Why is a much harder question, as in 'why do it'? It's just not suitable crossover material.

Very true, what have the Cybermen teamed up with the empire, or the Daleks invade tattoine*, could never work. Star trek and Star wars might.

Star Trek and Star Wars wouldn't either. But why do any crossover material? Clash a couple of medicore things and you don't get Keira Knightley y'know.

Ive read briliant books on ST vs SW with proper serious researched long stories as it is i gave 9/10
