I just wish I could agree with her though...

Also, Kurt Vonnegut.

Darth Exodus
Friedrich Nietzsche.
Sun Tzu
Machiavelli
Dexter Morgan- even though he's fictional. So I guess that one go's to the author instead. Changed how I looked at morality in any case.

I've always found serial killers inspirational and (in Dexter's case at least) much easier to identify with and take the perspective of then normal people.

Aspie actually. But it's really just a few steps away from sociopath.

But it does require a lot of creativity to do anything useful with.

EDIT: Well, there's killing people I suppose.

I see that as a valuable challenge, not a threatening annoyance.

Inimalist's father inspired you? Well, in a totally unrelated, complete stranger sort of way by raising a son who posted said inspiration, thus kindling in myself fond recollection of he who sired me.

I'd go so far as to say he's inspired me. Between his books, articles, magazine (Skeptic) that he is chief editor of and the myriad services and functions they provide, all of which has influenced me greatly. But more than that, the fact that he can be such a rational, level-headed free-thinker who doesn't inspire the polarization in his adherents/detractors like Richard Dawkins or anyone cut from his ilk, is a charming example of what we can aspire to. Along with my aforementioned hero, Joseph Campbell, he's shown me what I want to be like as both an intellectual and a human.

Not to say that I dislike Dawkins' work, btw. I enjoy it and agree with most of it. He's just not really a viable model for life. He's an antagonistic figurehead.

Shermer's also a libertarian atheist who writes brilliantly. If he had boobs, he'd be my soul-mate.

No one's ever really inspired me, never had a reason to look for inspiration. I have been told many times before I am an inspiration due to the fact that I've achieved so much regardless of my disability.

Didn't mean to belittle you. Just looking for some humor.

I'm glad you have inspired others.

....

So far I'm up to Joseph Campbell, Michael Shermer, and Charles Shultz. In that order. I'd add more, but they'd be on the fringes of my life's influences. Literary or musical influences, for example. Inspirations? Only loosely.

Symmetric Chaos
How Shultz?

Through his work. Peanuts is a remarkable manifesto on the dignity of the human spirit, and the value and beauty of life's simple pleasures.

Oh, don't suppose you have a casefile you could share? Well, in general. I have Osteo Genesis Imperfecta and everytime a disabled fan attends my shows, I usually break up a mosh pit just to allow them a front row seat. I let them know that oen can do much more than what they're told to do, or think they can achieve. A young disabled girl in her mid teens saw my show and she wrote me a letter tellin' me how I inspired her go out there, socialize and form a band of her own.
