I haven't seen it yet but i can't wait. I wanted to see it but it sold out till sunday night. so ill see it then.
It's gotten rave reviews it's been on the cover of the 2 main major newspapers here in Boston for the past week. Never seen that before for a movie. It was on the front cover of USA today today as well.
i think it may shatter ironman's sales record and in my opinion beat out spiderman sles record. I seen 12 mins of the bank robbery scene in a big screen in best buy and "wow" is all i can say. I think it's going to greatest comic book movie ever made.
What's your take.
SelinaAndBruce
Yes it is. Without a doubt.

How could you see 12 minutes of the bank robbery scene when the bank scene is only 6 minutes?
FistOfThe North
my mistake, i meant the Best Buy demo cd was 12 mins total.

with the back robbery scene in it.

I'd say yes, it definitely is the best comic book movie ever, except for the fact that i'm not sure i'd categorize it as such. I would call it a crime drama based on comic book characters or maybe even an adaptation of comic book characters. I don't know, I may be way off on that.
Darth Martin
By far yes. Iron Man was aweswome, Hancock was fun, but I just saw this on IMAX and I'm speechless. I'll post more when this high wears off.
S_D_J
I thought I'll never say this, but yes... it is the best "based on a comic book" movie.
though Sin City, and to an extent...300, are the best adaptation of a comic book... since they don't change much the source material
... wonder how The Watchmen will turn out
BTW: I just saw "The Spirit" trailer... looks good, though a little too much Sin City for my taste...
Impediment
The Watchmen will fail, just as every Alan Moore adaptation has done.
The Dark Knight is even better than, dare I say, Sin City.
S_D_J
Yes.. as a movie.. It is
I was thinking more alone the lines of staying true to the comic book
... though Sin City has only so much to be based around... while The Dark Knight is a new and (to an extent) original story...

You have little faith, sir.
Personally, I thought V for Vendetta was a great movie and quality adaption. Although I think we can all agree that League of Extraordinary Gentleman was a pile of shit.
Watchmen looks good from the trailer, but of course we won't know how good/faithful it is until we actually watch the film.

You have doubts on Watchmen? why so?

And Yes, it is the best comic book movie ever made.
jrodslam
Definitely top 3. Hard to decide if its #1. For now, just by going off watching it for the first time, id have to say no. It isnt the greatest superhero movie ever.
super pr*xy
for now, yes. if there is a movie out that has the ability to shatter spiderman record, it will be the dark knight.
Micheal_Myers
Without a doubt.
super pr*xy
you'd think that batman and robin couldn't look more ridiculous, then this movie comes out.
Endrict Nuul
Too date? Hellz yeah, hands down.
Kento
It's in the top 3 that's for sure if not number 1.
Starscream M
def the best imo
SelinaAndBruce
Speaking of Batman and Robin it is funny to consider that that is the worst comic book movie to date and now Batman is also the star of the best comic book movie to date. The character has truly run the gamut, lol
Emil Blonsky
Yes, this movie is even up there as one of the greatest movies ever, not just the best superhero movie. I'll be seeing it again tomorrow.

Yes The Dark Knight is
=Tired Hiker=
As far as making money, probably. But as being a great comic book film, no. Hellboy 2 and Iron Man were far better than The Dark Knight. I still think Superman, dircected by Richard Donner in the 1970's is the greatest comic book movie of all time.

But it's not...
Just because people say it doesn't make it true...
Dent told Rachel everything was gonna be all right, but that wasn't true, was it?
It's definitely the best COMIC BOOK FILM to date, but the greatest film ever? Get real!

