Do you pronounce it "juring" or "during"? I pronounce it "juring" but I hear a lot of people, notably Americans, who pronounce it "during". Sounds weird, but how do you pronounce it?

By the way, there's more cases than during.

Sol Valentine
With some long sentences, I say "juring", but if I'm just saying it by itself or in some short sentences I pronounce it "during".

Mairuzu
Well... its spelled "during".... so i say during

Yeah, but u follows it. Like in "picture", "sugar" or "procedure".

Told you there were more.

ScarletSpeed
I say "juring" but that's cause Glaswegians talk so fast, and basically don't give a **** about the English language,

so it either just sounds like "juring"

or genuinely we just say it, cause we're all rebellious and stuff.

"Juring", I think if someone in Scotland said "during" they'd get the piss ripped out of them.

Strangelove

I'm not Mexican or chapanese...,i don't pronounce dering as juring. That's just silly.

JacopeX

AbnormalButSane
I say "during" with a hard 'd' sound. I also say the hard 'd' for "durable."

Juring? That seems ridiculous...

I say 'during'...

Jesus Christ, the "a" in can't is absolutely not universal.

Selphie

I know, but in Britain, everyone pronounces it the same, as far as I know.

Education, Procedure, Durable?

But I add the 'j' sound AFTER the 'd' sound...

ED-jucation, ProceDE-jure, and Durable? Durable has no 'j' sound for me.

And 'd' is the first consonant in the word 'during'. No real way I could see a 'j' sound coming from that, but that's just me...

No, I pronounce it like 'toon'.

But if I ever do mix it up, or say it differently, I will say 'tyoooon'. But not with a "ch" sound.

Maybe it's just because they're at the beginning of words.

How is that possibly giving anyone any clue as to what pronunciation you mean?

Also, there is very different pronunciation among Southern Britons. Somerset is different from Bristol, etc etc. Learn what you're talking about, you northern scally.

Still different pronunciation in different regions. But yeah, I say 'bath' like I say 'father'. The same for most of those types of words, like 'grass' etc.

Lara
I hate to point out the obvious but they are two different word with two different meanings so for me this is a little confusing.
