Did Bush steal the 2000 election?

Yeah he did, case closed.

I care not about the 2000 election but the 2004 election had a record amount of errors in history. States like NM, IO, OH, FL and NV were Kerry in the exit polls, then they flipped. PA and NH were heavily Democratic, yet were pushed to being close. Dennis Kucinich, Ralph Nader and others said there was clear voter disenfranchment, in 200X (not sure of when but sometime after the election) there was evidence that the voting machines used in Ohio, Florida, etc had been programmed to steal votes.

Gore sucked anyway.

Strangelove
I don't blame Bush himself, I blame Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris (purging voter rolls), Ralph Nader (margin of victory: 537 votes. Nader got 97,421 votes. More than 2/3s of those would have gone to Gore if Nader hadn't run), and, you know, Al Gore (even though he should have won, he made some pretty dumb moves).

Devil King
I wouldn't go so far as to say he stole the election; I'd simply say he stole it better. There are huge numbers of lawsuits, complaints, accusations and interventions by unqualified groups involved in the 2000 Florida elections as well as in a huge number of other nationwide elections. This trend was repeated in the 2004 elections, but recieved far less coverage than those incidents in the 2000 elections. And there were even a number of the same claims made after the 2006 mid-terms. These accusations were leveled against both Democrats and Republicans, and often times both in the same state. What I would hope is that this issue wasn't turned into a partisan issue, but become a national issue. This is not a party matter, it's an issue that involves those getting elected vs those who do the electing. It's a crisis for the people and the process, not the two parties.

BackFire
No, Gore got more votes.

Clearly Bush won.

I forgot about Nader. That was the single biggest divide. Had he not ran, things would be alot different right now.Originally posted by Devil King

I wouldn't say I won the thread. I don't subscribe to the idea that just because both partie's members have been accused that it makes the terrible descisions and horrendous abuse of position and power for which this President and his administration are responsible, just go away. It's not an even stevens kind of situation.

sithsaber408
And I'm not excusing any of the terrible decisions or abuse of positions.

I just wanted to see if people really believed that old "and by the way...Bush STOLE the election!" nonsense that has been thrown about for years.

But yeah, we've got other bigger problems to worry about.

AngryManatee
Gore only won popular vote. Electoral College ftw lolz.

lord xyz
Gore lost every bellwether minus Deleware.

Toku King
Doesn't matter. Everyone would be bitching with Gore and KErry the same way they are about Bush.
All three sucked. The end.

irregardless of what happened, I'm glad this can be agreed upon

You really are such a little prick. You go around correcting peoples posts, when I've seen you make so many glaring errors before - by being naive, arrogant and just downright stupid.

Maybe you should forget about grammar for a bit and focus on knowledge, as you certainly lack it.

Stop correcting people for honest mistakes, who are leagues above you in intelligence.

Bardock42
Hehe, xyz is the Nemo of intelligence.

"Steal" is such an ugly word... it's only "stealing" of you get caught, right?

Then stealing would be the right word. What you are probably trying to say is "It's only stealing if you get punished".

Who caught him? As far as I know every body saw what happened then just turned away as if nothing happened. Ultimately that is what occurred.

Well, it was just a cheeky remark on him being "caught" as in people knowing that he did it, but nothing happening to him regardless. Don't worry. Proceed.

Everyone else doesn't run around playing grammar-police, it's only a handful of people, which of those, the majority are hypocritical idiots who make mistakes themselves.

Please, please don't, xyz. I think I know what the sort of posts you're talking about - they're nothing special, sorry to break it to you this way, I'm sure you're crushed.
