But when I saw that video of how they were torturing the cows, it kinda made me not want to eat red meat any more....

I watched the news on this, apparently the factory was abusing "downer" cows, i.e. cows too sick to walk. They were also using them as meat, despite the USDA regulations that said cows should not be used for consumption.

Which is what confused me. You can still send the meat off after the USDA says it's too sick?

Does anyone know the process?
