Those of you who stayed till after the Iron Man credits rolled saw Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury talk about the "Avenger Initiative".
You think Marvel will release a Thor and Captain America movie before coming with an Avenger movie? I know DC is coming out with a Justice League movie, I wonder if this is Marvels answer to the JLA.
Darth Vicious
The JLA movie has been scrapped, at least for the time being. As for the Avengers team, IDK. A storyline based on the Ultimates title seems like a good choice.
Entity
It's great to talk about and it was sweet to get hyped when we all saw the after credit teaser with Jackson but seriously it'll never happen.
Too many characters and to many good actors needed for the studios to be willing to really put the time and effort, not to mention money, needed for a huge project like that. It's just to hard for them to get that many names together and divide all the screen time to the point where everyone's not bitching about something.
So sorry but lets be real. Jackson may do a Shield or Nick Fury movie but Avengers, just like Justice League, will never happen. Aside from some more animated or shitty straight to DVD life action videos.

Ummmmm people the JLA movie is still happaning its set for 2009
Don't know where you've heard its been scrapped.

To my knowledge it has been scrapped. Where'd you read that its back on??
Iron Man 2 introduces Thor and a few months later Thor has his own film. The Cap America movie is tentatively title The First Avernger: Captain America
The Avengers movie is going to happen unless something happens that says otherwise..

The Avengers movie has to happen...
They are tying everything together...why do that if there isn't going to be one.
Iron Man with the end credits and The Hulk having Tony Stark in it,
The Cap movie is gonna get made
and as Bruce says, Thor is gonna be introduced in the 2nd Iron Man.
There is to much money to be made from an Avengers movie for them not to do it.
It will definitely happen, it is just a matter of when ?

The problem with a JLA movie is that those superheroes are so high profiles(Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman) that casting them will be the nightmare. Christian Bale and Brandon Routh would be cool but therein would lie the problem. I've already heard that if there was to be a movie made they would recast those 2 parts. That would suck.
The good thing about an Avengers movie would be that Downey and anyone they cast in future films(Thor, Captain America) would already be signed on to be in Avengers.
I love that Hugh Jackman will forever be Wolverine. Having different actors play the same character kills it.

Just to go a bit off topic cause you mentioned Wolverine...
Will we ever see him sport the infamous yellow suit and mask?
I wanna see the yellow suit and the mask

As a fan i really dont care. An Avengers movie would have to be perfectly cast and supported with incredible CGI and an appropriate script. The chances of all of these things happening is very slim. Before Iron Man it had been four years since a good Marvel movie, Spiderman 2. Four years worth of disappointments and utter failures has me kind of hoping Avengers never happens. Although, i'm sure i would be fuking retarded with excitement if i heard it were official. The only way a movie like the avengers could work is with the right Director. Singer did a decent job with the x-men and i thought Tim story did a great job at creating good chemistry between the cast in fantastic four.
I guess we will have to wait and see how well the Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Thor and Iron man sequel turns out. Who else would you all like to see in an avengers movie, and would there be a back story given to the characters who havent been given their own movies?
Fuk Sam JAckson, worst choice for Nick Fury EVER

It's all been confirmed on Marvel.com they've said Iron man 2 and thor in 2010 and Captain america and Avengers in 2011. Should be on their front page.

Blax_Hydralisk
Agreed. I can actually envision Sammy J being a good ultimate Nick Fury. Who would make a better ultimate version, hm? Morgan Freeman? Please.

Where did you hear about Thor will be introduced in iron man 2 ??
or is that some rubbish thats been made up on these forums....

They could just take 616 Nick Fury.
Why are they making Comic Characters "black"
Kingpin was, alicia Masters, well i dont know why Ultimate version of Nick Fury ist black. I am not a racist but it still bothers me.
I would have the same complain if they would make a Black Panther Movie with a white actor. it just doenst fit to the original comics.
ragesRemorse
I kind of agree with that. I used to feel as though i was having political correctness shoved down my throat, but this race transition only effected a couple small characters. i dont know that they could have found a better actor for the Kingpin. The actor was fitting in ability and size, they just made him a pussy. I came to the conclusion that they made Nick Fury black just because they wanted his presence to have more attitude. I am more concerned with the fact that sam jackson plays the same character in every movie and that i could kick his ass.

The JLA film has been scrapped... Armie Hammer was set to play Bryce Wayne/Batman in the JLA film and some other nitwit was playing Supes in the JLA movie.
Now I'd love an Avengers movie and look forward to seeing it in a few years.

jla is not gona have batman or superman do to them having there own franchise. basicly the 2 main heroes will be green lantern played by rap star common. and green arrow

Too many characters for my taste.
Now an Iron Man vs. Hulk movie I wouldn't mind.

