Captain REX
===

The tavern is allegedly closed, but familiar figures still frequent the bar. They aren't friends of the owner, not even close, but they have a standing agreement. Keep the tavern free of idiots and violence and they get free drinks until the time doesn't matter. Tonight is one of those nights. Curfew has been imposed in light of current events, and it seems to be raining heavier than usual.

But tonight, the routine is shattered. Tonight, someone decides to knock on the door when the tavern is closed. There is even a 'Closed - Leave or Die!' sign very clearly nailed to the door. Whoever is knocking, therefore, must have a very good reason for knocking or is an idiot.

Tarvis groans and puts out his cigar before abdicating his seat at the bar with the rest of you. Striding across the floor with notable agitation, he reaches out and quickly unbolts the wooden door before letting it swing open.

"Hey, can't you read?" he asks, gesturing to the 'Closed - Leave or Die!' sign. With a flick of his wrist, two foot-long glimmering knives extend from his knuckles. "We're closed. Piss off."

The cloaked figure ignores his blatant threats, stepping through the threshold without paying Tarvis any mind.

"Do you have a death wish? I said we're..."

This time, the cloaked figure acknowledges Tarvis. Silently, the figure raises a gnarled hand and clenches it very firmly into a fist. Before Tarvis can say more, he is gasping for breath, his other hand going to his throat.

"Does anyone else object to my presence?" the figure asks. His voice is deep and bored, but there is an unmistakeable underlying malignance in his words.

The response is an overwhelming "Objection!" without words. In a matter of seconds, every figure at the bar has slid off their stool and drawn a surprisingly wide and colorful variety of weapons, most of them completely illegal. All sights are set on the cloaked figure and the weapons set to kill.

The figure lowers his hand. Tarvis gasps for air as the figure releases the invisible grip at his throat. No longer preoccupied with subduing the man who threatened him, the cloaked figure reaches up and lowers his hood. Despite the elderly appearance of the lines in his face and the frosted shade of his hair, his eyes smoulder with an inner hatred as he glares across all those leveling their weapons toward him.

"I am Count Dooku. I come with a proposition for you all."

Captain REX
INTRODUCTION

Hired out by the sizeable paychecks coming from Count Dooku, leader of the Separatist movements against the Galactic Republic in the years leading up the epic and destructive Clone Wars that paved the way for the Galactic Empire to be instated, players find themselves as characters who have been living on the wrong side of the law for most of their lives. Out of the need to survive, out of the need for money, or out of pure bloodlust, each character is a formidable combatant.

===

TEMPLATES

The Bounty Hunter - An up-and-coming legend amongst hunters, this character is accustomed to violence as a means of increasing their personal wealth. Simply enough, they hunt bounties, but in doing so they have become well-rounded and well-equipped killers with class.

The Mercenary - Renting out his services in destruction, this character is a straight combat specialist, always in high demand at any point in time. More rough n' tumble from a life of heavy soldiering, he always gets the job done so long as it pays well.

The Slaver - Despite the illegitemacy of his activities, this character is always seeking a new source to obtain sentient livestock from. But life in an illegal occupation has given him the wits he needs to outsmart his opponents.

The Pirate - Hijacking in the space lanes, this character is a professional pilot that his turned his impressive skill into a means of gaining profit. Most comfortable behind the controls of a starship, they still manage to pack a punch when it comes to anything else.

The Assassin - Essentially a privately contracted killer, this character hunts targets like the bounty hunter but prefers to keep at a distance and handling things through stealth and traps.

The Primitive Warrior - Given advantages by their species, this character specializes in close combat domination. Obviously alien and possibly savage, they cannot be understood very clearly with words, but they get the point across with their fists and weapons.

The Saboteur - More or less a secret agent, this character has retired from service to government officials and now performs as an operative for whomever writes the biggest paychecks.

The Corrupted - With a wallet fattened by bribes and a political career marked with corruption and greed, this character is normally behind the scenes but is totally capable of getting in on the action. Though always pursuing greater wealth, they are already immensely wealthy.

I would appreciate if everyone would please state which template they would like, just for clarity and so I can begin helping those that need the help once things get under way.

Jovan
If you let me join in, I definitly need some help ... like... Bounty Hunters are the all-round templetes? So, anyone who is new should pick this out to make it "easier"?

Lord Melkor
Bounty Hunter is well-rounded, yes.

I will take a Mercenary.

Jazzman_78
I'm leaning toward assassin. Can I go ahead and get started with Ush's Assassin template, or should I wait for any 'tweaks' you might be making? Also, the Corrupted has potential, but I'd like to know more about it. What kind of template will it have; which of Ush's is it based off of?

