1. Akuki, Charlotte, and King Kandy: We have plans that will blow you guys out of the water.

2.Digimark, Leonidas and Newjak: These guys don't even have a complete team but I already can tell that Gideon+Multi-Paul will DESTROY the competition.

Tying for third:

B-Dub(BlairWind) & DarkCrawler: These guys always have some trick up their sleaves.

Bransolute and Smurph:These guys have picks that are real border-cap... It's a tough lineup to top.

4. Estacado, Red and TricksterPriest: I think these guys downright cheated with their picks. It's horrible.

5. Faceman and nvrbeenwthagirl: Their picks should have some interesting strategies with them.

6.Badabing, Citizen V and Grey Fox: They don't seem to have anything too creative or powerful. Maybe i'll be wrong, but I'm not seeing to much promise right now.

there's no way in hell Gideon is getting in. And I think you're underestimating Grey Fox.

Also, I just got Dalek Sec banned for time travel tech.

Oddly enough, my money is on Nvr's team currently.

Grey fox is tough, but I don't know... I'm really not seeing him doing well.

Even with Dalec Sec gone you still have picks that will be horrible to deal with. There's a reason Jotaro almost got banned multiple times.

Yeah I know. It's ridiculous, those Arenas HAVE to go. They're bullshit.

We can't win under these conditions. Anyone in the tournament can just hide and let the locals kill off the other team with a decent plan. Hell, even as a last resort, they can get the locals to take the other team out as a stalemate with both dead. THIS DOES NOT WORK!

On the other hand, this is exactly a situation where it pays to have the Spot.

But I agree, these conditions are preposterous. They'll suck all the fairness from the tourney. It'll be pure luck of the draw who wins. It's stupid.

I'm going to wait until we see judge reactions to manga characters.

Gideon is one hell of a pick. But I don't think you can count on him being around match time.

Which is why a particular team starts out with a handicap.

Because of my time in the Academy nrv will be presenting my arguments.

Observations from someone who's made about 4 of these types of threads (including the original!):

- Non-comic characters are a tough sell. They can work, but extra effort is needed to explain things.

- Some people run into a ton of real life commitments and basically drop out. We seem to have a lot of interested people, so maybe this will be the first time we don't have a no-show.

- My team isn't even complete, so odds should be withheld until we get our sh*t together....and even we don't know when that'll be.

- If nvr can come up with an offensive plan to compliment the "shut everyone off" thing, they could be dangerous.

- Gideon was banned from copying amalgams, so he's likely getting through...which seems fair, given other decisions. I'm not arguing for him to be in (that's for the other thread), just stating what I'm seeing.

- Smurph has us 7th. Kandy has us 2nd. Guess who I like more right now ( 31 )

Still against Duping, but barring a large number of people getting it tossed, it's probably getting in.

Akuki's team is a darkhorse, but with guys like Kenshiro, they could be a major threat.

Scoob actually won the last tourney. But Blair/DC won the last partner tourney. And the last one at this level (we called it Modified Street Level at the time, but it was intended to be roughly the same level) was won by Jinzin. So I'm not sure who that makes the defending champ.

I'm fairly sure that all of my characters have resources to like I don't know, pretty much anything they need. It's not about the characters, it's about what they can grab. This is a low meta tourney. No one should be blowing up blocks or manhandling magneto. Dark Horse essentially means you're the favored underdog, and the counterintuitive choice for a winner because people usually go straight for the team of the previous champions.

Technically, if the dark horse is about almost banned guys, my team should be the dark horse. dur313

Well we have to do it this way. my partner is in the police academy so I have to get his ideas before hand and hash them out with my own plans. We are really just doing the attack plans and hashing out the amalgams at this point since there is no way to tell what the enemy combatants are going to do with thier characters. But it doesn't take a genious to see that we have to prepare for the worst case scenarios. Which would be 6 herald lvl beings blowing up the planet. Super Saiyan Jubilee FTW.

My other big strategy that I wanted to try was just to draft 6 people whose prep areas would be unbelievable, then attempt to make a prep win each time. Batman, Punisher...um...stuff like that. I'd list more, but I never really put a ton of thought into the plan.

I had considered a similar strategy.

Also considered grabbing Marvel characters that were at Spidey's level, then grabbing their Ultimate equivalent to double stats in amalgamation... and I would've too, if I thought people would let me get away with Ult. Quicksilver.

I don't have that luxury as my partner won't be on hand all of the time. Basically just doing Every combination fo characters we can think of and every obvious plan of attack from our competitors. Of course everyone has surprise tricks up thier sleeves, as do we, so with that factored in, we are doing what we think is our only opion given time constraints. And you really can't see how the team works in other fights becuz every fight will change due to the amalgams and the characters in said fight, as well as the battlefields.

Depending on the picks and their possibilities, strategies are different. Though preferable style stays. For example, with his two power copiers BW has great way to save his team from some purely physical damage (yes, that's the way to remove that "no copying from amalgam" requirement).

Faceman is approving all of the strats I can come up with and picking the best and I'll presenting our arguments. most of them will have to be written up prehand becuz B.A. will be taking finals, and Faceman is in the police academy. If that is ok with everyone.
