OK all the replies seem to agree. But it's not spite - this is a powerful team (one of the most powerful rosters ever depicted in comics I think) so I chose a powerful foe. I did a gauntlet with the SoM vs other uber teams but it didn't get any responses so I thought what the hell I'll use Thanos instead.

But I've basically come to the conclusion that Thanos would lose this even without the prep factor anyway.

Good point, I forgot about the JSA.

Even the modern team with members like C.M., Thunderbolt, Hourman (robot), Dr. Fate, Sentinel, Powergirl, Flash, Black Adam, Sand etc is a powerful lineup (although Sentinel & Fate would be kind of cancelled out here by also being in SoM).

Thanos reverse-engineers the Team's prep so that he now has two weeks prep, and solos the team.
