Old school versus new school! Who wins?

The one who wrote the book on Willpower will win.

Is that pic from an actual issue? I saw them fake-fight when Kyle was a rookie, but it wasn't going all out.

Anyway, Alan. Trickery wouldn't mean much against another seasoned GL...and one who can match or better Kyle in raw power.

Kyle was giving it to Sentinel in JLA/JSA: Virtue and Vice for a little bit. However, it was broken up by Mr. Terrific.

Wasn't that when Alan revealed that he took time out of his schedule to write a book entitled 'Willpower'?

Alan.

Kyle has better feats.
Kyle has beaten better opponents.

Not quite sure why Alan gets treated like Hal Jordan on this forum but it's pretty funny.

I do it because I'm a mild fanboy, and I can get away with it on KMC because Alan gets lots of love here.

But you're probably right. Hal and Kyle have the best feats, though I would like to point out that Alan isn't far behind them and is a clear #3. A lot of his stuff is from the PC era (Golden/Silver Age) when GLs didn't always do the massive-scale things that they do today (and when his opponents, like Grundy for example, weren't team wreckers they are today).

alan scott seems pretty cool to me...he's pretty unique compared to other GLs (only one with a cape)

also, its a pretty big honor that he was chosen as the GL in Kingdom Come

Well the thing about Alan is that he's pretty consistent. Actually outside of Superman and Batman, he's probably the most consistently well portrayed hero in the DCU.

Unlike Hal and Kyle (especially Countdown Kyle, yikes), he never looks bad but also unlike Hal and Kyle, he never looks amazing either. On a forum that's supposed to be about top portrayals, I think that does him in against either one of them.

Now if you took average portrayals, he'd probably be considered the top Lantern.

Alan has this ill defined obsession with trying to strangle people from behind.

Black Adam, Superman Prime and Gog, all characters whom he has attempted to physically choke....

Looks like the most powerful metahuman in the galaxy got taken out by a wooden stake.

I...have nothing to add. This is why Val's among my favorite debaters.

Alan also doesn't take the spotlight often anymore. The GL books have been about Hal/Kyle. Hell, even Guy and random others get more facetime. And JSA is about story and characters...Alan's there as a guiding hand (along with Jay, etc.) but doesn't actually fight as often as most.
