Golden Age Superman vs The Cloverfield

Ok, the exact same scenario as in the film, except Golden Age Supes shows up. The one who cant fly. Can the monster get taken down?

Supes has defeated a few pretty big monsters in that day

supers picks up a big oil container and punctures it and then defeats a huge octopus threatening to destroy the submarine.

Superman battles and defeats a giant monster and then picks it up and tosses it a mile away into the ocean.

I'm giving it to GAS (haha). While he couldn't fly he still did have a few impressive feats here and there. At least enough to convince me that he can handle a big monster.

Superman dies. It would be funny though.
