Where Do You Work?

Did a search, nothing came up.

Just as the title asks, where do you work? And what do you do there? Be it full time, part time, seasonally, etc.

I work at Super Target.
(Super Target is differentiated from normal Target in the sense that we do groceries as well as all other product.)

http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/8411/supertargetlgtu3.jpg
This isn't the one I work at, but it looks similar to this one.

I'm part of what's called the Flow Team.

We get there in the wee hours of the morning to unload the truck. Nothing comes on pallets, so we have a conveyor belt that goes into the truck and the product is offloaded and sent down to us. We separate everything into groups and then take them out to the floor.

Then we "bowl" (have no idea why it's called that) the product into their specific aisles. After this is done we take a break and then "push" the items, which means to stock the shelves. After this is done, we take a lunch and then we work on "pulls" which is back stock that can be used to fill the shelves of product that wasn't ordered.

We work the entire store by ourselves, except for meat, frozen, dairy and produce. Though most of the time we end up doing frozen foods too. It's hard work, but it's actually pretty enjoyable.

Yesterday I was promoted to Supervisor, which basically means I open and close the store, cash up, stock check, refund and exchange, etc etc.

basically I am the boss in all my shifts, as it's only ever 2 people working at one time, and it's always a senior member and a staff member.

it's going to be awesome man, I'll just do what I wantsmile

it is directly next door to my college and I choose my own hours round my college schedule.

it's awesome big grin

only I do like 30 hours of college and 30 hours of work, so it's pretty tiring.

(not my store, obviously - mine's not in a mall)

Worked there for two years, I'm still part-time but I basically know how to do everything to run the store. Unless our district manager pitches a fit (which I don't think he will - he's not even going to be our boss for much longer) I'm going to shortly become third key, which is basically assistant manager without the title.

Which will be great for the sheer fact that I can tell other people to deal with customers, as I'd really rather deal with inventory stuff and that sort of thing stick out tongue

Mairuzu
Oh yea forgot to mention that as well..

I work at a place I choose not to disclose.

I work at level I IT support. It is known as the help desk according to ITIL, but we do more than ITIL calls for. The real world term would be a remote depot technician. My job calls me a Network Administrator Level II because I am technically an admin and never physically touch the computers to fix them. I reset passwords, dole out rights, delete accounts, fix software, trouble shoot hardware over the phone, etc. Pretty much anything you could think of IT related that can be done with a remote desktop connection in an Active Directory environment, I do it.
I'm also a tech lead which basically means I'm a know it all(big surprise there, right stick out tongue ) and people go to me for help.

I work a full time job which is 40 hours a week. I'm on salary. The pay is well enough. I wish it were more, but it is really all I could ask for at this time.

I also go to school. I'm going for Cyber Security. I am taking 14 hours this semester...or five classes. It's easy except for one class, which is moderately difficult. It has more rote memorization than any of my pre-med classes, that's for sure. I'll be a CISSO or CIO one day.

The pay is mostly good, quite unreliable at times, but I enjoy it, and I obviously haven't starved. In my freelance work I usually earn anywhere from $800-1,200.00 per show or $65 an hour. When I play with my band and any of the other local bands, the pay is way different, depending if we have sponsors at our sides or not, and if we're on tour, we get anywhere from $100-3,000.00 lately we have had an increase in our hiring price since there are 23 members in the band for now.

And that's what I do, dress up as a goat and enjoy myself as much as possible, besides attending college in hopes of majoring in business/management.

silver_tears
I work at Home Outfitters, kind of like a Pottery Barn. I only do it when I'm not in school, and then for the rest of the time I'm on leave to be a student. The pay is shit, but it's not very difficult and it's easy to pass the time. Essentially I spend my days selling overpriced sheets to old people.

Mine's good enough to pay the bills, take care of my wife and two kids with all of their needs, and still have money left over for reasonable wants. Since I like my job, I'm quite sure it's good. However, it's not "really really good". I have no idea what a "really really good job" is. Is it money? Is it prestige? I make more money after the degree...but I will never earn prestige in cyber security.

I always call bullshit when people say stuff like that. The truth is, if you have a good grasp of the English language, you don't even have to think about using good grammar - it's pretty much instinctual.

I'm a University student, but I work part time in a pub/bottle shop. I love my job, it pays nearly double that retail does, cuz we fall under the hospitality pay rates. Also, because it isn't technically retail, and most of the customers are already a drink or two in to their evenings, you don't have to try to kiss up their ass like in a lot of retail or sales situations. We're open late, so the hours fit in well around Uni and training.
