I'm trying to ease my wife into watching mob movies. Any recommended starter flicks?

GrillingNemo
Try Wisegal its on tomorrow @9 on lifetime its not all blood and guts but its about the mob.

=Tired Hiker=
Why beat around the bush, just pop in Goodfellas! thumb up

jaden101
donnie brasco

its got johnny depp in it...always a hit with the ladies

the departed
road to perdition
the untouchables

they're some of the better, less violent, more chick friendly mob films

suprmanvsbatman
Casino would be a good one to start off with as it isn't that dark

Impediment
Try The Sopranos.

Best. Series. Ever.

sithsaber408
Johnny Dangerously. stick out tongue

My Cousin Vinny, actually. Good way to move on to Goodfellas.

Also, the original Godfather is intelligent, well written and has excellent acting and only scattered scenes of strong violence spread throughout the 3 hours of the film.

Plus, it's a draw for showcasing young Robert Duvall, young James Caan, young Diane Keaton, and young Al Pacino in his first starring role. That should help generate some interest.

suprmanvsbatman
I dont think the Godfather would be a very good first mob flick to watch with it beng 3 hours long. I'd say Goodfellas, Casino etc even some Sopranos, then if she likes it move her on to the heavier stuff like The Godfather 1, 2 just never ever watch the third lol

jaden101
everyone mentions goodfellas and casino...but i've never known a single woman who liked either of them...too crass, too much swearing and too much violence for them

Schecter
the godfather.

High Priest
Made is pretty decent mob film .

Thats weird i know lots and lots of girls/woman who like these films

idowhatiamtold
I think Wisegal or Donnie Brasco!!! Wisegal is a bit girly but not too much. I saw it this weekend. Alyssa Milano was pretty good. Donnie Brasco has Johnny Depp in it. Need I say more. LOL.

guess i just know a classier standard of women than you do then

MildPossession
So classy women can't enjoy films like Goodfellas...

Instead of The Departed, show her the original film Infernal Affairs first, and if she likes it, show her the other two in the trilogy.

One of my favourites is Abel Ferrara's The Funeral, definitely one to see.

jaden101
i notice that was a statement rather than a question...hahaha

Try the Godfather. Its a "mob" film yeah, but its easily the most engrossing and exquisite.

I doubt it, you come from Scotland.

Robtard
Hahaaha... burn.

Anyhow, 'Layer Cake' is a decent mob-ish flick; it has Daniel Craig, so that should please the women.

=Tired Hiker=
My Blue Heaven is a good starter.

well considering I stay in Scotland and he was talking to me when he said it. it doesn't really matter if he's from scotland lol.

exanda kane
No, Chillmeistergen's comment still works.

suprmanvsbatman
How could it still work if hes saying he knows classier woman and chillmeistergens saying that he couldn't no classier woman than me cause hes from Scotland, when I am from Scotland aswell,it would have worked if he commented on which particular part of Scotland.

chillmeistergen
I replied to the comment as if it had been directed at me. Plus, as I do know a fair few lasses that do like Good Fellas etc. It could well have been directed at me.

exanda kane
Yes, it still works; if you both live in Scotland and C-Man doubts Jaden knows classier women than you, surely it comes down to the fact that there are no classy women in Scotland. I really didn't want to spell it out, but it still works.

Of course, I have nothing against the Scots and their delightful principality.

suprmanvsbatman
exanda kane see you were wrong he was sayi it as if he was aiming it at him. OMG could you be wrong no expression

exanda kane
Yet it still works.

MildPossession
Definitely smile

It was all in jest, Jaden and me aren't takign it personal. Friendly jabs combined with the on-topic post, make this place more pleasant, imo.

Impediment
Ah. Ok, then. excellent
