New film by the great Kevin Smith due out in October (i think).
I have been very exited about this movie coming out.
And i saw nowhere else on here to talk about it so...
From what i know about it of course Kevin Smith is the writer & director.
The cast is Seth Rogen, Elizabeth Banks, Jason Mewes, & Traci Lords.
And the plot is well think about it...
So what are some thoughts & opinions about the film?

I actually haven't heard about this, but I'll definitely see it, I enjoy a lot of Kevin Smith's stuff.

Ditto. I'm a big Kevin Smith fan, so I'll be waiting for it to hit my hometown.

Perhaps this may be funny. Kevin Smith just fought hard to keep the dreaded NC-17 rating off it.

This is the second movie by Smith to be out of the "View Askew-niverse". And, yes, he fought hard with the MPAA to get an "R" rating. That just means that the unrated DVD will by that much juicier.

It looks like it'll be fun.

Say what you people will, but I enjoyed "Jersey Girl". Kevin Smith doesn't need Jay & Silent Bob to make money.

But they sure do help.

Im looking forward to this movie as well. Im glad he got the "R" rating for his movie. I liked all his movies, even though most people think im crazy for liking some of his stuff.

Actually, the unrated DVD won't have too much more, Smith was able to appeal the NC-17 Rating to an R Rating without having to make any more cuts.

I fully agree i thought Jersey Girl was one of his best films.

Interested in this.

But the last movie he made outside of the Jersey Chronicles was pretty disappointing. Hopefully this one will be better.

Yeah, i've been looking forward to this movie since it was announced. I also got to see the crew filming at Monroeville Mall a few months back. Monroeville Mall is ten minutes from my apartment so i thought it take a ride over during that day. I was surprised to see how many people actually showed up.

I just hope the three minute teaser trailer isn't an indication of the type of humor involved in the movie. The trailer was awfully boring. Can't wait for the movie to release though.

It's Seth Rogen! I'll probably watch this on the internet, though, on account of me not having any money to currently go see it. I could end up going to see it at the theater if someone else pays...shiftyeyes

I like Kevin Smith's movies; I'll be there. I've actually been pretty excited for this one for quite some time.

I'm not really much of a Kevin Smith fan, but I did enjoy Clerks II, so this should be pretty good.

I saw the preview for this one awhile back looks hilarious.

Does anyone else find it absurd that the title of Kevin Smith's new film, "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" has been shortened down to "Zack and Miri" on many american T.V. station commercials?

There seems to be quite a discomfort level with the subject matter and title, yet there never seems to be a problem with commercials glorifying violent movies or even the news running lurid sex stories.

Why the hub-bub about a movies title?

I saw it yesterday and it was really good. Very funny and the story wasn't as bad as many people think when they see the word "porno" in the title.

The fact that it is made by Kevin Smith is enough of a reason to see it, but besides that, it looks funny as hell as well.

I watched it on opening day, and it was awesome. Not his best but still great.

I enjoyed this. Like you^ said, it wasn't Kevin Smith's best film (which imo is Chasing Amy), but it was very funny and fairly solid. Still, it felt like it was lacking something or maybe the end was rushed, I don't know, but it didn't feel complete to me. Regardless, I'm glad I went and watched this.

I think listening to smodcast has taken something away from Smiths movies for me. i couldn't help but hear Kevin Smiths voice behind the delivery of every piece of dialogue. I was satisfied with Zack and Miri. It had some legitimately funny moments, some of which i didn't expect. Seth Rogan did a decent job with making the dialogue feel natural which can be hard to do with Kevin Smith material. I'm glad to see that Smith was able to employ a bag full of experienced comedic actors while still retaining an indie/amateur tone to the movie. I hope that he continues this trend in his future movie's because Smith is a genuinely funny guy that can create classic comedy with the right actors. I agree with Snake Eyes. Maybe it was the pacing or balance of humor and heart but it definitely felt like something was unfinished or missing. It is however a fun little movie that offers some great laughs. I wouldn't say it's his best movie but it's definitely one of his better movie's especially the technical aspect.

I feel the same. It had some great moments. Justin Long was pretty funny and Brandon Routh seemed kinda uncomfortable, specially when Long kissed him. At the end I felt something was missing too. I wanted to see what happened with the movie. If they were able to sell it and get the money they need it.

Caught an afternoon showing........pretty funny stuff. Good Kevin Smith flick. I'm curious as to how his next flick will turn out. I think its called "Red State"? Should be interesting to see Smith and his take on the horror genre.

Fan-f*cking-tastic movie. I laughed out loud numerous times. Especially the "pull out" part. I almost gagged while laughing so hard. The surprise Jason Mewes moment was expected, since it was leaked onto the web as a spoiler, but I still enjoyed the hell out of the "Dutch Rudder" scene.

lol yeah, the dutch rudder scene was funny.

Seriously! That's why his stuff is so underrated. Maybe it's on purpose. He makes enough money to make a bit of a profit but only caters to his core crowd.

Still have yet to see this, but plan on checking out the DVD as the entire cast pretty much always has me laughing, especially Rogen.

i find it disgusting that this movie's title was so heavily censored. Not only were most of the movie posters forced to remove "make a porno" from the title but most commercial distribution outlets have removed "make a porno" from the title as well.

The people in this country make me want to contract the aids virus and then go vomit on babies. I'm surprised this hasn't gotten any attention. It's a goddamn word people, not a dirty word, not a curse word.

Agreed, people are so sensitive about every little thing. It's a damn comedy, it's not like they are trying to put an actual porno in theaters or some shit like that.

Didn't you hear? "Sex" is okay to put in the title (i.e. Sex Drive) but not "porno."

I loved Zack and Miri. I blindbought it and felt this is the best DVD purchase I have made in a while.

Agreed. I enjoyed Jersey Girl as well, but it was completely different than the rest of his movies, which threw people off.

Zack and Miri, while not a View Askewniverse movie, was pretty damn close to being one. It could possibly even be one, only Jay and Silent Bob weren't in it.

i know.. they have maury povich and jerry springer on daytime tv showing promiscuous teens f*cking everything that walks, mothers sleeping with their daughters husbands and siblings that sleep with each other. not to mention the words ass and ***** fly freely on prime time tv. all the while, the censors get bent out of shape when they hear "leave your ass for a white girl" on the radio.

Funny movie - especially the shitting on the face scene! - but the ending was a pile of shit.

Yeah. The actor's name is Jason Mewes, who plays Jay in Smith's other films/Lester in Zack and Miri.

That's my man. He'd get my vote for one of the funniest guys in movies. It's the way he says stuff.

Mewes was surprisingly good in, The Tripper.

I still haven't seen this movie, but I think it looks funny. I definitely plan on renting it when it comes out on DVD.