Captain REX
I don't believe the Assassin will be getting any tweaks, but hold on posting it here for a bit.

The Corrupted is based off of the Idealistic Noble. I'm not sure if I want more than one to be played, and Lana convinced me to make the template in the first place.

Lt. Valerian
Alright. Firstly, I wanted to be an assassin, but after giving it some thought, I will choose to be a Bounty Hunter.

Actually, if you're new to this, I'd recommend a Mercenary. It's a pretty simple, straightforward character, probably one of the easiest to play.

Jazzman_78
Ok, so assassin it is! I'm gonna go ahead and get started working on him, but yeah, I'll wait to post until you're ready. This should be a pretty intersting game, an non-jedi take on the Darkie PT games. I've never really played the bad guy before. (And I mean that literally: even as a kid, my brother played most of the Cobras and Decepticons, while I handled mostly the autobots and Joes) So that will be interesting as well, at least from my perspective.

Newjak
I'd possibly like to be a Saboteur, maybe a Pirate.

Jazzman_78
Ok, I'm struggling with getting a 'flavor' for an assassin. Would it be a pain to go with Bounty hunter instead? I don't want to overload or off balance the game by having too many, let me know if you prefer that I stick with assassin or take another template.

Lt. Valerian
Well, for Bounty Hunters, it's just you and me now.

Trickster
If it's okay for me to join too, Rex, I'd like to take a Slaver or, maybe, a Primitive Warrior.

Craft
Hey, I'm interested in joining this RP, if there's any space free that is. If so sign me up for a Pirate please.

Captain REX
All players are welcome, so welcome aboard Trick. And there is plenty of room, Craft.

I have no problem with having multiple templates, such as the three people who have expressed interest in playing Bounty Hunters. Out of character, it will be interesting to see each player's take on the template and their character... unless we get three Boba Fetts, and then I might say something. In character and in game, I fully expect competetive attitudes and showing off.

Lt. Valerian
Then I'll have to work hard on my character's profile. smile

Tptmanno1
Hmm, I might go as a bad-ass Merc...

Captain REX
I would expect that anyway, Val! stick out tongue

In any case, as Jazz stated, this is somewhat of a Darkie game. For those of you that don't know what that means, there is a team of Dark Jedi currently trying to survive life on the edge in Ushgarak's RPGs. The group is all blood-thirsty, violent, power-hungry, and they all bicker with each other regularly.

Here, it's going to be very similar, but replace power with greed and introduce competition for status as men and women of your (murderous) trades.

Peach
GK called Bounty Hunter as soon as the original preview for this was posted.

Anyway, Corrupted = me.

Captain REX
Hunters now come in variety packs, apparently.

darkxbox
lol

i'm contemplating if i want to be assasin or saboteur

maybe both big grin if thats allright no expression

Newjak
After looking at it since I can not be the Corrupted template then I will go with the Saboteur.

Captain REX
Okay, so we've got:

Bounty Hunters - Jovan, Valerian, Jazz, GK (4)

Mercenaries - Stefan, Melkor (2)

Slaver - (0)

Pirate - Craft (1)

Assassin - (0)

Saboteur - Jamie (1)

Corrupted - Lana (1)

UNDECIDED - Trick, Darkxbox

I'll get the template sheets up soon, preferably after Trick and Dark have decided on their templates.

Trickster
Did you ditch the Primitive Warrior template, then?

I'll take Slaver (more interesting that being an alien bug, anyway).

darkxbox
i am an assasin ninja

darkxbox
Okay, so we've got:

Bounty Hunters - Jovan, Valerian, Jazz, GK (4)

Mercenaries - Stefan, Melkor (2)

Slaver - Trickster (1)

Pirate - Craft (1)

Assassin - Darkxbox (1)

Saboteur - Jamie (1)

Corrupted - Lana (1)

Lt. Valerian
Just have to wait for REX, then.

General Kaliero
Oh dear, with so many Bounty Hunters I'll have to be really interesting and different to make myself unique... I don't know if I can do that. wink

Jazzman_78
Eh, if Rex or others would like a more even spread, I can go back to assassin. I actually have on hunter and one assassin made out, pending any template changes and extra devices Rex puts out. I'm flexible, if there's a need.

Captain REX
Oops, no I did not, Trick, just forgot to list it there. Fluke on my part.

Templates may not be up until tomorrow. I will be busy for the next week or so, but I will be sure to get those up for you.

Jovan
so... I take it I'm accepted then? Considering I'm in the list and all

as soon as the templates are up, I definitly need help!

