowned at.

They definatly dont need to remake the first movie, there really is no point and it was boring anyways.

HueyFreeman
Ok question.? Did Jason actually drown when he was a kid? Its implied in two that he did not drown and grew up in the forest.

DARKLORDCAEDUS
Friday the 13th is a cult classic. I've seen all of them and liked the first 4. If this remake is any good then it must have a good story and good gore.

Healing Artisan
i've never been a fan of the Friday the 13th movies. Overrated in my opinion. Remake wouldn't be so bad.

steverules
I would see the remake

Good question, I did have an opponion on this until Freddy Vs Jason, Fredy tries to drown him but the chick saves him when they are back in time....haha crazy storyline. I know it was his dream and all but who knows.

I think he drowned but came back to life in a freakish way.

Discos - classic horror movies, who needs plots?

steverules
We were all made to think he couldn't swim but the scary thing is...he could shifty dun dun DUUUN

StrawberryClock
Do we take any of the plot devices from Part 9 to heart or not since it was under New Line at the time?

steverules
We don't count part 9 cause it was shit big grin

StrawberryClock
Well there's that too whistle

steverules
And Jason X...well we just pretend that never existed and move on with out lives

But seriously I am really hoping this remake is good

Mr Parker
oh god, please let this be an untrue nightmare. mad after the way they screwed up halloween I cant bear sit through a remake of friday the 13th.

steverules
Yeah but I doubt they could screw up a friday the 13th remake since the original was rather boring anyway....Jason should be in the remake, he should be the killer rather than his 60 something mother going around hacking up kids... the thing is Jasons mother was weak but Jason, he was strong and took steroids. No wonder Jason is angry his penis shrunk due to the steroids!!

Discos
haha his mother sucked balls, killer? she could barely hold a knife properly, it sucked.

The remake will take another approach than the original, it wont be his mum even though I do think she will be in it. Perhaps She teaches Jason as a young dude to kill people and teach him that everyone is scum except her.

steverules
She sucked balls indeed...which is why Jason should be the killer

SelphieT
Eh, the mom was alright.

I think she was creepier than Jason.

Who cares if she couldn't hold a knife/machete correctly? Does it really matter if you are holding it correctly while you are in a blind rage?

Toku King
NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

steverules
Jason was creepier cause he was harder to stop IMO

Discos
his mother was just a normal woman who wants to kill people, she was easily stopped and she stayed dead unlike her son, haha.

steverules
That was kinda the only good thing about her

Neo Darkhalen
Not another Bloody, crappy remake of a horror classic.

Evil Dead

classic in no way implies that it is good.

how on earth could a remake of Friday the 13th not be better than the original? unless it's 90 minutes of German guys shitting on each other while jerking each other off.......it has to be better by default.

steverules
I think I would not wanna see a friday the 13th remake if it was gonna be that sick

Konjammenson
What's with people not liking the first one? The Halloween remake really irritated me but I think this one might be good.

The thing I don't like about it is that Friday the 13th wasn't really about Jason. If they are going to focus around that they should make it more of a segway between part 1 and 2 rather than a full on remake of part 1.

Evil Dead
It's not that I don't like the first one.....I own it aswell as the rest of the series on dvd. I can appreciate it for what it is, a silly little popcorn flick with little to no plot. That doesn't, however, make it a good film. There is no plot at all. It's 90 minutes of random teenagers getting killed in random ways until the last 5 minutes when Mrs. Voorhies says she did all the killing because her son drown in the lake while the counselors were off f-cking. It's cheese. Any remake would have to be better.....better plot, better acting, better effects, etc.

Neo Darkhalen
Yeah his mother was the villain, in the first one, but like you said the Halloween remake annoyed me.

Konjammenson

I definitely agree with you but improve upon at least the SAME plot. Making it about Jason doesn't make it a remake. It makes it a whole new movie. You know what I mean? At least call it Friday the 13th with some kind of sub-title so it's on its own.

