I see that town.
Silent Hill.

there again someday.
But you never did.
Well, I'm alone there now...
In our "special place"

This one letter sends our hapless hero to Silent Hill to search for his wife. Only we later find out that James himself killed his wife in a mercy killing.
Somehow, the powers that control Silent Hill found out and calls out to him in the form of the letter he keeps with him (which turns out to be blank upon arriving at the Lakeside Hotel).
Now, I don't respect James for killing da wife, regardless of circumstance. What I DO respect him for is his resolve to gain redemption in the game...or damnation, depending on how you play Silent Hill 2.