Lt. Valerian
Have you made a final decision as to what will you choose to be?

Tptmanno1
I have my character created already...
But I'm wary of posting it here, and scaring off the new players...
Its really easy to do! I swear!

Captain REX
Jovan expressed the most interest in Bounty Hunter, and frankly, that is the best template for a beginner. Mercenaries are good at fighting, but little else.

It's far easier than it looks. Numbers scare people, I've learned.

Newjak
I pretty much got the idea of what I'm going to do but not the final numbers yet.

Lt. Valerian
Yes, I already have my character created. Maybe just add a little but more things and I'll post it.

Craft
Huzzah for being accepted! I've got most of my character done, I think, just a little stuck on the merits thing and a name, curse the names.

Mercenary

I only take orders from one person. ME!

Mercenary is another simple career in the Galaxy, which again only a few people get any good at. Thise who are very good at it are in heavy demand in any time period.

The Mercenary is a combat specialist, lacking the refinement of the Bounty Hunter, but concentrating purely on the fighting.

BOUNTY HUNTER

He's no good to me dead.

Bounty Hunters are a centerpiece in the Star Wars galaxy, the ever-threatening reach of the criminal underworld. Anyone can choose to take up the hunt for bounties, but very few ever become very good at it. It is a dangerous occupation, tracking down criminals who could possibly be just as deadly as yourself... but this Bounty Hunter has lived long enough to become near-legendary. They keep on the hunt, purchasing better equipment to use against their targets until all they know is the hunt.

Bounty Hunters, being the most well-traveled and highly experienced on the Scum & Villainy list, are well-rounded in their skills. While being lethal fighters in any situation, they can be quite knowledgeable and social when the need arises.

MERCENARY

I only take orders from one person. ME!

As long as warfare and violence exist, Mercenaries will always be in high-demand at any point in time. A simple occupation, Mercenaries are essentially paid soldiers who have proven themselves to be lethal on the battlefield. They are notorious for having short lifespans, but some, like this one, manage to survive long enough to gain a reputation.

Mercenaries are the combat specialists of the Scum & Villainy list, concentrating purely on fighting with little variation and lacking finesse.

SLAVER

My kind of scum; fearless and inventive.

Despite the illegality of the trading and selling of sentient beings, Slavers become greatly influential and wealthy. Through corruption they have been able to maintain their trade, paying off those politicians that might cut them off and snuffing the competition, which is intense at this point in time. They can be private operators or they can be small-time crimelords, but either way they run a treacherous business and have to be just as treacherous themselves.

Slavers are intended to be the brains of the Scum & Villainy list. They are more than willing to join a fight, but they are better suited for outsmarting their foes than directly fighting them. To make up for their diminished fighting ability, they are always accompanied by two lackeys to back them up.

PIRATE

I have the death sentence on twelve systems!

Pirates also operate another completely illegal business within the Galaxy, raiding planets, orbiting depots, and starships for supplies and wares to sell off. Nomads in space, Pirates have to develop a knack for survival with everyone opposing piracy so fiercely, or they need to accumulate a great deal of favors to continue operating.

Pirates are the flight specialists of the Scum & Villainy list. They are entirely able to fight on the ground, but they feel much more comfortable behind the controls of a starfighter. They also have strong ties to their pirate clans.

ASSASSIN

It was just a job...

Unlike Bounty Hunters, Assassins are privately contracted killers assigned to take out targets, dead only. Cold and calculating, they prefer to work out ways for their targets to trigger traps or blast their victims from a distance, rather than coming into close contact with anyone at all. He loses his precise edge when forced into close combat, which only happens when things have gone awry.

Assassins are also combat specialists, though narrowing its focus to ranged weaponry. They have greater precision than Mercenaries, but lose the all-around capability of the Mercenaries and Bounty Hunters.

SABOTEUR

It's not my fault!

Unlike most occupations on the Scum & Villainy list, the Saboteur is far more secretive and specializes in a different field: technology. Essentially a secret agent, Saboteurs are contracted to, obviously, sabotage. They utilize extreme stealth and handiness with a hydrospanner to get the job done without alerting anyone to their presence, and anyone that they do tip off quickly learns that they prefer silent take-downs.

While Saboteurs preferably stick to their mandate of stealth as skilled technical operatives, they are definitely able to engage in a fight. But, as part of their occupations, they are incredibly unsocial.

PRIMITIVE WARRIOR

Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrggggh!

There are countless numbers of obscure cultures in the Star Wars universe, some seemingly primitive and outdated in comparison with the high-tech nature of the rest of the Galaxy. But most are by choice or circumstance, rather than by savagery.

