Our friend Norrin Radd got a new mini brought to you by Marvel.
The first issue(1 of 4) came out yesterday.

I thought it was a good read, and the art is awesome smile
But the ending kept me in suspense tho miffed
All in all it looks promising cool

anyone else read it?

nimbus006
Nice, the cover art looks incredible.

Galan007
I didn't care so much for the actual story -- but the art alone was enough to keep me coming back.

The book started out slow, but it should lead to a good plot in the later books.
I agree about the art, it alone it a good enough reason to pick up the book.

Soljer
I picked it up. Thought the art was fantastic and the story was about on par with Norrin's average.

Quite poor. sad.

roughrider
Michael Turner draws a great looking Surfer, on the cover.

But how does this jibe with the recent events of SS: Requiem?
It's not canon at all, then?

Val
Requiem was non canon. I don't know if this story is.

That stuff was the madshit!

I hope he's going to meet up with some old Heralds, Red shift hopefully.

Requiem was in the vein of "The End" stories - non canon.

There is no indication of whether this one is canon or not, to my knowledge, but I believe that usually means it IS - though I could be wrong.

tjcoady
It kinda looks to me like one of those books where if it's canon or not really doesn't make a difference- I doubt he's going to be running into any old friends or affecting the Universe or anything like that. I see it as a kinda self contained look at the concept.

Oh, and I love it when they write the Silver Surfer as Marvel's answer to Jesus. It's always fun to read Messainic Surfer. Art's amazing.

manjaro
the whole thing was too bright and colorful, i couldnt make heads or tails of what i was looking at

Scoobless
This can't be cannon, it doesn't mesh at all with recent Surfer showings post Annihilation Wave.

Now that he's ordering takeout for the big G again, Surfer has been less angsty and more aggressive.

DigiMark007
Art = Great. Not Phil Jimenez great, but still great.

I actually like the beginning, where it gives us a very real sense of Surfer's conflict of "why do I have morality?" On such a cosmic scale, cruelty and violence become just another necessary part of creation....and an altruistic being becomes almost artitrary by comparison.

Otherwise, meh, but I'll stay for the art.

Stupid Rookie
That art is awesome. I have to go pick this up!

Thanks

Come on, the art, at the least, was fairly impressive.

As mentioned, the story is par for the Surfer's course - shite.

But the artwork was beautiful to mine eyes.

Yes. Marvel hasn't even clarified what happened in Requiem, and we get another mini right away? Greedy.

Requiem was just another non-canon 'the end' type of story.

oh no, i agree, she can be pretty hot when drawn by some artists... her reputation though...

and kirk = awesome.

If I'm gonna **** to broken bones, I think I'd rather be with Kara Zor-El than Shulkie. ermm.

Nah, if it's gonna be broken bones, I want her to be big and buff like Jennie, Barda or Power Girl; not a tiny waif like Supergirl. big grin

There is, very much so, such a thing as 'too big,' friend.

I can't get past the "S". It practically drains sexuality. Supergirl might as well be a nun to me, just like Clark is like a priest with the costume on.

Nah, not really, i dont think the mini is gonna be packed with some big time feats. erm
As everyone said the art is top notch, the story it self is on par with the rest of his books.

If any impressive feats are to be had in this miniseries, that and the art would be the ONLY reasons to read it.

Or, so it seems. Maybe the story'll get better in the next issue. I kinda doubt it though.

But even the fantastic artwork won't keep me coming back for long, if the story doesn't shape up a bit. srsly

Ouallada

Obviously not. Some of the best comics ever had zero feats within. I'll be picking this up at a later date, so was wondering if SS did anything that I could use in his debates in the meantime.

I'm guessing I'm the only one who thinks that art is kind of crappy. Awesome. thumb up

That's not a very good picture of Selena there. She looks like she'd bite your penis off during sex or something like that.

I hate the art... it's too flashy in most cases, and alien, while Surfer looks clunky-ish.

I'd rather have Ron Lim as the artist (he draws the best Surfer, imo), and the only reason I'm going to follow this series is because it's Surfer.

People seem to like the cover way more than I did - it wasn't anything special in my opinion.

I liked the interior, though.

I liked the interior, though. I didn't like either of them, and Turner should not be doing Surfer... especially a cover that draws people in... There's something about it I don't like... at least it's better than the art in the actual comic though...

IMO. smile

Just him saying he could expand someone's molecules until they ceased to exist or something of the sort, and then at the end he brings down some giant robotic monster thing.

I have to say i really didnt like the art all that much. Thought the cover was much better. Like someone said earlier i had trouble seeing where one thing ended and the other started. As for the story thought i was kind of interesting, but hope it picks up.
