But he said the american president has to buy time on the american TV networks if he wants his announcements to be broadcast is this true???

Actually I don't think that's true. I think that sort of thing falls under the Public Announcement arena...but I'm not sure.

I'd be interested to hear what the US law on public annoucments is. But as it is I think it is a bit harsh to force commercial networks to show presidential announcements for free.

i dont think he has to buy time because when he talks he comes on EVERY channel at the SAME EXACT time..plus im pretty sure the government has control over that, not the TV stations..

If it is all the major ones, I would imagine they just request the same time on each.

yes..all the channels..whenever hes making an anouncement i cant even watch disney without being interupted..no one even listens to what he says anyways

That's only because he does not want anyone to change channels and ignore him. No matter which channel you change to, their he is.

I don't know anyone that listens or watches the president speak.

I dont know in other cities, but here in Dallas, he's only on the major networks, ABC,NBC,CBS,FOX as well as all the cable news channels, CNN, CNNHeadline News, MSNBC, FOX NEWS, and so on.

The only time every single channel was interrupted was during Sept 11. Every single channel on television was showing the news, even channels like MTV2, The Food Network and The Shopping Channel and even the Playboy channel.

But I watch the main channels when it's prime time, and that's usually when the prick has to interupt.

But if he were to interupt then all the women around the US would get pissed.

hehe, well I think they broadcast normal announcements on the important channels and the really important ones on all channels (its probably a lil red button in the white house that takes control)

You live in a democracy, not a dictatorship. They cannot just do whatever they want.

I think the goverment does need to buy that air time. Because all the networks have sold airtime to different advertisors.

The President does pay for air time I think. He's also ripping other shows off air so he can blab about stuff I don't really understand.

oh! i know what the music channels are! theres MTV, MTV2, VH1, and BET...those are the only ones i watch..so if theres others i dont know..

and why should he have to buy airtime? its his country!..and he doesnt want you to understand it..he wants your parents to understand it..but i dont really think anyone even pays any attention to it anyways..

well Rex, Clinton and Gore brought the US economy back on track and Us prospered. It took Bush around a year to tear it all down.

I don't know..when all he wants to deal with is war and "homeland security" (with these F***** stupid "spectactular" warnings that we might get some terror attack..could be anywhere at any time...could come from our damn toilets backing up I guess. Not like they have any information to actually give you..just want to scare the piss out of you)
