I think it's safe to say that most characters have at least one monologue to their credit and that most have quite a few. So out of all those characters who do you guys think gives the BEST monologues on average(and scan of examples are encouraged).
Anyway for me(and I'm sure plenty of others) it's gotta be Cap...

I like Batman. Even though he's a dark loner, he never takes credit for anything. Even when someone tells him (you did it) , he always replies with ( no we did it).
Starscream M
I like Dr. Doom for his sheer pompasity
manjaro
i defy anyone to find a better monologist than magneto in his prime.....or better yet any X related character that was under claremont's umbrella in the early 90s.....you woulda thought that shakespeare came to town
Symmetric Chaos
Deadpool or Magneto
shiv
Magneto vs Doom vs Apocalypse vs Deadpool

Darkseid. When he's got good writers, like Simonson or Morrison, there is a hellish grandeur to his words.
Citizen V
Captain America, with ease.
His words always seem to have a certain resonance that rings true, regardless of the situation; a talent which allowed him to earn the admiration and loyalty of gods.

Totally agree. In one of the first Avengers missions, Thor claimed he would follow Cap if he charged through hell.

That's easy to say when Thor's already been to hell like 5 times!
Thor would follow the pizza guy if he charged into fat camp!

Steve's at the top of the list. When he speaks, people listen.
His monologue here, though - thoughtful but impractical in a real sense. You can't govern a country of 300 million people all moving in different directions. It has to be majority rule.

The Watcher.
Up there, all alone. Cosmically empowered wiith the ability to speak in airless space with the best view in the universe. Now that's an ability just begging to be used!

For me it's Batman, hands down.
Juntai
Spectre's are good too.

His DC Universe # 0 monologue was ok, but yes, he usually does give good monologues.

Spiderman has some pretty great inner thought monologues IMO
Other than that I'd say Dr. Doom and Lex. Also Punisher has great inner thoughts.

Red Hulk's are pretty neat.

Really? Because I thought the final monologue was great.

I just love the concept of blame everything that's wrong with society on Batman, the true hero who stands in the face of injustice, only because he fights it outside of the law. Then outcast him because "the hero the city needs" is a "white knight" and not a "vigilante". However, Batman is "the hero Gotham deserves, but isn't ready for yet, and so they'll "hunt him, because he can take it, because he's not a hero, he's a watchful protector, a silent guardian, a dark knight". The final monologue captured the main theme of the movie in a couple of lines. IMO, the idea is such a fresh and accurate illustration of how a crime fighter would be seen in the real world.

Apoc for me, not even one from the comics, one from the TAS - to the key of " blah - you are the waves and i am the shore, watch how you crash upon me and crumble- blah"
stuck with me - as far as monologues go ;-)

not really a monologue since he was talking to someone, but nur is the best with soliloquies, after all, he was brought up before the "breakdown" of speech and since he is so grandiose, he has to speak in such a manner.

"I am as far beyond mutants, as they are beyond you." then something like "Look upon me and tremble, as I bring oblivion to your world".
Always wondered why he said "your world" ... like they were trying to make out he was an alien or something.
TricksterPriest
Nur said quite a few times that his goal was to destroy the world and remake it as he saw fit. Given that they never really explored his origins, and he came back from the Astral plane after he was supposed to be erased from time, he might be an alien of some kind......

Are you insinuating that speech post ancient Egyptian era is "broken"????

the Egyptians never created the English language so....ummm no
there was some stuff going on in the world between egypt and current history.

you do know that apocalypse found the then surgeon nathanial essex in victorian era england, he offered him enhanced powers in exchange for servitude....using old english as a means of communication.
also, the crusader benett du paris had his latent power's awakened by apocalypse (becming exodus) during the medievil era, again apocalypse conversed in that era's form of english.
the "broken" element i was stating is the lack of sofistication of speach patterns of the majority of english speakers as of the later portion of the 1900's. slang and vernacular make nur's speach stand out, just like an english professor at a university makes his/her student's sound simple in comparison.
what else doesn't make sense to you in that?

Totally agree with you on this statement. However this statement only proves that post Egyptian speech isn't "broken" as you've accurately surmised with your closing example....

I'm not sure I agree with you about the degeneration, but we'll agree to disagree
AlmightyKfish
Storm in Xmen TAS. She just wouldn't shut up about her damn powers when she used them.
But for actual monologues, Deadpool's are teh greatest. And Cap's.
Ooooh and Thanos. And Darkseid.....And Doom.
Yeah there's quite a few actually