Sam Jackson is clearly the only choice for the "ULTIMATE NICK FURY"
but for the original Nick fury lool, an aged brad pitt would be good.
Uhh, I think the Avengers movie would be really good with CGI and such...remember it wont be made for at least another 5 years

Four other films based on Marvel superheroes also were announced: "Thor," due out June 4, 2010; "The First Avenger: Captain America," May 6, 2011; "The Avengers," July 2011; and "Ant-Man," which is in development but has no release date.
This was in addition to Iron Man 2's apparent release date of April 30, 2010

When they created Nick Fury in the 1960's, they modeled his look after Dean Martin because he was The King Of Cool at the time.
Samuel Jackson is The King Of Cool right now, so that's why Utlimate Nick Fury was based on him, and why the movie version of him has him. Fury is one of those charcaters who is racially neutral; he could be white or black, unlike Luke Cage or The Black Panther.

It seems to me unlikely that an avengers movie would be made, but if back in the mid 90's you'd told me there would be three spider-man movies, a couple of hulk movies, Iron-man, x-men etc etc, I'd have said the same thing about those movies.....

I thought sam l jackson was the perfect choice for Nick Fury. And come to think of it, who's to say that Iron Man isn't the Ultimate Iron Man? So it would all make sense! Maybe Marvel is going that route and use the Ultimate Universe instead of the Normal (Earth 616) Marvel Universe to avoid having to summarize over 40 years of Iron Man stories (I'm not sure how long Iron Man's been around).
Symmetric Chaos
The thought of a CaptainAmerica movie makes me cringe for some reason.

In the movie they used a really great version of the 616 origin. Making it UltIM all of a sudden wouldn't make sense at all.

Mainly they have been using the Ultimate universe for the movie continuity.

I kinda Cringe when I think of the suit being made in real life and to be took seriously, although they would make it darker, cooler and more modern (most likely).

Why? Seems to me like an idea that could work pretty well, as long as the patriotic card isn't overplayed.

I can't think of a single Cap villain that wouldn't seem contrived to a modern movie audience (maybe RedSkull?) and Cap always seems be best as part of a team rather than on his own. Leadership is his most compelling ability, IMO, and that's hard to do show in a focused movie.

It will definitely be made,it just depends on how they make it though, it will be a war movie, and there is a chance it will be slightly(depending on who directs it) boring.
to be honest I just want to see Brad Pitt as Cap and Daniel Craig as The Red Skull, kicking the crap outta each other

and Cap punching Hitler...just once?

I'm pretty sure that Red Skull will be used along with the WW2 setting. It could be interesting to see how they handle a superhero movie in those settings IMO. I'm thinking that this movie will tie directly into the Avengers movie, perhaps like the animated movie handled it. Or they could have an easter egg with cap defrosted.
jcvaldez
Captain America has plenty of villains to choose from besides Red Skull. Although, Red Skull would be most likely choice for the main villain.
Other good choices....
Baron Zemo
Task Master (maybe as a secondary villain or henchman)
Mister Hyde
Protocide
or use some of the Avengers villains
Count Nefaria
Kang
Ultron (He would be better for the Avengers movie...This could be a way to introduce Henry Pym/Ant Man)
Either way, you know Cap will be fight a whole mess of Nazis

Yeah I think the whole Cap turning up in an ice cube found by Namor could actually be the way to go(seriously) they would probably do that in the second movie though.

it will be a war movie, then in The Avengers movie Namor will find Cap in a block of ice and present him to Tony Stark or Nick Fury, then he will be named leader of The Avengers

Would also lay the groundwork for Namor nicely.

Yeah, we seem to be on the same wavelength.
And I don't think the suit would look bad either way. If they gave it the proper feel of awe, patriotism and heroicity, it would look pretty damn sweet.
IMO.
I mainly say this because I had the same reservations about most of the heroes that have made it to half decent movies, and things turned out all right.

Yeah as long as the suit isn't sky blue, if it is dark blue and kinda gritty looking, as it should be, as it will be set in WW2.

The point, however, is that Marvel is going to particular lengths to tie these movies together. Nick Fury in Iron Man, Tony Stark in the Hulk, Thor in Iron Man; hell, at one point, it was going to be mention in Iron Man that Tony Stark had created Doctor Octopus's arms.
If they can create a cohesive "movie" canon, I think the Avengers could actually work.

If they make a Captain America, they will give him a more contemporary look. The suit would look stupid in real life to be honest. He'd probably just get regular military garb like.......

Just can't see him in his suit. May be once in the movie would be fine, like at the climax.

they would obviously give him his original suit, only modded a little to suit modern times, just like they have done with most comics...

besides The Flag suit is Cap's trademark and the Shield would just look dumb without it

Well Spider-Man wouldn't be Spider-Man without the suit!
I'm not suggesting a complete makeover for Cap. Obviously, he will still have his shield, but the flag suit will look a tad ridiculous - depending on the tone of the movie anyway. He'll probably have military garb, with his shield, but no mask. Do you remember the Punisher movie? The movie version will be changed in a similar manner, and he'll keep all of his identifiable symbols, like the shield as mentioned before and the star across the chest.

Sometimes you just have to refrain from using the suits.
