Here Darkseid begins to absorb other New Gods adding to his power, even the New Gods and the Green Lantern Corps working together could not phase Darkseid. He was absorbing their power and growing stronger. It was Big Barda who just gained a power ring and the deceased Mister Miracle who transferred his mind into a motherbox and then became the power ring reversed the Omega Doom and caused Darkseid to blow up instead of everything else

I remember when someone stole our tiers thread to post on HC. When pressed, nearly everyone would admit that the vast majority of the list was correct. But that was only when I pushed...otherwise, they were content to say things like "Wow, KMC is so stupid lollzors!" and point only only the ones they disagreed with.

No, in the Superboy arc Hyper-Tension it was speculated that there is only one Metron, but in the same story there were several different versions of Knockout. There's also been an inconsistency among some writers as to where Apokolips/New Genesis are. Most portrayals set them in an alternate universe, but some go with it being a "closed galaxy" as Starlin envisioned it. In JLA: Rock of Ages, Metron states:

"For in the game of Gods, creation itself is the playground. Sometimes Darkseid wins; sometimes we win. Each time, the universe is remade, as you have witnessed. In the end, balance is served."

It looks like Final Crisis is going to take that statement and run with it. The way I'm intrepretting it, there's only one "true" set of New Gods, but they manifest is infinitely different ways throughout different times, places, and continuums.


Anyway, great thread. I'm glad you didn't miss the Superman: Confidential issues. I really liked that story. Had a feel to it like the 90's Superman toon.

It's the classic royalty story. A prince or princess isn't expected to marry for love, but to marry someone 'befitting' a king in blood and rank, possibly for political advantage.

It is all very vague thus far. He's taken over control of Dan Turpin's body thus far. The rest has been done with his technology and his forces and his intelligence (Anti Life Equation, Time Bullet, his various gods).

Where was Grant Morrison when writers like Loeb and Jurgens were turning Darkseid into a brawling top tier, with energy beams?

It amazes me how some of his past writers failed to add gravitas to the most diabolical being in the universe. DS hurts you, you don't walk away from a fight with him without losing something.

I may not agree with some of the stuff Morrison introduces (miracle machine, Kalibak losing to Tawky Tawny of all people etc.) but I got to love how big a New Gods fan he is.
