(CNN) -- Comic actor Bernie Mac died early Saturday of complications from pneumonia, according to a family member and his publicist. He was 50.

I did read earlier this week that he had caught pneumonia and he was in the hospital. I thought he would get better and be send home. But..wow...this was much more serious than I previously thought.

as with Ledger i think Bernie Mac should be given a posthumous Oscar for his work in Transformers
not seen any of his stand up but im assuming his gags hit the mark unlike his choice of roles in the movies

i thought Bernie Mac was as irritating as his monicker so yes i was joking

I knew he had medical conditions a few years ago. I was reading an article that said he was nothing like the brash, outspoken characters he played and was really gentle and had lung & throat problems.

That being said, I was not surprised when I heard that he died but it was still too young.

I never thought it was that bad though, that he'd die. They said he'd make a fully recovery but that just goes to show that anything can happen.

Maybe he had Aids

He was a great man. On and off the camera. His favorite sports team was the Chicago White Sox. They even showed up at his funeral along with Mayor Daley and alot of celebrities.
