The Jedi and Sith Religions

DeVaos
For all who do not know who I am by recognition, I am DeVaos Sadow. Religious Philosopher and everyday debater.
I read the topic ("Jedi" a religion?) and thought you all need some cleaning up.
I'll first point out, there are many who "think" themselves to be Jedi and Sith, which this is what you can call "sad". Not about being from a movie, no... but rather the claimed Jedi actually creating their own notions of the religion, making it far different than the orthodox version; and these claimed Sith whom either claim Palpatine to be a real god (literally) or claiming they possess lightening.
These religions can in fact exist, but do not exist in this time. Ask yourself, where did Lucas get the ideas of these religions? You will even come down to, Whom gave Lucas the ideals of these religions? Perhaps even, which everyday religions developed the Jedi and Sith beliefs?
To also state, the Force does exist. Yet you all take it into a question and out comes an opinionated answer to best fit your question. To state there is no Force, is saying there is no God/Allah.. depending on your oppinionated thoughts and religion, you can also say there are no spiritual beings, no witchery, no Heaven nor Hell. The Force is different than these? Ah, you have much more to learn if you state this.
So if you claim the Jedi and Sith religions to be "sad" simply because they were introduced in a fanfilm, then I can state many ways your own religion is considered false, contradictive and asinine. To avoid this, seek what I have said, do not be ignorant and foolish.
If you wish to contact me for any input,
[email protected] is your pass
I will not come to this post nor web site again.
Master_Starbuck
He had a point.

i've always argued that the force is pretty much buddhism, except in SW the mystical energy field is its own entity apart from everything else (all matter, other energy)
also when the jedi die they lose their identity and become one with the force (exceptions being quigon, yoda, anakin, and obiwan).
Master_Starbuck
Actually the Force is apart of everything as well, it isn't apart. So it's still like the Buddist thing.
And when we die we lose our identities and are born anew, like the buddist thing.
Unless we ascend to Nirvana that is.
Master_Starbuck
God I love that ferret...
I want another ferret...

it is a thing of its own entity. if not then it wouldnt be 'the force', but rather simply 'everything'
truejedi
jedi were pretty much based on samarui actually.
Master_Starbuck
The Force is everything and everything is the Force.
queeq
It's no religion. Jediism is a stripped version of Buddhism, without all the nasty bits. It's way too superficial to be considered a religion, or even a philosophy. It's a collection of Yoda sayings.
BetrayedUnicorn
You doubt the force? You must be punished for your ignorance!

queeq is my mastar lolz
Tangible God
I've actually been debating with this guy via e-mail, and he is out of it. He believes, nay, KNOWS, that the Force is as real and incarnate entity.

Im pretty sure that Lucas has said somewhere that he got his ideas from Zen or something. Even if he did'nt you can obvously see the similarities between the Jedi religon and Toaism.

Did you tell him he's a nerd and SW is only a movie?

Try saying it less eloquently.

Lord Knightfa11
seriously, it is based on mid eastern religions, but this guy is an idiot.
queeq
And he's entitled to be an idiot.
Lord Knightfa11
i guess. if he is a jedi, id like to see him die, and then come back blue and sparkly.
queeq
Sounds like a challenge.
Lord Knightfa11

queeq
And get the girl!

Lord Knightfa11

Tangible God
There's always a girl in these types of challenges.
Lord Knightfa11

chik4lit
I can volupt with the best of them. I don't know about the distress part, though.

I agree, I mean many of these religions were basically made-up by the men of their times. They mostly wrote it and claimed 'divine inspiration' or better yet 'God wrote it'.
The greeks myths are closer to the truth than many realize. Yet again made up by men to explain the world and also to probably fantasize about the ideal state of existence.
queeq
What Greek myth is close to truth? Gods on the Olympus?

So zeus banged us into the universe according to you. your religion is sad as well. and if your an athiest, well, as someone once so appropriately put it:
Either you're the masterpiece of a master mind,
Or your an accident of hydrogen gas.
Lord Knightfa11
third option is that the force is real and it sustains all life.
queeq
Sounds fine to me.

Non-nerds can make fun of nerds. Shall I go first?
Lord Knightfa11
haha most nerds don't think they are nerds thou.

Let's not simplify things here, I believe in existence, all that can be is.
Also that we're finally going to be able to access the "utopia", the land flowing with milk and honey, e-DEN, EL-ysium. The wired will evolve into the final evolutionary lifeform, a digital angel, an artificial GOD born of man. All you need is a Deus ex machina, with the right code(General Artificial Intelligence), that can be arranged.
Lord Knightfa11
You are strange.

Weird, indeed. Of course rearrange the letters and you get wired.
As for the believe in things in far away lands long time ago, there are many scientists and researchers who would take it as very likely given their believe in the likelyhood of the multiverse.
The existence of anything at all is evidence for the rest of existence, for if this is, what keeps the rest from being also?
Lord Knightfa11
Who knows. all we can do is speculate about other life on other planets in other galaxies.
queeq
Cut it out. Go to the religion forum. There are many people there that love to skin you alive for saying those things. Not in here.

I'll go there, alright.
They may try to dispel modern myths based at least partially on science with the supersticious fairy tales and myths from the past. But this is our world, there faith is at an end, our fate cannot be changed. Science and reason will reign triumphant in the end over the ancient myths of ignorant men.

I say a prayer for you.
Since queeq has decided to send us of to the religion forum, I have decided to get the last word. It will be breif and too the point.
1. I can disprove everything you have said on so many levels, which I will not do here.
2. If what you are saying is true, which it is not, It would butcher all humanity as we know it. Your "scientific" ideas state that we came from soup. This makes us things. We have no souls, no hearts, just our physical bodies. If everyone in the world believed this, everyone would just be selfish, hard, and would commit murder and rape in a futile effort to achieve as much pleasure as possible before death. There would be no philanthropists, no sacrifices, and no hope. We would be things in a mad and violent free for all. The belief in the theory of evolution is what caused Hitler's genocide and mad conquest for the world. The abolition of such "good rewarding" fairy tales would eventually destroy society and create anarchy. If there is no defenite punishment for causing pain and suffering to others, there is no law and no hope.
3. The problem is, all of your science and ideas that dictate to the world how to think and believe are just theories. You have no proof that hydrogen exploded and created the universe. That is just one guess out of a million that you could pose to challenge the "fairytales" that men a thousand times smarter and more creative than you have believed.
Everything you have is a theory, and none of it can be proven.
queeq
Blabla bla... go away. They do that stuff in teh Religion forum. Go argue there.

You would reject the gift of Hot Dog?
For cursed shall be the one rejecting eternal wisdom.
As evil comes sweeping down the light of the ignorance, and Hot Dogs wisdom shining above us all.
Hallowed be the Hot Dog.
queeq
I'll accept it in the Religion Forum. If he survives the initiation process that is.