I'd have to disagree. Iron Man is good. Hellboy 2 is meh as comic book movies. While The Dark Knight is a great comic book movie

I could watch Iron Man over and over, same as Hell Boy 2. The Dark Knight I could probably stand maybe one more time before I'd be completely bored out of my gourd. The Dark Knight was a well made film. The Joker was the best thing about it. Everything else was not very innovative or fresh. Don't get me wrong, it was a very good film, but it did not score points for originality or entertainment value for me. I disagree with you, you disagree with me, so there we have it. I still think Iron Man and Hell Boy 2 are way better.
sithsaber408
I want it on DVD already so that I can watch Begins followed by Knight and see the greatest comic book story on film.
Those 5 hours, those 2 films back to back are far better than the xmen trilogy, the Spiderman trilogy, the Superman films, or any others that I can think of. Many of the films in those series are great, but the overall arc/story....
beaten by Nolan and Bale with these 2 films.
Just my opinion, of course.
SelinaAndBruce
I don't even know if I want to watch Batman Begins again. Even that seems like dry crap when put up against the Dark Knight IMO. And Hell Boy and Iron Man? The thing that is so amazing to me about the Dark Knight is it transcends it's genre to the point where both of those movies seem almost childish to me. And I thought Iron Man was great and it still is a good movie but it just can't compare to the Dark Knight imo. Iron Man's a comic book flick. The Dark Knight is an epic.
Micheal_Myers
Iron Man cant even compare to The Dark Knight imo. Both are great films, but TDK is a much greater film in a league of its own as far as I'm concerned.

to be honest, you can't really say any movie is the greatest movie,
too many people have different tastes to say a certain movie is THE GREATEST
but I don't hear people bitching about it when people say The Godfather is the greatest movie of all time. The only reason people don't want to think of TDK as the greatest movie is because the majority of the world can't take it seriously, because it is a Superhero movie.
Endrict Nuul
DK is a lot more serious and is a way better comic book movie than any other. DK you had to listen to the dialog, unlike other comic book movies. The only two that doesn't fit the typical "popcorn flick" are begins and Sin City. I didn't even order anything to eat or drink while the movie was on.
Iron Man, was a good comic book movie but it wasn't serious at all. It was more of a popcorn flick and like all of the other comic book movies. Again with Hellboy 2, it was good and is a major popcorn flick but at times cheesy.
Like S & B stated DK is epic beyond all others.

Neither did I, actually the funny thing is. On my way out of the theatre, I found to large pocorn bags...still completely full of popcorn. The people didnt even eat their food.
SelinaAndBruce
You know what's funny, I ate popcorn all through the previews and even though I saw the movie twice before I handed the bucket to my sister when it started, told her she could have the rest and when we left it had about the same amount in it that I handed to her. I never even though about it or would have thought a thing of it until I read this thread.

No, I can take TDK very seriously...
The scene with the two boats and the remote control bombs is intense stuff...
I'm only against calling TDK the best film ever because it's not... There are other films that surpass TDK...
Like I said, Godfather, imo, surpasses TDK because there is so much story telling... They told an amazing story thanks to Mario Puzo's excellent novel... Not that TDK didn't tell an excellent story, because it did, but Godfather's story is so much more "real", if that makes any sense... ANYONE can be a gangster and EVERYONE has family, and therefore, people can relate to it more... You don't need fancy gadgets or martial arts, and you don't need a suped up tank car/bike or millions of dollars...
Myth
I say yes, but isn't a poll in the Batman section going to be a little biased? lol.
SelinaAndBruce
Well if you asked if Batman and Robin is the best comic book movie ever in this same forum I think you'd get a different answer, lmao

I still think it can happen...
Nolan's done it before, what makes us think he can't do it again? With or without Joker, he'll find a way to AT LEAST surpass Begins...

yeah I have no doubt that he will surpass begins,
depending on what story he goes for in the 3rd movie
maybe something along the lines of hush,
I would love to see The Dark Knight returns put to screen,
but that's just my fanboyism

SelinaAndBruce
Surpassing Begins IMO won't be that hard. For me Begins was good but kind of stale because it didn't have that memorable of villains or fight scenes IMO and was really just a lot of prologue. Which is fine but it was dead on the excitement for me. The Dark Knight pushed all of it into the next level. It had the good story telling but two great villains and great performances from them and atmosphere that was out of this world and it improved on the small things that made Begins good but not great IMO. The thing is I think the Dark Knight is damn near perfect. I don't know what Nolan can really improve on overall to make the next movie greater than this. With Batman Begins I saw things that I was hoping would be better in the next movie. The Dark Knight surpassed my expectations to the point where I can't even think of what could be greater. Maybe Nolan can and once again he will surprise me...but man...