In some cases, however, this is completely untrue. Some cultures simply are as savage as they appear, and Primitive Warriors are evidence of this. Brutish and violent, Warriors have honed their ability to fight, becoming lethal in close quarters combat. Enemies of Warriors have much to fear from these alien beasts.

Needless to say, they don't get along well with others most of the time. They are combat specialists, but, like Assassins, they have narrowed their capabilities down to a specific method of combat, in this case close combat. Of all the templates, only the Primitive Warrior can use Alien Tricks.

CORRUPTED

He's a political idealist, not a murderer...

In the heated political atmosphere of the Galaxy, it is not at all uncommon for politicians to have become corrupt, setting aside their efforts for humanity and justice in favor of greed and the benefits of their high position in the political system. Corrupted take advantage of their vast wealth and great influence to advance themselves and their interests, both in the Senate and in the criminal underworld. Anything to increase their wealth and gain further influence.

The Corrupted is overtly sociable and is more of a manipulator than a fighter, but has trained itself for defensive purposes due to the corrupt nature of its dealings and the dangerousness of its position. It is not unstylish for the Corrupted to take on a bodyguard.

Lt. Valerian
OKay... I think I may need to add a bit more to my profile than I first thought I would. Nothing I can't handle, though. 131

I'll try to finish my profile as soon as possible.

Captain REX
It does not need to be so detailed as Stefan's, but detail is always appreciated, as is originality.

Jovan
I already got some questions...

so you have mental and physical and you have this preset of points to it and now you can freely add 7 points to it. I get that but what is dexterity and what is the most useful? I also do not get how you can work with intelligence and such... if you are really stupid in the game, you can not even think to turn the key to unlock the door? How can you keep a check on it exactly?

Does Fortune mean how much money you have or does it mean how fortunate you are? Like something like the Force but than for bounty hunters?

Peach
The individual skills each work with an individual stat. For example, Pilot and Guns go off of Dexterity. Combat goes off of Agility, and Strength sets how much damage you can do with a physical attack.

Stuff like Persuade and Lying go with Charisma, Languages goes with Intelligence, Observation with Perception...Speed sets how quickly you get to act in a fight and Willpower isn't generally used a whole lot but is still there.

How you do checks - very simple. You say what you want to do and a roll is made off of that skill with a basic d20. If you beat whatever the total needed is, you've succeeded. If you don't, you fail. Sometimes the amount you pass or fail by is relevant. So having a high skill isn't a guarantee that you will automatically do well, but it does make it much more likely that you will pass the relevant rolls.

And Fortune is pretty much how lucky you are. You can use Fortune points to redo rolls, add onto your roll, make a random event (like a rock falling) not hit you, etc.

Go take a look at the Core Rules thread at the top of the forum stick out tongue It explains everything well.

Captain REX
To help (hopefully), here is the full list of skills and what they do.

SKILLS

All skills are based on a stat. To get your final level in that skill, add the stat and the '+' number relevant to the skill. So someone with a Combat skill of +4 would check his Agility, which Combat is based on. If his Agility is 7, his combat would therefore be 7+4 to make 11.

You may add points to your given skills, or in some cases any skills, as noted on the template (if you do not add to a +0, simply ignore it). Unless stated, the maximum for the final total of the skill (not the + number, the final total with the stat included) is 12.

If a skill has a '=' sign by it- normally for fighting skills, and always for Lightsabre- then it will always equal that final amount, including the stat, no matter what. So if a Guns skill is =13, then it final + number will equal whatever is needed to get it to 13. Guns is based on Dexterity, so if your Dexterity was 7, the + number would become 6 to make 13; if your Dexterity was 8, the + number would be 5. Nothing will change this final amount so don't spend points on an = skill (after all, they are set at a high level for you as it is!)

Here is a summary of skills:

Combat (Agility): The ability to fight up close unarmed or with a melee weapon.

Fix-it (Perception): Technical knack and know-how, always an important skill in Star Wars for little emergency jury-rigs on the job.

Gambling (Perception): The ability to either play well in skill-based, or judge well in luck based, gambling games. Gambling is a useful social skill.

Guns (Dexterity): The ability to fight, preferablty at a distance, with the wide variety of handheld arms in the Star Wars galaxy, from small pistols to longarms.

Heavy Weapons (Dexterity): The ability to operate very large weapons, including rocket launchers and the like.

Intimidation (Charisma): The ability to compel others, either by threats or general scary presence, to do what you want.

Intrusion (Agility): The ability to break and enter.

