Has anyone watched this anime, or read the manga?

I really want to get into it, but I really don't know the first thing about it.

Any recommendations? Any thoughts, or discussion?

Well ... the thing that's available in the USA is the OVA's, and they're pretty underwhelming. The anime series isn't available here, and I don't think the manga is, so I can't tell you about them.

Let me see if I can remember anything about the OVA for you ... some creepy monsters; I'll give it that. It only includes the English dub; no Japanese audio. Lots of gratuitous female nudity, especially in the second part. As gory as you'd expect. Quite disjointed; you get the impression that a lot of important stuff was left out.

The anime Devil Lady, also by Go Nagai, and apparently a spin-off/reimaging of Devilman with a female protagonist, is available in the USA, and is pretty entertaining, although what I've seen so for as pretty episodic "monster of the week" stuff.

Devil Man was a very good watch. Not the best I've seen, mind you, but good.