A comic book movie of this stature won't happen again for a long ass time.
D_A_R_E
It's the best without a doubt. Anybody who says otherwise has seriously bad taste in movies. I hope to God the next is even better as impossible as that seems.
Emil Blonsky
I doubt it. It'll be good, but not on this calibur, I'd bet my first born on it.
SpaceMonkey
It's rather exciting where comic book movies are going. What Marvel is doing with separately introducing The Avengers in their own movies and culminating in a super-movies is great.
I believe, stand-alone wise, TDK is the best ever. I find it to be a great movie in ANY genre, not having to label it. When you do categorize it, it becomes even better. Let's say there was never a comic book called Batman. The story would be of a vigilante in a crime-filled city with very little help because alot of the police is corrupted. Along comes a beacon of light that can relieve the vigilante of his duties. However, the beacon of light becomes compromised when a crazy sadistic maniac comes along and tries to ruin everything... and succeeds. Doesn't have to be a comic book movie, just so happens that this story is filled with these characters from a comic book, which makes it all better. I freaking LOVE it!

I agree with the part about Superman still being the greatest comicbook movie of all time.

I could watch BOTH Ironman and The Dark Knight over and over again.Their both great movies.Thats a good point though about The Dark Knight not being innovative or fresh.as it was talked about on the similarities of the Burton and Nolan films.Nolan took somethings from Batman 89 and put thim in his films.a few similarities between the two.Joker going out in the open streets and challenging Batman like he did,ect ect.
Emil Blonsky
Mr Parker, you're a fool, so no one cares what you agree with.
TDK is better than any Superman movie, and Batman is flat out all around better than Superman. That's fact.
Mr Parker
The fact that you engage in name calling cause someone disagrees with you just shows who the fool here is.Thats NOT a fact kid its an opinion.Something people have a right here to express.Go and tell Hiker your OPINION since he said it originally.

its truley sad that your still carrying over a grudge from a debate over that stupid man-spider movie that you worship and have to bring it here to the Batman section.meet my ignore list.
Emil Blonsky
I don't worship anything, but I do hold a firm belief that you're an idiot, and so do most people here.
WrathfulDwarf
Let's just calm down fellas. Talk about the movie no attacks. Please...
Emil Blonsky
Alrighty then...
After seeing the movie for my second time on Sunday, I hold the belief that Heath is the greatest comic movie villain of all time. Bale's Batman was just the coolest, loved him even more this time & his Bruce Wayne remains untouchable.
Darth Creasy
As another poster whom I am loathe to give a compliment stated, you could remove Batman and the movie still works as a crime drama. I read online where someone compared it to "Heat". It sounds rediculous at first but this movie really does match up with the best non-comic movies ever.
Emil Blonsky
This movie is so great it's ridiculous. I literally don't dislike anything about this movie. This year holds the three greatest superhero movies yet: The Dark Knight, The Incredible Hulk, & Iron Man
Nuff said.
BigRed
It goes like this for me:
1. The Dark Knight
2. Iron Man
3. Superman Returns
4. Batman Begins
5. Punisher
Devil King
I can't say it's definately the best of all time, but it's the best one I've seen. I've not seen Iron Man or The Hulk (I have no intention of seeing The Hulk, either)
The Dark Knight
X-Men
Batman Begins
X-Men United
With most of the other comic book movies coming in somewhere around here and the worst being the first Hulk movie, just about every Superman movie and the last 2 Spider-Man films.
And rounding out the list is that horrible Captain America movie I saw when I was a kid.
Darth Creasy
1. The Dark Knight
2. Iron Man
3. Batman Begins
4. Spidey Movies
5. Superman 1
6. Superman 25
7. X-2
8. Blade 1
9. Incredible Hulk (2008)
10. FF: Rise of The Silver Surfer
Only the first Batman with Keaton and Nicholson and the Punisher deserve to even be mentioned after the top ten.