Jedi Lore (Intelligence): Knowledge of the mysteries of the Force, and the secrets of the Jedi and the Sith.

Languages (Intelligence): Your general knowledge of other languages. Whilst most aliens speak basic, it is often highly useful to understand others in their native tongue.

Law (Intelligence): Not the knowing of what is and is not illegal, but law as a lawyer or politician would see it- understanding the legal system, how to use it, abuse it, speed it or slow it. This is an obscure and difficult skill and cannot be taken unless it is on on your template.

Leadership (Charisma): The ability to get others to follow your lead by example and direction.

Lying (Charisma): The ability to fool and deceive others. Both sides have equal need for this skill.

Medicine (Intelligence): The ability to treat basic wounds and other medical problems, and identify the cause of wounds.

Observation (Perception): The ability to notice things- not just physical things, but also to notice things about the manner of a person, for example.

Persuade (Charisma): The ability to get people to help you via means of reasoned argument.

Pilot (Dexterity): The ability to fly ships and drive vehicles. Pilot is used as a combat skill in some circumstances.

Sabotage (Dexterity): The generic ability to wreck stuff- from viruses to electro-disruption to big bombs.

Savoir-Faire (Charisma): Cultural knowledge of the Galaxy- essential for travellers like yourselves, this helps you blend in to and understand the myriad planets and cultures you will encounter over time.

Seduction (Charisma): The ability to bring others under your thumb via means of personal attraction.

Warfare (Intelligence): The ability to organize fighting as a General sees it- where you need Leadership to lead squads, you need Warfare to lead armies.

Ineia Velia

Corrupted

An aide to the Senator of the Darpa Sector (and occasional representative) and hailing from Rhinnal, Ineia entered politics naive and hopeful that she would be able to enact change. As ever, her illusions of how government worked were quickly shattered, and she learned that there are two main ways to advance yourself in galactic politics - force, and bribes. Through a combination of shrewd political skills and a sense of where the best places to place a few credits are, she became a Senatorial aide for her home sector, and also occasionally acts as a representative. Ineia has more than enough power and wealth from her position, but it is not enough for her. That desire, combined with an offer that would benefit her greatly if she were to sway the Senator and planetary leaders into seceding from the Republic, has caused Ineia to live a sort of double life - one where she is the perfect picture of a government official, loyal to the Republic, and one where she drops seeds of dissension and has no qualms in associating with criminals.

Name: Riin Karalla
Species: Talortai
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 173 lbs.

BOUNTY HUNTER

Riin Karalla lived a Hunter's life for as long as he could remember, ever since a young age on Gall, a terrestrial moon of Zhar. Thanks to his species' apparent immunity to the effects of aging, Riin had quite a long run to hone his trade and make an impressive name for himself in the process. Hundreds of years later (at the least; even he isn't sure anymore) Riin is a deadly and efficient bounty hunter. However, as a result of so much time on top, he simply doesn't care. He's lost all of the "bite", becoming a rather charismatic and likable guy. He likes to talk and tell stories, though it can be hard to tell which of those stories are true. At this point, he's still a bounty hunter mostly because he's always been, and has no reason to change.

Saboteur
Not much is known about "Lance". Many of his associates doubt that is even his real name. He just showed up one day asking for a job. His past is a mystery to anyone and everyone.

He has been around for little while and during that time some things have become known. One is that he at some time or another has had to have received government training somewhere. He is also very sociable and down right smart when it comes to fixing and breaking things. That he possess very good knowledge across the galaxy on many traditions and languages associating him with a lot of travel.

He is in his late twenties, and he is very clam and relaxed. He has a sort of no worries attitude. He wears baggy dark brown pants that come with many pockets and pouches. He wears a light brown long sleeve shirt. Over that he has a dark brown vest that is very thick also with many pouches. The overall look is one of an ex soldier. His air is black and spiked. He has a slim very fine trimmed goatee.

In the end though everyone wants him to be on their side because he does have a dark side that is thinly vieled just beneath the surface. One that has made him an amaziong survivor in any situtation.

You know what I'm actually pretty proud of the character I just made.

Jazzman_78
Het Gevaar, Hounty Hunter

Excerpt from a Coruscanti Times interview by journalist Ara Lynn -

AL: What made you become a professional Bounty Hunter?

Het: Nothing made me choose it. I’m not one of those orphaned in childhood / got into desperate times / fell in with the wrong crowd sob stories. I saw an opportunity as a young man for an enjoyable, well-paying job. I tried it out and found that I was pretty good at it. No different than any other hard-working being.

