No Fantastic Four 3?
Source: MTV
March 20, 2008

We're not really surprised by Chris Evans' comments to MTV, because 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios are leaning more towards a Silver Surfer spin-off with a script by J. Michael Straczynski than they are moving forward with a third Fantastic Four movie.

"I'm pretty sure we won't do one," Evans said, adding that as far as he's concerned, it's "a closed book."

Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige last summer said the Silver Surfer movie had been "moved to the forefront" of discussions. And just last month, Straczynski said the spin-off will cover the origin of the character and will feature Galactus.

If the second fantastic four movie is the last one hopefully a reboot is on the way.

super pr*xy
thank goodness. those movies were abysmal. good decision in focusing all effort towards silver surfer. maybe the won't f*ck that one up...

I am yet to find a necessary reason for SUrfer being in the second movie. Of course, marketing is the obvious and most likely, only answer. Fantastic four 2 was the most expensive cheap piece of shit ive ever sat through. However, im not going to go into that, the shit list for Rise of the Surfer is endless. The failure of these movies is sad, considering that the movies had an incredible cast.

Having seen how the Surfer was portrayed, visually, in Rise of the surfer. I would very much like to see him in his own separate movie. As long as the film has a respective budget and holds no ties what so ever to the turd that was fantastic four 2. I think a Silver Surfer movie could be gold. I do not trust this producer, however. Galactus will have to resemble his appearance in the fantastic four movie and i dont know well that would work. It would take a perfect screenplay to make this movie work

Kazenji
They need to stay away from the Ultimate marvel comics for these fantastic four related movies, Seriously a cloud for galactus with the second movie. I know its something along those lines in the ultimate fantastic four comics but i'd rather see him as the gigantic being from space as i know him.

AlmightyKfish
Well, Marvel has confirmed we'll see the REAL Galactus in this film.

I wouldn't mind him looking like he did in MUA, that was realistic in itself.

LORD B
anyone know when the surfer movie is due to come out?

Dark-Jaxx
Galactus isn't a cloud anymore? YAYZ!!!

Kazenji
If they can do Godzilla and king kong these days with CGI then Galactus should'nt be any different.

Problem there is the non-comic audience. A giant purple-clad man with a stupid-looking antenna hat isn't the easiest thing to sell to an audience who gets mystified with super-cosmic power and anything that doesn't seem at least somewhat plausible. Much as comic fans don't like to admit it, the movies aren't made for us...they're made for the much larger general audience. Among all the faults of FF2, the Galactus-cloud was one of the only decisions I actually understood and agreed with.

Yet an alien that looks exactly like us and wears underwear over his pants is an easy sell stick out tongue

I seriously think the choice to make galactus a giant cosmic cloud was because of budget. This would also explain why the SIlver Surfer took a back seat to the story and screen time. You cannot tell me that if a non comic audience can accept a giant man made of rock, a man whom stretches and a cosmic warrior that flies around on a surf board as being fine. They cannot accept the true form of galactus. It is fantasy, people that pay to see these movies, comic fan or not, know what to expect.

I just hope they do not hype this movie with an awesome teaser trailer and the actual film is a letdown.

Is this gonna be a prequal to FF2 or is set after FF2, cause the origin could be flashbacks but I dunno...

Either one looks perfect for adapting onto film.

But still. I know regular peeps might think it is too strange for their liking.

SnakeEyes
Honestly, I'm sick and tired of film directors, producers, writers, studios, etc. (whoever is responsible really) trying to "appeal" to the regular people. It defeats the purpose of making a quality adaption of stories such as this. People might respond to what I'm saying by stating "Well if they didn't appeal to the masses, then the movie wouldn't get funding or it wouldn't do well at the box office!" To that, I say two things: 1) Box office doesn't mean shit. Let me repeat that, it does not mean shit. Box office numbers determine how many shitty sequels are going to made and what dumb movie our stupid audience prefers on any given weekend. This is not the definitive rule, but I think many of you get my point. 2) If a filmmaker wants to make a quality adaption (or film for that matter) there are ways to get around any obstacles that might be spawned from this. If one really cares about the project they are investing time in, they wouldn't produce a piece of garbage under any circumstances, or at least they would make a solid attempt at making something worthwhile. I know I would.

