"And in this sort of race, there's no silver medal for finishing second!"
Whether it involves recovering the Ark of the Covenant, fleeing the Chinese mob, or nearly 'chopped into fish meat' in Venice harbour - Which is your favourite Indiana Jones getaway? and more importantly, why?
Admiral Akbar
For me it's the first one and the last one on the poll. I liked the Raiders chase, a lot, but the one in TLS really stuck out for me. Not only was the music fun and fast paced, which rivaled that of the Raiders chase, but there was great on-screen chemistry between Indy and his Father. That duo is by far the best.
queeq
The truck chase in Raiders.
exanda kane
I'm very fond of the motorcycle chace in Europe.
Spartan005
As much as I love the mine cart chase, I'm going to have to say I like the truck scene from Raiders the best. Indy just seems so badass in that chase for some reason....
Getting shot, almost getting run over, sliding beneath a very fast moving vehicle... its just awesome

I hear that

imo it hasnt been topped in any movie since (ones that require old fashioned stunts that are really well improvised)
Kazenji
The great chase for the cheeseburger.
Sadako of Girth
The truck sequence in Raiders is still mine.
(Not 'mine' as in "Mine cart chase", though)
Kazenji
I bet there will be a go kart chase in the next Indiana Jones.
Sadako of Girth
Low octane zimmer frame pursuit as Indy chases some aging nazi sympathisers round the bread aisle of the local supermarket.
queeq
Waving their canes and stuff... 'Yooh nohw vhaat vhee woohd hahf dohn wizz yoo in ze fazzerland?!"
Kazenji
Its gonna be a classic.

Inglourious Basterds 2....
Sadako of Girth
.......the musical?
queeq
Of course. What else?
Sadako of Girth
Marvellous.
Have you heard "Silence - The musical" yet...?
(Based on "Silence of the lambs"

queeq
I hope the songs are very silent.
Sadako of Girth
Have you not heard Multiple Miggs' touching ballad "If I could smell her c***"...?
Its quite the memorable tune.
queeq
Err... no.... He never tells me when he writes a masterpiece.
Sadako of Girth
This, then, must be the memo he forgot to send you: http://www.jonandal.com/silence.html
queeq
OMG.... That's superb...
Sadako of Girth
I knew you'd like it.

Sadako of Girth
I challenge you to fit Migg's song into a commercial presentation at work and have it approved.

queeq
Well, I am my own boss so that;s gonna be easy.
Sadako of Girth
Ahhhh then who pays you..? Substitute them for the word "Boss", should the terminology be problematic and there ya go...
queeq
Thanks for spoiling the day...
Sadako of Girth
Why? Did you do it? Were they not amused...?

queeq
They already thought I was crazy, this was no different.
queeq
It's great to be freelance.
Sadako of Girth
Are you Austin Powers...?

Kazenji
The man of mystery....
Sadako of Girth
Groovy, Baby!
Sadako of Girth
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh...!!!!!!!!
Sadako of Girth
"It tastes.......nutty."
Sadako of Girth
Never fails to crease me up.

Sadako of Girth
Moley-moley-molllllleyyyyyyy...!!!
queeq
Zip it... Zip... zip
Sadako of Girth
You're the margarine of evil...the diet coke of evil.
Sadako of Girth
I gotta a whole pre-emptive bag of "shhhhhhhhh!" with your name on it!
queeq
Yvonna.... Yvonna Humpalot...
Sadako of Girth
And I wanna gold plated toilet, but we cant always have what we want now, can we...?
queeq
And I call it... the " DEATH STAR"....
Sadako of Girth
Loved that "Alan Parsons project" gag too.
queeq
Hehehe... it was great.
Sadako of Girth
Heres Ferrell in the movies: http://www.filmdope.com/Gallery/ActorsF/5625-23275.gif That'll likely jog your memory.
queeq
Aha... Will Ferrell... Now I know why I blocked it out. I just can't seem to like this guy.
Sadako of Girth
Well you should have then remembered his painful, torturous fate then...
What about Anchorman...? Not a fan? I think it was genius.
queeq
Anchorman, no, didn't see that one. Heard people liked it but they alsoe liked other Ferrel films I didn't like... Like Blades of Glory.
Sadako of Girth
Im not into the other stuff, but Anchorman is awesome.
queeq
Then... I may look into it.
Sadako of Girth
Wont regret it I promise you.
If you can get through Burgundy's explanation of the origin of the placename "San Diego" without creasing up then, sir you have no soul.

queeq
That's a rather bold statement.
Sadako of Girth
It is, but it is a safe one.
Buy it, watch it, and prepare to love it.
queeq
Buy it??? I dunno...
Kazenji
Buy it if its cheap.
Sadako of Girth
If you dont buy it then, you will own yourself instead.

Sadako of Girth
In other words, its a classic and deliberately not buying it, would be self pwnage.
queeq
Ah...
...er...
... I don't see the problem.
queeq
Better get one then.
Sadako of Girth
I will tonight, no doubt.
(Business meeting with the boss and company.

)
queeq
Sounds like more than one beer.
Sadako of Girth
"One bourbon, one scotch, one beer..."
..except you'll most likely have to substitute 'four' for 'one'.

Sadako of Girth
And a good session it was too.

