Going to visit both of them before I am 30. I WAS scheduled to go to New York next month, it was a gift from my parents for me and my girlfriend. We broke up and I aint going myself, mostly due to the fact that New York is a over-21 drinking policy and thats most likely what I would be doing.

Glasgow is very very nice, used to be a right dive though.
If you do visit it, stay at the Crown Plaza and take a tour of the awesome Hampden park.

Well, some parts of it are pretty nice, but saying 'anywhere in the UK' is pretty broad. There are a lot of shit holes in Britain, just like in any other place. from a tourists POV, the UK is very appealing, because they dont live there. We get alot of tourists here in Houston, and I dont understand why, because I live here.

Houston is not an entire country, and it's rather insulting when a country as diverse as the UK, with both appealing and non appealing aspects is approached with blatant naivety and treated like some sort of never land. I would never dream of lumping a whole country together as either positive or negative, for instance I love Bali, but cannot stand Jakarta. I went to both with no previous conceptions, but I know which I like because I took the time to go there.

Nah, I really don't need to relax, I'm perfectly relaxed. Though I think some among you either ought to admit defeat outright, or just not try and debate. ''But this is the OTF is not an excuse'' if I was involved in a debate with someone on the bus, I would not stop them and say ''hang on just one minute, we should be doing this in a more purpose built place, perhaps the house of commons?''

So you're in love with the country and solely the country, it doesn't have to do with association, nostalgia, something or someone? If the answer's no to all those, then I find it very hard to believe that I wouldn't understand.

No, you're not wrong for going to a place because you're fascinated by it, but I think love and fascination are very different things, do you disagree?

Fine, for one thing, I have always been in love with the United Kingdom's beauty, (you know, the gorgeous rolling hills and fields, etc) and its highly fascinating history. The UK has produced some very notable scholars, one of which I have spent my entire academic life idolizing. And let's leave it at that. So, saying I'd like to visit anywhere in the UK makes perfect sense to me, as I'd like to visit most places from the Isles Of Scilly, to Brighton, to Cornwall, to Cambridge, to Oxford.. I'd love to visit Southampton and Belfast and even Loch Ness, because its history, no matter how far-fetched, is still fascinating to me. Now let me shut up, cos once I get started on the UK, I don't stop. Satisfied?
