I'm relistening to the top ten or so albums of the year right now to make my decision. But i'm pretty sure the New Pornographers' "Challenger" will make the list.

RedAlertv2
1. Chemical Brothers - We Are the Night
2. Queens of the Stone Age - Era Vulgaris
3. White Stripes - Icky Thump

Particularly the first two. 3rd place is a toss up between a handful of albums.

SpaceMonkey
1. Crap
2. Crappier
3. Crappiest

Music sucks now.

Tptmanno1
Its been a good year, i must say Hard to pick just three, with Rush, Dream Theater, PT, Radiohead and everyone all releasing top noch albums.
But I think its gonna be

Radiohead-In Rainbows
Porcupine Tree-Fear of a blank Planet
Dream Theater-Systematic Chaos

But I may still be forgetting some.

You're a ****ing idiot.

In no order:

Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam
Panda Bear - Person Pitch
Jens Lekman - Night Falls Over Kortedala
of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?

The best year in music of the millenium, I'd say.

SkinWalker
1. The Heart of Everything-Within Temptation
2. The Shade of Poisen Trees-Dashboard Confessional
3. Year Zero-Nine Inch Nails

Honorable mentions:

Turn My teeth up - Baby Elephant

Broaden your horizons, silly ****.

Nellinator
He does actually like a decent variety. He just has a few that he values LEAGUES above the rest.

chillmeistergen
Yeah, and ignores the quality of said leagues for the names they're released under.

Ah! I forgot meanest of times, that was a damn good record too.
And it came out of left field for me, I didn't even know they were doing another one!

yeah, its certainly a more streamlined album than their others but its consistent with the quality of each song.

I think
in black and white- mustard plug should also get an honorable mention. That is some of the best ska ive ever heard

Victor Von Doom
At the moment:

1) In Rainbows by Radiohead

2) Anonymous by Tomahawk

3) Myths of the Near Future by Klaxons

Nellinator
I have tried very hard to understand the appeal of the Klaxons, but have failed miserably.

geshien
1. zeitgeist - smashing pumpkins
2. full black habit - 16 volt
3. unia - sonata arctica

admittingly, not such a great year. 1 being awesome. 2 being solid but not great. 3 being o.k. with some killer songs but comparatively to previous albums not as impressive as an album.

haven't heard a whole lot of new albums this year to be fair. i would like to listen to dream theaters latest album, systematic chaos.

Refused
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Kanye West - Graduation
Don't have a third right now.

The Carps EP would be my third if it were an album.

Mr.Biscuits
1. Fat Jon - Hundred Eight Stars

2. Y Society - Travel at your own pace

3. Radiohead - In Rainbows

I highly recommend Fat Jon to those who have never heard of him.
Excellent Producer, Perfect "Chill" Album, as with all his releases.

Yeah it was a great year, easily enough great albums to warrant a top ten. Hopefully this year will be as good, though I doubt it.

Funkadelic
I saw MIA live

They were terrible!!!!

They got booed off stage.

I dont, you were completely and utterly, wrong. Haha, to be fair it depends on your scene and what your expectations are. If I was into indie rock like Bardock I would have to say there were many good albums. I'm not sure how hip-hop really panned out, but I hear it was okay, electronic music did pretty well, metal did horribly and hard rock had a few stellar releases, but lacked depth compared to 2006.

Tptmanno1
I just bought the new tomahawk, and I must say, its one of the most interestingly addictive listens I've had in a while, VERY good album, and surprisingly accessible from Mike Patton.

Chrome Hoof's album was enough to make the year awesome... haha

But seriously, I thought there were a shed load of decent releases last year

vanice
I have to replace Volta with Eardrum by Talib Kweli. That album is insanely good imo. Nearly half of the songs are hits.

Alpha Centauri
In Rainbows by Radiohead.
Anonymous by Tomahawk.
Zeitgeist by The Smashing Pumpkins.

-AC

manorastroman
dirty projectors, no age, capstan shafts (it's like a lost mid period GBV record).

ElectricBugaloo
1. Okkervil River - The Stage Names
2. The New Pornographers - Challenger
3. Radiohead - In Rainbows

All three albums I think I'll be listening to five years from now

Slay
Systematic Chaos by Dream Theater
In Rainbows by Radiohead
Era Vulgaris by Queens of the Stone Age

Honorable mentions for Interpol and Foo Fighters.

*T*
The killers.

RocasAtoll
1. Cunninlynguists- Dirty Acres
Not as good as A Piece of Strange, but definitely in the same vein of quality.
2. Arcade Fire- Neon Bible
Great follow up to Funeral.
3. Scarface- Made
I really didn't like The Fix that much, so Made was a nice transition back the inhuman Scarface.
