I think they are comparable. Ellis has a taste for crazy subject matter, just like Morrison.
Thoughts?

I'd say so ... and quite eloquently at that.

Ellis. I've read stuff by Grant that's bad, though a lot that's decent. But I think he's overrated. I haven't disliked anything I've read of Ellis.

No, seriously. Both are superb writers, among my favorite ones.
Grant Morrision gave us Animal Man, Doom Patrol, Arkham Asylum, the Invisibles, Batman - Gothic, Rock of Ages...Warren Ellis gave us Transmetropolitan, Stormwatch, The Authority, Planetary...
Overall, Grant wins this.

Warren Worthington. =P
Disappear
warren seems to like a corrupt american government and unborn universes in need of a big bang, and grant seems to like doing drugs and giving pseudo-science a revival in every goddamn story he's written. both are good, and despite ellis kind of being a dick, i prefer his work.
starlock
Ellis for the stomp!

Does Morrison lose points for his recent "Batman & Son" storyline?
(Somewhere, Wrathful Dwarf is nodding savagely.censored)

Haven't read it, all I know is that if I had to work for that moronic Dan Didio I wouldn't be able to tell my elbow from my ass after the first 3 weeks. So no wonder Grant's production resents from it, too.

Grant,Grant and Grant
i think grant is the better writer for several reasons :
1) Final crisis is brilliant
2)Warren ellis should have stayed on iron man when he wrote extremies he was amazin but he left after six issues
3)Love New x-men
4)love his whole run on batman
5)Warren Ellis hasn't done enough 616 marvel or dearth 1 dc for my liking don't quote me on that one
6)Grant has killed of Martian Manhunter my least favorite big seven
7)Grant did the best jla run ever
8)Warren Ellis should have stay longer on JLA Classified but still great book
etc etc etc see there are several reason why Grant is better

A) You loved Batman & Son and Batman: R.I.P?
B) Your beef with Ellis is that he doesn't stay on to write books which are great? I'll admit, leaving The Authority was evil, but still...
C) You like Morrison because he killed a character? You do realise that was probably Dan Didio's decision? I do understand, however, that you can't actually have people read your praise for an editor. Quesada and Didio are, of course, both money-grabbing leeches...

You didn't actually give an answer you just used Warren Ellis' first name and Morrison's last.
That was so ****ing funny. Seriously.
Just like close the forum because no one is going to top that.
Right now.

You seen the bio for Ellis? He's been a regular at Marvel & DC since the early 1990's.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_Ellis
Yeah, it seems like he jumps around a lot, but look closely and you see a few lengthy runs on some books.
So Grant Morrison kills off The Martian Manhunter? Hands up everyone who thinks he stays dead.
roughrider
I'm not siding with one or the other just yet. Although it can be irritating, how Morrison puts on a show of being clever...

I confess, I enjoyed Batman and Son too. It was an alright story. It was actually quite fun, though, yes, Damian's a shit.
Don't tell Wrathful Dwarf I said that
However, RIP is/ was... not so fun, or good, or anything remotely positive...

-V-
I think both are over-rated, and past their best.
Oh noes, I went there.
comicfan11
Have to go with Morrison.
Doom Patrol and Animal Man are simply great and his JLA (Classified included) simply can't be bested.
I really enjoy Batman RIP and issue #663 was simply the sickest Joker portrayal ever (along with Arkham Asylum which is also his)
Plus I think that Final Crisis when it is completed will overshadow all the other DC events by far...(here's to hope)

so am i, but issue 2 wasnt as good as he's capable of, imo...
Black Adam
Ellis.
never really cared for Morrison.
roughrider
The event that was supposed to be Final Crisis is disintegrating before our eyes. What kind of yelling matches could be going on between Morrison & Dan Didio?
I liked the recent run by Ellis on Thunderbolts. I always seem to smile after reading him.
Anti-Monitor
Lulz @ another one must have slipped through Digi's mighty modding skills.

There's supposed to be a Writers Vs. Thread, isn't there?
If he moves it, fine. But I can't find it.

I think we made an artist one but I never got around to the writer's one. I'll make one shortly.
