Lol I wonder if they are /b/tards
Strangelove
It was a ton of fun to watch. They have such a great sense of humor.
BackFire
Awesome, awesome video. Cool song, too.
Victor Von Doom
Weezer always have good videos.
Checklist418
Can't wait to see what they do next
Wittig
"Pork and beans" or "buddy holly" music video. I think i like the buddy holly vid better. but pork and beans is really good.

Loser.
Bardock42
'tis alright. Like the song more than the video.
manorastroman
what the hell is the matter with the lot of you? south park already did this, only better. and the song is ****ing awful.
weezer is dead to me.
Alpha Centauri
South Park didn't "do" that. They made an episode that featured internet stars.
This is a video featuring internet stars that actually have parts in the video for a reason, not because they wanted to get cheap laughs, Weezer are actually smarter than that.

Impediment
Weezer is an alright band, not one of my favorites, though.
This was the first time I heard this song. I like it.
Alpha Centauri
Weezer, more specifically Rivers Cuomo, will never get the credit he fully deserves.
Good, in a way.

**** that noise. rivers is playing his fans like fools. the last two weezer albums have been almost inconceivably awful. and yet his recently released solo tapes are mostly great. he's just using weezer to pay for his wife and child. he's not even trying anymore. compare: beverly hills to pink triangle. a) retarded awful successful pop song. b) insanely clever not so successful pop song.
coincidence? i think not.

Wow, you subscribed to the widely accepted and inevitably idiotic idea that Weezer have somehow declined in form. I applaud your cool and one day maybe I can be as cool. Maybe I can even add that element of "They're not making music I like, so I have to overcompensate by saying everything since has been utter shit.", maybe. Because obviously, that's so smart.
Weezer have done nothing but remain a consistently great rock band who possess one of the single most gifted songwriters in the entire world in Rivers Cuomo.
The people who agree that Weezer have gone downhill are matched in sheer foolish idiocy only by those who feel the same about Radiohead. As much as it annoys me to see such rabidly misinformed opinions accepted as fact because they are repeated enough, I am glad, because the thought of sharing tastes with people like you kind of makes me want to vomit. The delusional sense of entitlement you feel you have is the only retarded thing here.
So Weezer have stopped making music you like, whoopty doo. Cry one and get over it. You just sound bitter that Weezer have gone in a direction that has left you behind, not unlike the people who said the same about Kid A by Radiohead. That's your problem, not mine, not Weezer's. They make music they enjoy, like any band should, and it will either appeal to people or it won't. I've never been disappointed with Weezer, you obviously have. Stop assuming this is factually down to something being wrong with Weezer or their fans and just accept the fact that you dislike the music they're currently making.
-AC
Impediment
Okay. I admit it. I love this song. I can't stop listening to it.
manorastroman
?????
what a terrible comparison. radiohead went in a totally different direction with kid a, whereas weezer just dumbed themselves down. actually, what does radiohead have to do with any of this? i'm a bit nonplussed.
"The delusional sense of entitlement you feel"
the ironing is delicious. that you presume to know the source of my opinion on weezer's latter day works is absurd. this has nothing to do with "coolness" (an argument you throw around a whole lot) and everything to do with the songwriting. fine; the songs are still catchy. that's true. but they're also a lot dumber. that ****ing song on "red" where he just names other songs he likes is an abomination.
what happened to songs about him creeping out on girls? now we've got songs about being famous and hash pipes.
and screw your "it will appeal to people or it won't" relativism. it's like freshman philosophy all over again.
"Stop assuming this is factually down to something being wrong with Weezer or their fans and just accept the fact that you dislike the music they're currently making."
as opposed to assuming that this is factually something wrong with myself, hundreds of critics, and thousands of (former) fans, rather than something with the music they're currently making?
i bet your favorite story growing up was "the emperor has no clothes".

The fact that I believe there is no sensible, nor reasonable argument as to why people believe either band has gone into a decline, and it's often just because people are too scared to go against opinion. I believe this is the case for you, as I will prove soon.

