I mean a lot of characters say a lot of stuff. Some of it seems kinda BS. Which characters can we take serous and which ones can't we? Or does in depend on the circumstance.

Like spiderman saying sentry beat galactus.

Or Logan saying amiko is the second best fighter in the world next to him.

how about Black Panther? I mean every time he saved he always goes "I could of gotten out" or some carbage like that.

should we take them at there word or no?

Should we view the circumstance to decide?

Or does it sometimes depend on the character who is saying it?

also name other events of this happening as well for discussion.

Spider-Man said he stalemated Galactus, not beat him. Stalemating him requires a much lower power level. Hell, Quasar stalemated him for a while in an old FF arc to buy some time for Reed and crew to make a plan.

And if we believed everything, there'd be multiple contradictions. We have to go with what peoples' feats and showings tell us.

While Val has hit the nail on the head for most posters, from an unbiased perspective, you can only trust the word of mouth of a character when it's within reason.

T'Challa is prideful, of course he's going to claim "I was fine with Sabretooth choking my ass out, I was JUST about to destroy him!"

Wolverine can claim that someone is second best to him - but that only goes as far as the fighters he's faced - I'm not exactly certain that he's cataloged every fighter on marvel earth.

For the most part, word of mouth or lip service is next to meaningless unless it's a direct comparison.

If a character is wrestling with another and says "He's stronger than I am," you can probably assume it's the truth.

And from a trusted source. Like when a character knows what they're talking about because that'd be the field of expertise. Of course having an unblemished rep in the area you're talking about would help.