AL: You do have a pretty impressive success record for collecting your bounties. It’s interesting, though, that there have been very few live captures in your career.

Het: (Laughs) That’s because it’s easier that way. For all concerned. Most of the beings I go after are bound for life terms or death sentences anyway. They don’t have to wait for their fate, the ‘system’ doesn’t have to spend more time and credits, and I don’t have to deal with the hassle of live prisoners. I only ‘bring ‘em back alive’ if the bounty requires it.

AL: Oh. I see. Moving along then. Looking at you, you don’t present yourself like a typical bounty hunter. It that long black coat all you need? Where are all your weapons and traps?

Het: Like I told you, I’m not one of those bounty hunters. I prefer to keep a low profile. For one thing, it’s a lot easier to shadow a target when you don’t look like a walking armory. In most cases, I can sit beside a mark at a bar, or on a transport. I’ve bought several a couple drinks, or listened to them go on and on about the wife and kids back home. I even had two or three tell me they were wanted beings. (Shaking his head.) Half the time, they never see it coming.

AL: So what are your ‘tools of the trade’, so to speak?

Het: I’d rather not go into detail on that. Bad for business, if you know what I mean. Suffice it to say I’m able to handle myself at a distance and up close. Plus, (he raps his chest with his knuckles) I’m pretty resilient. (editorial note: His knuckles make an oddly dull sound when they contact his shirt. Could there be more than meets the eye with this bounty hunter?)

Fearsome Reputation: The Bounty Hunter gets +3 on all interrogation rolls, and +5 on any social roll at all with criminals.

And just because I rock, at least a little bit:

1. Size- Light Fighter, Fighter, Small Trader, Large trader (where large trader is Mellenium Falcon size, and is the class below Freighter which is the big bulk stuff)

2. Bonus attribute- Merit ships are a cut above the rest. Choose if you want a bonus of Thrust, Manoeuvrability, Armour, Turrets or Payload.

SHIPS

Ships have the following stats:

Thrust: A general measure of speed

Performance: A general measure of handling

Payload: A ship's ability to destroy large targets (e.g. with torpedoes)

Armour: In two ratings, one for Pilots and one for Aces.

Turrets: Relevant for freighters and the like

Special: Any special rules

In starship situations, Named Characters are called Aces, and Mooks are called Pilots.

--

STARFIGHTS

Starfights are when you are trying to blow the crap out of each other.

Each turn, an Ace must declare which of the following actions he is taking:

DOGFIGHT- Attack a random target on the enemy side. Dogfighting never targets Aces unless there are more Aces than Pilots- all these Pilots just get in the way!

HUNT- Attack a specific target. This makes yourself easier to hit, and it also means you lose your immunity to Dogfights. If two pilots Hunt each other, it becomes a Duel... which we shall deal with if it comes.

EVADE- Get the hell out of the way. You cna change to an Evade once all other actions have been declared, but it is not as good this way.

BOMB RUN- Make an attack on a large ship. This involves patience, nerve and targetting. Bomb Runs make you easier to bit and also make you lose your immunity to Dogfights

ESCORT- Cover any ship you choose. You get to attack any ship that attacks your charge. Escorting does not make you easier to hit, but it does remove your immunity to Dogfights.

Pilots always Dogfight by default unless inappropriate (e.g. Bomb Runs). A person in authority can get the attention of a few pilots in his local area to force them to take another action.

ESCAPE- Get out of Dodge! Can leads to c chase.

All actions in Starship combat take the same amount of time, so Initaitve really just gives people the drop.

All Combat rolls are made on Pilot. Your stats give you bonuses in various areas- for example, Thrust is very handy for Escapes. Don';t forget your Pilot Schticks!

If a Pilot is hit, he is destroyed if the Outcome is twice his armour rating or more. If the Outcome is less than that, the Pilot's armour rating is reduced by one.

If an Ace is hit, his armour rating is reduced by the Outcome. The ship is going down at zero.

----

CHASES

These are different.

In Chases, we are only interesed in one value- Pep. Pep is equal to the combination of your Thrust and Performance. The person ahead in the Chase gets a bonus to his starting Pep according to how far he is ahead!

Each turn you can try and do two things:

1. Gain Pep. Do this by putitng the foot down, taking short cuts, re-routing power... whatever...

2. Cause enemy to lose pep. Do this by performing insane stunts through asteroids, or twisty manoeuvres to confound a foe. Or, if your Pep scores are close and you are appropriately equipped, shooting at him!

Anyone chasing reduced to zero pep has been lost and is out the chase.

If the person being chased goes down to zero pep, he can flee no longer and it becomes a fight.

