Post what you think are the best movie creatures and post pictures too.

I was watching Fear & Loathing yesterday and was thinking that the human sized Lizards in the bar are one of the best creature designs ever put on film

http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i264/krezel7/lizards7dzzk0.gif

Also the Mangalores from The Fifth Element are cool

http://files.polyloop.net/tutorials/mangalore/mangalores.jpg

And the vampires from From Dusk Till Dawn are cool

http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/4894/vlcsnap2192607xx3.png

I'll also say Gremlins and Tremors.

Selphie
I've always been pretty impressed with the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

I don't remember that thing.

Anyways, the Aliens and Predators certainly should get some recognition here, as well as Pumpkinhead, Cloverfield monster, Godzilla and crew, 90s Gamera and crew, the JP dinosaurs, and so on.

Röland
The Thing alien.

Come on people keep them coming. Some good picks so far.

I'll also say

The Gillman from The Monster Squad

Saurod from Masters of the Universe

Mindship
Godzilla, in Godzilla, Mothra & Kind Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack.

This has the best rendition of Godzilla I've ever seen. The rubber suit is at its best, the white pupilless eyes make him look badass; there's even one scene (where he's swimming underwater), where Godzilla is pure CGI (this is the CGI Godzilla they should've had in '98).

http://www.henshinonline.com/images/gmk_godzilla02.jpg

(This was the best pic I could find from the film. While it doesn't show the pupilless eyes to best advantage, it does highlight Big G's outstanding tricep and quadricep development. cool )

Selphie
Henrietta from Evil Dead 2 always creeps me out a bit. Sorry for the smaller pictures, best I could find.

EDIT: I don't know if this counts, but if it does, the flying monkeys, they really are scary as shit.

The best Godzilla suits are GMK, GFW, Godzilla vs. Mothra, GXMG, and GvMG.

the bugs in Starship Troopers 1 still piss all over recent cgi monsters for realism
the Rancor for all its old school charm and another nod to the Wizard of Oz flying monkeys
which too piss on the cgi stuff out there

Yeah best CGI creatures go to Starship Troopers and I'll also say Deep Rising.

Oh and Slither is full of sick and twisted creature effects.

moviebuff1084
Slither was epic.

Spartan005
Definetely Starship troopers... I'm sure others will come to mind later. I'm so sick and tired of seeing every single creature ever invented having the exact same features of a human, two legs, two arms and maybe some creepy looking skin or something.

Why would you say that? Superman could beat almost anyone, much less a giant dinosaur. At least Godzilla has always just been a dinosaur who has big and breaths atomic fire, his writers have consistency. They created an awesome and iconic character that was strong enough and memorable enough to last all this time on his own, even though most of his movies are shit. If they're not genuinely enjoyable they're at least good for a laugh.

Conversely, while iconic and memorable, Superman has gone through more power and continuity alterations than the Transformers. The fact that his writers have always expected us comics readers to go "Oh look, he has human problems! Like us!", and ignore the fact that he is more or less a god in every other area, unlike us, does the double job of insulting my intellect and making him entirely unrelatable. It's hard to genuinely feel "Oh that sucks what he's going through with Lois! I can relate to that.", because I'd personally perk up a bit if I knew I could fly around the world in seconds, had unfathomable strength, immunity to pretty much everything else and enough potential groupies to make Motley Crue blush. All of this makes Superman, in my opinion, about much as fun as a video game with infinite ammo and health; very, for about five minutes.

Nothing personal, I just find it frustrating when people who like Superman pretty much still feel they have to wave their "Our favourite character is more powerful than yours!" card in our faces, despite it being tremendously ill gotten.

Anyway, on topic; Predator was always cool, Cloverfield monster is an excellent design, the eponymous creature from The Thing, too.

I agree about Starship troopers. Best CGI IMO to date. I was amazed when I saw this movie in theatres and still am to this day. Why on earth can't any movie match it? It puzzles me.

I saw Silent Hill again recently... I was amazed by Pyramidhead, again.

I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way about Superman. Superman has just gotten lame... he has no limits, yes he is pratically a god. Shit, he is even immortal... how ****ing lame is that? How do Superman's fans put up with this? You know he is the strongest... you know he will always prevail and will never die... boring.

Dark-Jaxx
Superman is not invincible actually...

His villains are often much more powerful than he is.

Did you forget that Doomsday killed him and the writers brought him back from the "dead". He IS invincible... LAME.

Enough about boring ol' Superman.

Enough about boring ol' Superman. He never died. He was beaten and had to replenish his solar energy in his cells.

Did you forget that Doomsday later beat the crap out of an amped Superman, even broke his arm?

Did you forget that Superman along with a bunch of other heroes were no match for Superman Prime?

Superman is hardly invincible. Their are many more powerful characters.

Though yes, enough about the greatest hero ever created, Superman.

The series was called "The Death of Superman", lame... he didn't die. He has not died he has not lost (I mean lost and not somehow beat his opponent in the end) . So what I said holds true.

At least you realize that it would be TOTALLY lame if Superman could not be hurt. Of course he is hurt... I never said he was Invulnerable.

Get it? Move on.

Dark-Jaxx
He lost to Superman Prime.

Someone else had to send him to another universe, or else Superman would have died. I assure you.

And as far as always finding a way to win in the end, that can be pinned on much more characters than Superman. That's just a basic attribute of a protagonist.

Alpha Centauri
No offense, but do Superman fans ever think that not everybody wants to talk about Superman...all the time?

I replied because I thought it might actually give you some much needed truth, not in a mean way, I just didn't see what you hoped to gain by bringing him into this thread unprovoked.

Why now, then, are you turning this into a debate about Superman? You get the jist, don't you, Jaxx? Lots of people find him ridiculously overpowered, inconsistent and boring. That isn't cue to say "But he's lost to...". We know he has lost fights, that doesn't change our opinions.

No, he's right. People do find him to be inconsistent and boring, and fans such as yourself always have to find a way to involve him into something that has nothing at all to do with Superman.

Can the moderators of this forum please do their job and delete the off-topic posts in this thread. Its gone completely off the rails.

Spartan005
Seriously, if you want to prove a point or something its always going to turn into a debate so just leave it out or take it to another thread.

Anyway, not that its the best creature design but I always loved Jabba's big monster thing from Return of the Jedi and the behemoth tentacle thing from the end of the first Hellboy.
