ok, so this is pretty bad. looks like the siegels are going to kill superman off after all. damn it. if the siegels have to be paid for every damn thing superman is in, he's going to cease to be a lucrative character for time warner and dc, thus they won't use him anymore. no more superman comics, movies, tv shows, etc. seriously, what the hell is wrong withe the siegels?

They're human.

And, therefore, greedy, selfish pieces of shit. We all are deep down.

i wouldnt go that far... sure they'll get a slice of the profits, but i'm sure supes'll still be lucrative enough...

Pretty nice overreaction there.

As far as the general comic fan is concerned, nothing is going to change at all.

I would do the same thing if i were them, think of the money they will make, plus its pretty shit that Shuster and Siegel only got $130 for the rights. obviously Superman isn't going to stop being made cause of this. he is too popular and too much of an icon to just stop producing his comics/cartoons/movies etc

yo ucant blame them, they barely got anything for creating one of the worlds best characters, they basically stated modern super heroes, look at all the recognation stan lee gets, there is no reason they shouldnt be up there with him

Sam Z
They didn't do it they dad or granddad did.

And I doubt it was him

I hope they suffer.

Magee
I don't understand this at all. Isn't this a bit like me selling a company and 60 years later wanting millions of pounds because It's now the most successful business in the world? They sold the character all them years ago but because of it's success they are some how entitled to more money or complete ownership again? Or am I missing some thing?

emporerpants
it all depends on if they get creative control or not i suppose. they're not getting that are they?

The heirs of Siegel & Shuster already won the rights to Superboy - that's why Superboy Prime was renamed Superman Prime.

What's next for Big Blue? Is his rights up to the higest bidder? eek!

They don't give a crap about creative control. It's purely about money.

And roughrider, no.

I got a question since I am not good with all this copyright things!!! Okay so I know that the people who made Superman were about 71 years ago and they are long dead. So if Dc Comic loses Superman what does it mean? Will they have to change his name, or something? Will DC still make Comic, movies, and animated series?????

if they lose him, superman will literally not ever be mentioned in any dc product again... that means comics, cartoons and movies...

OMG what are the chances of them losing him? How does dc still use superboy-prime, or now superman-prime?

dc can't use the name superboy, so they changed him to superman prime, but seeing as everything super-esque comes from superman, pretty much everyone with an s shield would either have to change their names or just disappear...

So what are the chances of them really winning in this court case?

superman is as essential to dc as any character could be, they'd fight tooth and nail to keep him... if they DID somehow lose him, i don't know what they'd do...

can they win it? im not sure... dc and warner would spare no expense to fight to keep him, i cant see them realistically losing him...

Worst comes to worst, DC keeps this in courts for decades.

Won't really affect anything in our lifetime. stick out tongue.

Seriously, though; DC won't lose Superman.

Who knows keep this tied up in courts long enough to bankrupt the greedy? Then when they can no longer afford the lawyers (the greedy not DC) DC might get the rights back due to defaulting?

xJLxKing
Doesnt the amendment say that if you can't afford for a lawyer one will be appointed to you?
