Alright, so I need some help trying to figure out which colours are aligned to which faction. Or maybe colours don't even matter?

Anyway, what I know so far is...

Blue = Jedi Guardian
Green = Jedi Consular
Yellow = Jedi Sentinel
Red = Anything Sith
Purple = Used by both factions
Veridian = Used by both factions

What about orange, silver, cyan and all the other colours? Does it matter?

Just trying to clear things up.

MadMel
it doesnt really matter, although generally (with several exceptions) -
blue = padawan
green/blue = master
purple = badass
red = evil

Ushgarak
The colours you are giving at the start there are a. EU and b. even within the EU, pure conjecture.

They don't really mean anything.

At least Anakin had his way with everything... Clothing, sabercolor and Force knows what else.

queeq
EU!!!! Moving.

tauros
It doesn't matter. The Sith used/use red lightsabers because they only found red diamonds

In canon (judging by the films or statements by Lucas) it seems Jedi almost always prefer blue or green lightsabers. The little younglings in Attack of the Clones had green lightsabers so that totally knocks the EU thing about green usually being used by higher ranking Jedi.

So far in the films Sith have always used red lightsabers. Anakin obviously had a blue lightsaber before he transformed into mechanical Darth Vader because making a red saber was the least of his concerns during the events of the Revenge of the Sith.

Tangible God
Aside from KoTOR, I don't think there is any piece of EU material which aligns certain colours to certain attributes/ranks/experience, etc.

Captain REX
As far as the films go, the red lightsabers of the Sith were to signify that they were bad guys, while blue signified the good guys. Luke building a green lightsaber symbolized his development into a stronger Jedi.

In the PT, the blue and green and purple don't really signify anything except that they're good guys.

Ushgarak
Though literally Luke holding a green sabre was about "oh crap, a blue one doesn't show up on the Tatooine skyline."

Captain REX
Very true.

zhellblah
yeah. this is total nonsense. Ki Adi Mundi used a blue lightsaber and he's not a padawan. Aayla Secura used both a blue and a green saber. so she's intermediate? no. it's toatl nonsense.

Captain REX
That's why we've been saying that the colors don't actually signify anything other than recognizing who's good and who's bad in the original films.

pgdarth95
i would like the color cyan Happy Dance

pgdarth95
alya secura uses puprl and blue u retard
big grin

Lord Knightfa11
wow. no she doesnt.

From swrepublic Ayla undercover:

its quite obvious she uses one blue lightsaber. Star wars battlefront II gave her two so there would be a dual user to match up against general grevious in multiplayer celeb deathmatches, and to make an easy to play character for chicks.