ScarletSpeed
It makes me want to cry sometimes no expression how hard is it to just stick to the basic concept of a comic, rather than changind things no expression e.g Spiderman organic web fluid and giant galactus space cloud laughing out loud

Dark-Jaxx
Make Galactus look like this.

Exactly. It isn't hard to do good rendition of Galactus on the big screen. It was either a budget issue or just the creators lacking imagination. Saying the audience wouldn't accept it is a total copout.

fredstawill
a reeboot wud be shit since the acters wer perfect its just the 1st movie was average but the 2nd was alright, but a silver surfer origins wud be amazan!

SpaceMonkey
The movies weren't THAT bad. McMahon was good as Dr. Doom. Alba sucked BADLY as Invisible Girl, but Evans and Chiklis were good also.

Ivalice
Honestly its not like they can't slightly modify the appearance of galactus to make him look more appealing, storys lame ass excuse as to not showing galactus was that "he didn't want to reveal something that big in this movie but left it to the SS spin off".

But with that being said ROTSS has hinted that there IS something behind the cloud(the fiery mass helmet, the shadow on saturn and the mechanical claws) which meant that galactus was not the cloud itself.

Ivalice
Ok well to further debunk the "galactus cloud" theory, click this link http://www.amazon.com/Fantastic-Four-Silver-Surfer-Blu-ray/dp/B000VNMMPW.

It basically shows the game which is in the blu ray disc of ROTSS and the pictures which shows galactus avatar on the solar system is his fiery face which shows his eyes,

I love both movies and i bet another one will be made sometime, i am just glad in this day and age ,that i can go see a movie with some of my favorite comic characters and be entertained...which i was greatly smile

Batroc
I didn't like the first film at all, but I enjoyed the second one a lot, and I thought it captured some of the charm of the 60's comic. I'd much prefer to see an FF3 than a Surfer movie, but that doesn't look likely. I really can't understand the hate for FF2, but I think the film will endure, while the Spidey and X-Men series will date quite quickly.

ScarletSpeed
I believe it is the opposite.

Bardamu
About Galactus, they can make slight modifications on the armor, the colors, and so on... The cosmic cloud was not a bad idea but I prefer original Galactus ^^

About Silver Surfer, I hope this will be not the board who will give him his powers but the Cosmic Power.

marwash22
Im actually kinda happy to hear there wont be another movie cus villain-wise, there isnt much for them to explore. Cant do Skrulls cus they pretty much killed that in the second movie and all theyre other villains are on too large a scale. No one wants to see Mole-Man.

Maybe they can be in the second Incredible Hulk

K3VIL
I dunno where Marvel pick up directors and writers, but each one of us in this forum could have make a better FF4 movie franchise.
Silver Surfer was ruined in the second movie.Being tortured by Russian soldiers? The guy is a herald for god's sake. And since when his board can teleport things away?I hope they reboot the franchise with a director able to make the FF4 the next Incredible Hulk, speaking of a good comic book movie.

Scoobless
If I were involved in Marvel's movie decisions I'd stay as far away from Silver Surfer movie as possible. I just can't see it working out.

Stick to more human characters that laymen can actually relate to.

ultimatethor
The silver surfer movie is going to fail badly if marvel is not careful. first of all they will have to do something about that whole power coming from board mess that they created in FF2.IMO He was portrayed as being below top tier in that movie. There will have to be a drastic change from the shitty way he was portrayed in FF2 if they want the movie to be succesful. SS fights on the galactic scale and him being tortured by russian soldiers in FF2 will make it difficult for people to watch him taking it to Galactus. Im also a bit concerend about the big Gs portrayal in the movie. It is certainly possible to do it well but id b really dissapointed if he comes out loooking wretched.

no reboot, actors fit their roles but change writers and directors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!

fredstawill
they would probs hav it so he travels as a cloud but changes into physical form to make more sense of him quiring around in a space ship

Alpha Centauri
The Silver Surfer's COMICS don't really sell hugely well, which is why he doesn't have his own ongoing comic anymore.

A movie isn't going to do any better.

There's a specific crowd that actually wanna give time to a philosophical, god-like being who barely uses his powers, and it ain't the kinda crowd that watches Disaster Movie; everyone.

I'm fairly certain it's got more to do with him being absolutely wrong, to be honest.

K3VIL
McMahon was a great casting, the script was wrong, with a proper one, he could become a legend for portraying Doom.

Alpha Centauri
He was absolutely horrible, what's wrong with you?
