I hear that everyone is going to Houston. So, all the emergency routes are ****ed. My cousin, who lives down there, said that a normal 2 hour trip to Houston from where she's at is now going to take over 24 hours to get to Houston with all the traffic backups and dead stops.

Either way, you're ****ed.

I went into the water yesterday and the surf was breaking at the first sand bar when it usually breaks at the third sand bar the best. I would have had to go get my surfboard to go any further but it was all chop (= crap) anyway. I'm glad I get to see all this shit in person though rather than seeing what they show me on tv but that's the story of my life.

i just checked into a hotel with a few people. our power went out, and i live like 45 minutes to an hour from galveston.

the drive over to the hotel was eerie. the streets were practically empty, almost like a ghost town.

Haha, everything is flooded over here. The creek that is 4 blocks away from my house has flooded so badly that all of the streets up until one block from mine are closed.

There are a ton of rivers over flood level, I don't live by any of them, though.

Well, there was 7 inches of rain just yesterday alone.

Always a good laugh, I guess. Galveston was under mandatory evacuation. Those who stayed knew what was coming. They would have stood a better chance at protecting themselves and their pets if they had left. As for protecting their homes, how are you gonna protect your home against mother nature?

People had places to go and plenty of time to do it, FEMA would even help them if they couldnt afford it. I agree 100%, those who remained behind were stubborn to do so.

We're still flooded out here in Chicago, the high school by my house is closed for a few days because it flooded, it lost power, and no one can even get to it because of the roads being closed from the flooding. My sister is pleased that she doesn't have school, though...

At least the creek (that normally is 4 blocks away) has gone down enough that it no longer reaches my street ermm
