MARVEL HAS A STRENGTH SCALE (MAY NOT BE PERFECT) BUT DC REFUSES TO SET A STANDARD FOR IT'S CHARACTERS. DOES THIS BOTHER ANYONE BUT ME?

They both have had their roleplaying games aside from comics...and thats where Marvel started theirs...DC has had one also(maybe 2 ?) and it has a comparable chart....

For instance.....

Hulk is rated Unearthly(100 tons)....and gets stronger....from the marvel system back int he day...the rules also allow for a 3 column shift with more difficulty's hulk starts at 100 and can try for 500 tons....and gets stronger

Superman in the DC roleplaying..is at 200 tons and with successes(DC rule)he can try for 750-1000 tons...

Thats from my memory of both systems.....dont try and argue these points here on the boards..roleplaying games are not canon evidence.

But only Marvel has transferred their system to its comic books and only minorly at that...but those with knowledge of both...can see that they tried...

Strength levels vary wildly. Not setting them in stone actually makes things easier. Marvel's causes more controversy than stability among people who know the characters well, because the levels are either completely wrong, or refuted by various scans one way or another. And anything beyond about 100 tons is just guesswork. If we had an exact level for, say, Superman, writers would have less freedom, and there would also be feats that refute the level, since comics aren't absolute with their power levels. It would accomplish nothing.

Anyway, soapbox griping thread, which isn't allowed. He's entitled to his opinion though.