Dumber? How do you define dumb? So this all comes down to musical songs being "dumber" based on lyrics that you don't like? Because I fail to see how actual musical composition could be considered dumb. I can give you a big, big clue what IS dumb though. I'm reading and replying to it currently.
You just sound horribly bitter.
Furthermore, that's at odds with your argument that he's not trying. He has a Harvard degree, he's not a stupid man. So obviously he is making more of an effort to keep things as he wants them rather than subscribing to making what is perceived as "intelligent" music. Not to say this music is unintelligent. Brian Wilson wasn't exactly splitting atoms with Pet Sounds.

So the songs and songwriting are musically dumb because you dislike his choice of lyrical focal points? Congratulations, your opinion has almost reached the recycle bin of my mind. I dislike a lot of lyrics that happen to have been put to great songs. I don't dislike the songs, because that would be retarded.
There's nothing inherently wrong with the music just because you need the lyrics to be something you enjoy.
Furthermore, if you took Beverly Hills' lyrics to heart with any kind of seriousness, then Rivers has not only alienated you, but he's obviously outsmarted you, and so has everyone else who has seen that it was meant with a sense of tongue in cheek. You honestly think that because, in Pork and Beans, he sings about Timbaland teaching him to "perfect the art", that he honestly feels he can learn about songwriting from him? Get some sense, please.

Why? Does the fact that I am factually correct bother you? It will appeal to people...or it won't. There's no factually good or bad music, and it is really burning you up knowing that you cannot prove that. Rivers has, and hopefully will ALWAYS write music that pleases him and the band first, because that is what has yielded the most enjoyment for me and many others. The one time he tried collaborating with "fans" was when he realised they haven't got a f*cking clue what they're on about, and the song turned out shit.

A) I never made the point that you were wrong by fact on your choice to dislike whatever Weezer have done over their last few albums. Just that I think you're an idiot for it and your argument confirms such. Didn't say you, or the critics were "wrong".
B) Majority doesn't equal fact. If that's the case, then everyone (And it was in excess of thousands, in all probability) who ditched Radiohead after OK Computer, critics and fans alike, were definitely right. Were they? No, it was opinion.
Let's kill you off, though. Shall we?

You opened this reply by saying you don't dislike them because of coolness or numbers, nor popular opinion, right? Then why say this:

I just realised, your opinions are entirely at odds! You open your post saying how silly I am for saying you hold this opinion because the masses do, then you use the masses that share that opinion as a means to clarify your argument in the quote above. Jesus, if I wasn't so excellently perceptive, you might have had a shot in this debate.
Besides, the argument for majority opinion carrying more weight is stupid. The majority are against me when I argue against Britney Spears music, what does that tell you? Since when did the majority have any bearing over quality, really? Even critics hardly know what they hell they're on about nowadays. Just the other day the NME were praising...wait for it...Scarlett Johannson's album.

I love that song so much.
And I laughed so much at the video. It's one giant internet meme, it's brilliant.
Victor Von Doom
It works on levels that we can all enjoy.
manorastroman
lol.
since when do coolness and numbers equate? if anything, they're mutually exclusive.
also, i wasn't saying "i think i'm right because several people agree with me." i was simply pointing out the hypocrisy in this:
"Stop assuming this is factually down to something being wrong with Weezer or their fans and just accept the fact that you dislike the music they're currently making."
Alpha Centauri
Well to broaden what I said, the issue, factually, is yours.
YOU have a subjective issue with the way the songs are written, or even worse, the lyrics. It's not Weezer, there's nothing inherently good or bad about them now. You either like it or you don't.
If the fact that relative preference is a key here bothers you, I suggest just not debating the subject.
-AC
manorastroman
if relative preference is a key here, then there's nothing to debate, is there?
Alpha Centauri
Not beyond:
"I think this is abysmal.", "I think it's great.".
Then again, I wasn't the one saying you were wrong for disliking it. You continued to post saying "F*ck this noise.", as if we were wrong and needed to stop.

This album is sounding really good. I have no complaints. Its maybe less accessible than some of their albums but that doesnt make it bad

Pretty cool video.