Ivan was born in Damargan. As an orphan that had to survive at the streets, he had to survive at the turbulent times civil war. Due to his talents, particularly skills at dealing with people, he managed to thrive in the underworld, until he was brought into the Golden Serpent cell. Ivan was delighted at the opportunity to become a part of such notorious syndicate, finally having an opportunity to acquire wealth and position of importance beyond a simple thug. Ivan represented the Serpent in their slaving operations, acquiring the stock from contacts such as Pirates or ruthless Warlords. As such deals tend to be quite risky, Ivan had to learn how to escape and fight for his life, as has seen quite much of the galaxy and its inhabitants. He never had a real surname, with the exception of adopted disquises

Ivan is quite handsome looking fox-faced man in his mid-twenties, with dark-blonde hair and green eyes. He enjoys fancy clothes and usually adopts a friendly and amicable image, his lips usually twisted in a smile or grin. He is a hedonist that enjoys all kinds of pleasures- particularly alcohol and woman, but is quite discipined when business demands it. Those that know him well consider him ruthless individual without real friends, with the possible exception of his favourite business partner twi`lek Alanya, for whom he seems to have a certain weakeness. Ivan can be quite a scary man, capable of conveying threats behind calm demenour and wicked grins.

The general idea is that you are all, for some reason or other, operating out of a tavern on a backwater world that is pereptually muddy and depressing. With the exception of Ineia, of course. Whether or not you are all friends, you at least know each other.

I fully expect hate and loathing. Dooku will expect cooperation, but I expect you to make your characters as unappealing to one another as possible, for whatever reason.

Jazzman_78
Don't fret. You'll get lots of friendly help. I had to edit my first one a few times. Just take it step by step, just as Ush lays it out. Check your match and keep notes on how you apply skill points, in other words, 'show your math'. The hardest part really is the name. The second is the background, at least for me. Although I do have a trick for getting names. Use a free translator on the web. IIt still takes some creativity and playing around. I'm not sure whether it's lame or clever, but I think it worked for Het Gevaar (Norwegian for Dangerous)

Captain REX
Valerian, if you have any questions, shoot them my way or post them in here. yes

Lt. Valerian
For now, I don't have any questions, REX, but thanks for saying. smile

Later, however, when I get deeper into the creation I may have. If so, I'll post whatever it is here. smile

How many weapons is my character able to carry? Or are they included in 'Devices'?

KK, thanks again, REX.

Well, finally:

Name- Raldon Callster
Height- 6’2
Weight- 175 lbs.
Birth Planet- Roon, Port of Nime (Roon System)
Age- 34
Species- Human, Male
Weapons- Westar-M5 blaster rifle, PLX-1 portable missile launcher, and Vibroknucklers

Biography- Born in the isolated world of Roon in the Outer Rim territories of the galaxy, Raldon was raised into an independent, self-reliant human by his warrior-figure of a father, who was the proud, personal guard of the governor. He was a very strict, close-minded individual, and had never allowed Raldon to have friends, or to have some other sort of distraction from his main focus in life: training to one day honor the place of his father.
But after sixteen years of harsh training, Raldon came to despise weakness, and eventually realized he would never be challenged, he would never be able to truly test his skills, and therefore, his life would turn out to be an absolute waste. Angered by this thought, he started to see the planet he lived in as a place where only the worthless dwelled. Frustrated with his life, and knowing he would never have the slightest opportunity of leaving the ever-boring, unchallenging world he so much despised, he finally realized there was, ultimately, only one real solution: the death of his father. Without a tiny hint of hesitation, he did what he had to.
After the seemingly natural ‘death’ of his father, Raldon secretly stole everything of value belonging to his wealthy father and took the first shuttle out of the system. He then sought out the life of a Bounty Hunter, realizing this would sharpen both: his mind and physical skills, and finally be able to test himself to the galaxy. He has now been doing (and loving) hunting prey for the last eighteen years, and has become well-known around the galaxy.

(I hope that was fine smile )

For Combination Device, you have to buy the two Devices you want to stick together separately. It just makes it so that they only take up one spot.

With your devices you have already, you could use it to do something like combine your armor and claws, or the tangle gun and the custom gun...that sort of thing.

Lt. Valerian
Alright then I'll change that smile

Peach
No, that's still wrong.

Using Combination Device actually uses up three points in total - the two used to get the two Devices originally, and then the one to combine them. It doesn't just let you pick out two for free.

Right. I'm Sorry sad I'll change it again.