Sadako of Girth
Yep. Played as a six piece at a blues club..had a good set, listened to some great music from the other bands.. Transferred three hours of audio in the car on to the mac, planned out setlists, then proceeded to get stinking drunk: Was a good, productive meeting.
queeq
Sounds like it. I need meetings like that.
Sadako of Girth
Learn an instrument, learn the blues upon it, then join us for a meeting.
Alternatively, just turn up and drink.
If we play Holland, we'll give you a shout.

Sadako of Girth
You sounded very Jacob-like there when you said that.
Sadako of Girth
Always nice talking with you, Queeqob.
Sadako of Girth
Why arent you afraid...?
Sadako of Girth
LOST reference...... Have you not seen this week's yet..?
queeq
Yes yes... So I have to reply with another lost quote?
Sadako of Girth
Well...no....but "whats the point of being afraid..?" was such a classic.
Loved Locke's seemingly confused reaction to this just before he did what he did.
queeq
Okay... what's the point of being afraid?
Sadako of Girth
*Chucks Queeq down well*

queeq
Okay... what's the point of being afraid... afraid... afraid... afraid...?
Sadako of Girth
Well Well Well........
queeq
Indeed... deed....deed.
Sadako of Girth

Lol..ol..ol..ol
queeq
Er..yes.... Reached the bottom by now.
Sadako of Girth
Hopefully its not Sadako's well from Ringu....
...'cause Desmond would have been absolutely screwed.
queeq
Ah, just a bit of water and a skeleton.
So tell me, Sadako. Which Ring did you like best: the Japanese or the American. Sticking my neck out: I preferred the US one myself.
Sadako of Girth
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooo...!!
Bay got to you, didnt he...?!
What IS this madness you speak...?
The Ringu trilogy all the way.
The remake sucked royal amounts of ass jelly from the posterior of the originals.
Loved the first US version of the Grudge though.

queeq
Which I wasn't too impressed about.
Well, here's the thing. I saw The RIng (US) first and liked it. But then I heard all about how the Japanese version was so much better. So I bought the whole set with all movies in it. And I did like it. But personally I thought Verbinsky did a very good job and made it looks very beautiful. I though that added a lot to his movie. And personally I preferred the US version of the girl climbing out of the TV by far. It was way more impressive than the scene in the small Japanese living room.
Ring 2 sucked balls though.
Sadako of Girth
I thought that the US version's attack was artificial looking.
They buggered up the movement for a start.
The nature of the tape made less sense also.
More bang, less creepiness in the US one.
Oh on that we are agreed.
queeq
I'll have to watch it again. I guess, but I did like it's beauty, the visual motifs were much stronger in Verbinsky's version. IMHO OC.
Sadako of Girth
Yet somehow less abstract or impactful.
Its a similar criticism you applied to the Bjork stuff:
Too much trying to be arty when on those motiffs.
"Oooooh lets juxapose the cliched empty chair against the maggots and horses....that'll creep out the 12 year old art school viewers..."
"Oh wait! Now we have to write a pointless side plot about horses and insomnia"
Consequently, the inferior and less sense making story variants he went with just seemed like convoluted tripe rather than the genuinely disturbing, abstract and in the end, sense making original.
It may have looked prettier, (and I liked the elongated mouth death effect rendering) but if anything remains consistant these dark days, its that prettiness is a big win of content for most.
Verbinski totally Bayed that movie. It's sequel was just an extension of the shit spewed forth by the 1st movieski.
He has therefore joined Speilbayski corp.
queeq
Maybe I am biased seeing the US version first. But I was entertained, creeped out and loved its look. To me the Japanese version felt a tad... well, clean, basic. I dunno... A good movie, no doubts there (although I personally did feel the sequels were getting less good as they progressed).
Sadako of Girth
Shiny hi def cgi isn't scary.
Basic is good.
Yeah Ring 0 was a real extra dimension to the whole story.
queeq
Ah well, that's what happens when you suck the life out of a franchise.
Sadako of Girth
Verbinski is great at that.
queeq
You're gonna kill me for this: I liked PotC... *runs*
Sadako of Girth
But dead men cant run..

queeq
I'm not dead. Not yet.
Sadako of Girth
You are actually. This is the afterlife.
Hah. That was a twist you didnt see coming I bet.

queeq
Afterlife sucks then.
Sadako of Girth
Yep.
Mind you: Those 72 virgins weren't bad....

queeq
72 women nagging... You're sure this is heaven?
Sadako of Girth
144 including the mothers-in-law.
Sadako of Girth
*Runs also with 72 handbags being thrown in hot pursuit*
queeq
You're not gonna live...
Sadako of Girth
...but then again.....who does.......?
Sadako of Girth
Thought you'd appreciate the reference...

Sadako of Girth
He say you braderunner!!
queeq
Tell him I'm eating.
Sadako of Girth
If only you could have seen what Ive seen through your eyes.
queeq
Hmmmm, let me make a few wild suggestions here: Attack ships off shoulder of Orion? C-beams glitter in the dark near Tannhauser Gate?
Sadako of Girth
Maybe......

queeq
What else could it be?
Sadako of Girth
Pris' and Zhura's ass and tittays.
Kazenji
Huh ??.....what is this?
Kazenji
This is it for.........Death Star 3?
Kazenji
So "This is it" for what?
Sadako of Girth
