Same Sex relationships... "Cheating" or not?

I was at a party the other night and this came up as a topic of discussion so I figured run it by everyone here to see what you guys thought of it.

Ok let's say that your husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend makes it clear to you that in his/her mind having intimate relations with persons of the same sex to be no different than having intimate relations with persons of the opposite sex. You yourself(being Bi-sexual) disagree on the point and consider same sex relations to be completely different from relations with the opposite sex but agree to go along with you others policy in the matter in order to stay together(because you know that he/she will dump you rather than share you, even if it's with someone of the same sex). Then at some later point you end up messing around with someone of the same sex, and lie about it to your other.

So does what you did constitute "cheating" even though you yourself never believed it to be so? If it is "cheating", then how much is to much? Does the cheating begin with the first kiss, when/if you sleep together, or when you lie to your significant other and keep it from them?

Is there your way of telling us you're bisexual?

But yes, cheating is cheating, regardless of gender.

BackFire
Of course it's cheating. Silly question.

I know it seems fairly obvious, but you'd be surprised at the way the Bi-sexuals at the party reacted. They insisted it was COMPLETELY different with people of the same sex and people of the opposite sex so it doesn't count. According to them, it is an ridiculous and unreasonable way to feel about it in the first place.

Well, then those bisexuals are foolish.

Of course it's cheating.

What if it's just stuff like kissing and making out? I know it's a dumb question, but it was specifically brought up that as long as there was no actual sex involved there was no way it could be considered cheating with people of the same sex.

There are always strings attached. Yes, it's cheating.

inimalist
if it weren't cheating it would be discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation...

are you saying you are a homophobic misogynist?

dadudemon
It might have been AdamPoe who said it but I can't remember who they worded..it was so elegant.

I will just put it in my words: It is cheating no matter how you try to justify it. If you hang around those types of bisexuals then you are just hanging around people who like to get off with anyone and everyone. A bunch of non-committal nymphos, imo.

Bisexuality is not an excuse to cheat.

If you know for a fact that your partner is not ok with you kissing somebody else then yes, doing so would be cheating.

They're just making excuses. The sex of the person you are cheating with doesn't negate the fact that it's cheating all the same.

If they consider kissing a woman to be cheating, then kissing a man is cheating too, whether or not the person has a dick of pussy makes no difference.

In short, they're full of shit.

leonheartmm
its CHEATING.

So Swingers are cheaters?

Swinger do so with their partner's knowledge and consent don't they?

WrathfulDwarf
I dunno that's why I'm asking. Only swingers I know are in porn videos.

Swingers aren't really in relationships though, right?

That was my idea of swingers..... Just people messing around, not being "serious".

inimalist
Swingers are not cheaters.

"Cheating" is breaking the trust of the partner, if something is done with consent, then its really not betrayal. imho

Devil King
Yes, swingers involve their partners.

And yes, cheating is cheating. There's not really a lot of room for further debate and the inclusion of what-ifs and maybes.

chillmeistergen
Yes, it's cheating. Plus, you're a cretin.

Robtard
Now that, that foolishness is solved, let's move on to the next silly question.

Is it cheating if the "cheating" is done while you're in a different zip code than your partner?

No.

Nor is it cheating if the person you're screwing is dead (a technicality I learned in middle school science).

In a monogamous relationship, any behavior that one would not participate in with the express knowledge of his partner is infidelity. In other words, if you would not do it if your partner was present or had knowledge of it, then it is probably cheating.

Leo.M
Cheating is cheating. Gender has nothing to do with it.

Tempe Brennan
Doesn't matter what gender the other person is - cheating is cheating, no matter what sex you are, and even thinking of using the 'I'm bisexual' excuse is just a pathetic, and laughable

Devil King
"cheating is cheating, no matter what gender."

Can we just get this posted on the first page, so I don't have to hear it again? Or, the thread could maybe be closed since it won't inspire any other response.

Tempe Brennan
Well what other response is there to answer this?
