"Forty kids, ages 8-15, attempt to create an operating town in 40 days without the help of adults in a former New Mexico ghost town. The kids are responsible for all chores, including cooking, cleaning and running businesses. They also establish their own rules and set up a government. They hold a town-hall meeting at the end of each episode to talk about issues and to determine which one should win the Gold Star, worth $20,000."

I noticed the kids looked okay / really happy when the adult came in in the TV show, to choose who to award or to judge a contest, etc. The kids would also break out and even cry. I saw one even answered yes he wanted to go home right then and there. The kids, however, all look fat and expressionless in a way.

I'M JUST SOOOOO JEAOUS!!!!!!!!! bunny

There was a lot of debate that it was not okay because some kids got hurt through carelessness, like swallowing something and getting burned cooking or something.

I found this controversial:

"The show stresses the difficulty in creating a viable society. While each child received $5,000 for their involvement, Gold Stars valued at $20,000 and $50,000 were awarded to select outstanding participants as decided by the elected Town Council."

So, this show is essentially survivor for kids, right? What kind of supervision is offered?

This is actually a new iGeneration thing, not anything like done before.. The kids look different..

I see it is like Survivor in being a reality show.

I bet they also look different according to where they are from. I lived in 2 completely different places.

Age 0-12 - Florida
Age 12-20 - Louisiana (& Ohio Fall 2005)
Age 20-21 - Florida

I even got it recorded, I think, on our shared TV. I only saw a few episodes bc of my health and 'situations.' Not my fault.. I wanted to see it all and have it for my 'hallway collection..'

Don't you feel jealous of them??

When I made that Facebook Group, there were 2 other Boycott Groups. There were only like 100 Hate Groups on Dakota Fanning. For The Golden Compass there were Groups for For and Against. I made the first/only real one, I swear, but I couldn't get through more than like 1,000: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=10089970010

Our local channel here airs the show. It is really interesting to see those kids manage things for themselves.

Tempe Brennan
They don't manage everything themselves, and they must have supervision - or else who is filming the shows? I am sure they'd have some sort of adult supervison, to a level.

Yea, an adult comes sometimes to judge the contests. They were provided with things and told what to do. They are only there for a stretch. The part I would not like at all is that this is 40 days long. It might be neat to get together with other kids, wondering if they are good influences, though.

I caught two shows on demand, last week. It seems like an interesting gimmick, If i watched this show again, though, it would be just to see little kids cry. I know, im cruel, but its true...

It helped give me grounding to see it, to know that being attractive and young can get you virtually anything, from life and imagination, and beyond.

I was set to record all of them, but I share a TV and am sick, so I didn't quite get the collection. I feel I missed out because I didn't know of its existence as soon as I could have, but at least a few months early.

It really has changed my life. Whenever I'm down, I just take a rest and try to look like a little kid, or teenager.. and everything is all better.. being thin really does not hurt and neither does being stress-free from the world, to be secluded at will.. It would be very easy for me to get in there, in the show, and not have any problems, as long as I looked perfect. It's when you're fat that ppl start backing away from you like you have e col i. It just proves that when young people get together, they all start killing each other. Did you see what they did? I felt sorry for the kids who looked ethnic because of their family. The show got in trouble for the kids eating non-food things lying around, maybe just carelessly or because they were tired still, and burning themselves. Some of them probably got sick, I think. They were yelling at each other and of course had the "crazy" fire massacre. I'm sure they learned a lot from it.. and so did the people who could watch it. I'm glad all in all they did something..

It looks as though they are on a camping trip with the family in the background. I like to point out how they light up when an adult is around.

(How was my post, was it a real save-the-day?) Thanks for all your kind posts in my Threads. smile

That's scary to know that you feel, being young and attractive gets you anything you want. Although...,there may be some truth to that.
Yeah, i saw a few confrontations, they are funny. I like watching the show to see how well the children have been raised
