He gets an Oan Power Ring a hundred years of training with Kilowog and 10 of Galactus' obscure robots. He gets a couple of years to plan his attack, but DC gets wind of it a day ahead at the least, depending on what he does during preparation.

Can Thing clobber DC with his craggy green light?

Agreed. He's much more suited for a Lantern Ring.

He'd still lose, without a doubt.

But he'd make a much more formidable lantern than castle.
