It stands for Workplace Safety & Insurance Board. They're a workers compensation board located in Ontario, Canada.

They promote safety and caution in the work place. However, their ads are pretty disturbing and somewhat gore.

I've been doing some safety courses and there are some messed up videos of proper accidents they show you, like a bloke putting both hands into helicopter blades, people losing arms, its messed up, but if you don't know what can happen i suppose you don't take it as seriously.

The laws have just changed in Australia with OH&S, now if i accidentally kill someone on the job I'll most likely cop a $200,000 fine AND 5 years in prison.

The best info i picked up (well most culturally different info) is that in China if 4 people die in a work related incident theres no need to report it, if 5 die, then you have to. Every construction crew in China is a 4 man crew, if they all die, just send in the next 4.

Bardock42
First was really powerful. Third was good, too.

But second, gee, I wonder why there are no strict policies for two people putting a flag on a lamp in a fashion store next to a glass table.

Excellent commercials.

I certainly love these ads, though not necessarily for their gore. They tend to get the message across, though.

There are accidents.

The idea is that everyone of those "accidents" could have been prevented, and usually immediately beforehand, too. In the one with the kitchen staff, for example, the woman remarks on fat (or something) being on the floor and no one's cleaned it....seconds later, it's caused her massive trauma, if not death.

The other ones are similar. Improperly trained workers. Equipment just lying around. It's to get the idea off the ground that most "accidents" could be easily avoided. Rather effective, IMO, as it makes me want to question every cut-corner I see at work.

There is no way that any of those would be played in the U.S. on national TV
