I can say with all honesty. I wish an asteroid would crash into our corrupted and pointless world. Might put things into perspective

BackFire
No it wouldn't, because we'd be dead.

Grinning Goku
Pfft. That thing's not big. Besides, Goku will save us like he always does.

Furion
Great, now we need Bruce Willis AGAIN.

What good would that bring?

I can only imagine that perspective would include something about Jesus or the 13th Imam and the impending doom for all unrepentant sinners and unbelievers...

I see your point. Sometimes, I wish 9/10 of humanity were destroyed in an instant. I think those things when I see Paris Hilton being covered on the national news on multiple national stations for days on end when there are a lot more important things to be covered in the world other than a white-skinny-rich-****. Why do news stations do that? Simple, dumb ass humans largely lack perspective...but that is my opinion.

It may happen eventually...on some level. (Humanity's virtual destruction.)

Just for shits and giggles, I reccomend everyone check out this series or at least some if it when it airs on the History Channel. http://www.history.com/minisites/life_after_people##

I hate emo's on forums and in general who go on with the "maybe (insert bad event here) needs to happen to help straighten humanity out"

pfft, whatever, the information gained through a fresh crater on Mars would totally outweigh the loss of a Rover or 2 smilesmile

Alpha Centauri
Apparantly the only kind of disruption this TU24 would possibly give us is dodgy weather due to something else.

Chances of an impact are allegedly 1 in 25,000,000.

Apparently, it doesn't need to hit the Earth to kill us. It has not been determined whether the Asteroid is positive or negative charge, and if it is negative, then it will cause disastrous natural conditions as is passes near our orbit. Earthquakes, tidal waves, floods, all that stuff.

I swear, every year a new asteroid, or meteoroid is definitely going to hit and we're all going to die. The weird thing is, it's the same people every year shouting this shit from the rooftops.

The end of the world wouldn't be like Mad Max.

As in, it wouldn't be fun or enjoyable. It would be sad and frightening.

Sadako of Girth
But conversely, Michael Bay would then stop making movies.

So its not all bad.

Reminder to those who want to watch it pass by at the 1.4 lunar distance, it'll be passing by in 14 hours. 3:33 AM ET and 12:33 AM PT.

The asteroid will reach an approximate apparent magnitude 10.3 on Jan. 29-30 before quickly becoming fainter as it moves farther from Earth. On that night, the asteroid will be observable in dark and clear skies through amateur telescopes with apertures of at least 7.6 centimeters (three inches). An object with a magnitude of 10.3 is about 50 times fainter than an object just visible to the naked eye in a clear, dark sky.

For those who are tracking it. Probably wont be able to see it with the naked eye.

If I am not mistaken, Mindship was a witty comment about Dick Cheney shooting Harry Whittington in the face and chest.

Correct me if I am wrong, Mindship.

Robtard
My guess, he meant it as a "warning", which is what a "shot across the bow" was meant to signify.

I didn't have Cheney in mind. But I like the connection. It lends substance to my "Republican" answer, which I thought might've been a reach.
