He did not "defeat" Gladiator, he merely "survived" against Gladiator for a short period ... which is still a decent feat.

Cannonball vs Gladiator hype is comparable to the shit that's been going on with Zom supposedly stalemating Eternity.

Sonics. Freon blasts (cannonball can convert kinetic energy such as punches, so ice would be a natural defense). He is more maneuverable than Cannonball (as shown on panel) and this was way before Extremis.