I'm actually not sure what benefit the combination of your Armor and your Claws will have, Valerian. The Combination device usually is meant for devices that compliment each other, such as the Custom Gun and the Tangle Gun, or the Jet Pack and the Mortar Backpack.

Also, the Bryar Pistol would simply be a heavy pistol. Custom Guns are usually big guns of ridiculous and intimidating proportions, rifles and cannons and whatnot.

They're in this thread, and you cannot add to your Merits, Gun Tricks, or Devices. The number listed is what you get, period.

Also the numbers in general seem a bit off, and it's generally a good idea to list the template name that you are using.

heh, I did the same thing on my first character, Andro. I thought I had a true badass right out of the gate. Not that he's a lightweight anyhow.
I just had a thought. Thenewbies might find it useful to browse through the older character creation threads. Seems most people make the same few mistakes.

Erm, may not be a good idea. Most of those are Jedi, and that's quite a bit different.

The old OT thread, though, that might be a good idea. Newbies, an explanation of assigning stats and skills is here, and the character creation starts here. You'll see some common mistakes pointed out there.

Hope that's helpful, guys. The vets want fresh meat to tear into. wink

Still got an extra point in there, Valerian.

Hi-Tech Armor = 1
Jetpack = 1
Combination Device (1) - Tangle Gun (1) & Custom Gun: Disruptor Rifle (1) = 3
Mini-Charges = 1
Claws = 1

Altogether, 7 points. Drop one device and you should be good to go.

If you want my advice, drop the Claws and keep your Combat tricks to Unarmed styles. You seem more suited to attacking from afar anyway, with the Disruptor Rifle and Jetpack.

Lt. Valerian
I thought the Combination Device didn't count as one. That's just too much of a waste... You're right. Now that I gave it a thought, I don't REALLY need the Claws, I've looked over again the 'Devices' on the Rules thread, and the Survival Belt can come in handy. I've decided to take off the CD and add that one. Alright, THIS is my final one:

Hi-Tech Armour
Jetpack
Tangle Gun
Custom Gun: Disruptor Rifle
Survival Belt
Mini-Charges

And since I won't have any main melee weapons to wield now, I'll change the 'Twin Attack' to 'Trip'.

Thanks for the advice, btw. smile
Now, is THAT ok?? laughing out loud

tis was the template i was using.

FORTUNE 3

Add seven points to either physical or mental. Then add seven points among all other stats. Fortune may not exceed 5. ((what?))

Combat +3
Heavy Weapons +4
Languages +1
Pilot +2 (max 11)
Intrusion +5
Lying +3
Fix-it +3
Savoir-Faire +2

Sabotage: +2

Add six points among these skills. ((what does this mean?))

Peach
Okay, a couple things.

You did the first part right, in picking between Mental and Physical to spend 7 points. The rest is off, though.

Next part:

That means you can add a total of 7 points to anything listed under Physical, Mental, and also Fortune. These are your stats. Fortune can't go over 5, and the others can't go over 8. You already put 2 points on Fortune (which maxes it out), so then you have 5 points to spread among the rest. I'd suggest working on the Physical stats a bit.

Part three:

That list there, starting with Guns? Those are your skills. You've actually spent 7 points there, though, so one skill that you've added to, you need to remove one point. Then you're good with that.

Last: Devices and Merits.

Both are listed in the Core Rules thread. Devices are listed here, and Merits are listed here. Basically, Devices are cool individual shiny weapons and/or armor that you get, and Merits are background advantages your character gets. If you want a ship, or a mentor, or an ally, or a secret hideout, or to be exceptionally lucky, then you have to buy the corresponding Merit.

I'd say try reading through the Core Rules thread, as it explains everything.

Better late then never, here is Menuja's bio.

Born into the life of a pirate Menuja has never know any other way to live. Growing up he witnessed slavery, blackmail, violence and many other things frowned upon by Republic, but it never concerned him, he never knew better. Though he looked physically weak it soon became common knowledge that he could hold his own in a fight but was also an utter nightmare to fly against. Feeling at most at home in space he honed his skills and soon became one of Kylugo Srum’s top fliers, almost always being the first to race in for the kill. As a reward for several successful raids he received the droid C4-T5, who remains a constant companion to this day. In his early twenties Menjua is already on first name basis with the crime lord Queln the Hutt after single handedly hunting down and bringing back a rouge smuggler who had jumped ship and lost a large portion of Queln’s spice shipment.
When behind the controls of a ship Menuja is cold, ruthless and aggressive diving head first into any conflict with little, if any, thought on the consequences. On the ground however he’s more cautious and paranoid with a constant feeling of vulnerability.

Lt. Valerian