Neo Darkhalen
It should not be Jason, after all his mother was the first crazy killer.

steverules
I prefer Jason to hi mother

Neo Darkhalen
yes, but she was the main villain it should stay that way, remember what happened to halloween 3, they got rid of M. Myers, things did not go to well, the remake of the first, well we won't speak of that, his Mother will have to be the villain, it would not be a remake else, another thing the entire story would have to be revised.

steverules
yes but who could play his mother?

Neo Darkhalen
You could have Glenn close, if you wanted to destroy the film.

steverules
No one could play her

Neo Darkhalen
I doubt it.

SelphieT

He needs to be one of the victims who has his nuts cut off and stuffed in his mouth. yes

steverules
Noo one gets their nuts cut off these days so that would be something new and cool...I know have the undertaker play Mrs Voorhee's!! 'Come here little campers so you can reeest...in....peeeeeeeace!!!'

crystaldawn
Not sure what I think about a remake of Friday the 13th I might watch it but since I now have kids I probley won't

steverules
Why does having kids stop you from going to see a horror movie??

Neo Darkhalen
Because he is a good father.

SelphieT

Maybe he has no alone time to watch it?

He probably just doesn't want his kids to see the movie.

Neo Darkhalen

Like I said, perhaps he does not want his kids watching those sorts of films, just yet, perhaps he would rather watch films for the whole family to enjoy, perhaps he would rather spend time with his children, then watching a film without them.

I think you mean she wink

Neo Darkhalen
What?

oh dear... I am very sorry.

Oh sorry, I just saw the word "father" and assumed she was a father. Sorreh!

Neo Darkhalen
Yes.....well back to Topic..........

steverules
laughing out loud

Well she could get a baby sitter to watch her kids whilst she goes to see the movie...parents are allowed to have some time to go out and be alone with each other unless your a single parent

SelphieT
Yeah, true dat.

However, I grew up watching horror movies with my dad and brother all the time.

My mom hates scary movies, she would get more scared than I would, and I was like, 5 or less years old!

Neo Darkhalen
I liked the first 2 FT13 films, just like the first 2 Halloween films, and first 2 scream films, and the first 2 child's play films, anyone else seeing a pattern, after that they get ludicrous, Michel Myers should have stayed dead like first planned.

Although FT13 3 was good, I hope they keep close to the first Movie, no Jason I am afraid.

steverules
To be fair they could have stopped Friday at 3 since Jason was technically dead at the end and at the end of halloween 2 they coulda finished it...anyone else find it amazing how Michaels skin is never scarred even though he was burnt really badly? Anyway I am still hoping for Jason to be the main bad guy

Neo Darkhalen
He was burnt, in 5 you can see the scars just barley, but I mean after the second ones it becomes really stupid, fair enough, MM. may have worn a bullet proof vest, Obviously he did not but it makes him seem more realistic, I like the idea of invincible killers to certain extents, bullets can't kill them fair enough, but being burnt well do you see what I mean, and to be fair if Mrs V. was a very mortal character just like the Scream villains.

Nordicdusk
Gotta say i like the first 4 movies also but i would hope that Jason is the main in the remake otherwise i can see a Friday 13th pt2 remake. Fingers crossed the right person will make this and do it right.

he did not.

Not only do they give you Jason's story about his mother thinking he drowned while he grew up in the forest, they actually show the shack he grew up in with his mother's head on a shrine. Jason doesn't die until prt 4 when Tommy Jarvis hacks him to pieces. He does not appear in prt 5, the copycat killer movie. At the beginning of part 6 he is resurrected as a zombie when lightning strikes his grave.

I remember Tom Savini saying in an interview that Jason really did die in part one but because of commercialism they changed it which is why he hated Friday the 13th two.

there's no "really" to it. "we were going to go this way but didn't.." doesn't mean shit. all that matters is what's on film. if I want to know how to recreate a head-shot, I'll ask Savini........other than that, who cares.
