One lightsaber for Maul only. This takes place on Mustafar.

Maul. He is one of the best lightsaber combatants of his time.

Sora Bulq. He has mastered vapaad and has actually shown some force ability. He was thought to be equal to mace right up to when mace beat him.

He also has experienced and that his form VII is more advanced/refined than juyo.

I don't agree. I think maul would win due to his skill in lighsaber combat.

Maul. He's powered by pain and hatred, like Sion but on a lower scale.

Maul's not only Juyo. He combine many combat forms including Teras Kasi with Juyo to "complete" it.

His Saber mastery exceeded Yoda and he got tooled by Dooku with tholme's assistance

Technical ability. He surpassed yoda in technical ability, but not in pure dueling ability. Yoda is faster, and that makes a huge difference.

So what's the point of bringing Bulq's technical skill here, if it's useless in pure dueling ability ?

I didn't say it was useless, I was saying that it did not make him > Yoda. Mizkalage thought that he'd caught me in an inaccuracy. He had not. I was explaining the difference between Skill and power. Yoda has both. Anakin's Power > Bulq even in AotC. There can be no doubt that he is not able to defeat Bulq until RotS.

In a duel, frequently Skill > raw power, because power is difficult to apply effectively. Look at Mace vs. Vastor. Kar Vastor is vastly more powerful with the Force, but Mace destroys him. Skill matters.

You realise as well that Bulq has mastered every form including one that maul has not.

He is also skilled with the force so he is greater than maul.

Plus Vapaad. Against Maul, it'll be rather effective.

It is doubtful that in technical skill Sora>Yoda. Why? because Yoda>everyone in the PT Jedi Order, like LOTF Luke> NJO. The Grand Master is the premier duelist of the era, Sora can't compare. Point is I don't see Sora winning here, he is a master of Vappad, but as Windu said Vappad mastered him. He will never best Yodanever

mhm go to Maul vs episode III obi wan and read the description on technical skill. Anoon>yoda in technical skill. Yoda is the most skilled with the force which enhances his dueling prowess. If yoda had less force sensetivity the quality of his duelling would decrease significantly because it feuls his atari style.

Give Sora the same force ability as yoda, and his saber skill would cause him to surpass yoda.

Yoda>everyone in the pt era because of his FORCE ABILITY. Just like sideous can use a saber quite profeciently but what makes him great is his FORCE ABILITY.

Technical skill means how good they are with a saber technically. But at this point you are not making a valid argument because:
has no validity to it whatsoever. even if you are talking about sora vs yoda.

I must confess that I never understood how someone who has "lightsaber skills second to none" was beat in a lightsaber combat... Unless of course that was just an hyperbole and we shouldn't use it as literally as it was wrote...

I might be getting mixed up, but wasn't he called (the) 'most skilled in the order'? The order includes Yoda. I don't have the source material so I may be mistaken.


Also: Maul has only one saber- he is handicapped. Maul at full strength > Bulq. But not by much. I'd say that in pure lightsaber ability, Bulq would win, but in a fight, Maul would take the majority.

Yeah, but Maul should be just fine with a lightsaber. Just like Bulq, Maul has mastered all saber forms (New Essential Guide to Characters says that Maul had 'mastered the lightsaber'), and dominates him in the MA department. Not to mention that Bulq's Vaapad is different from Mace and Depa's. His is a one-handed style, meaning less power behind his strikes. Maul should certainly be stronger, him being in his prime and pushing his physical and Force-assisted abilities to 'the utmost.' Bondara was more than likely superior to Bulq in saber skills, and Maul got the better of him pretty easily. He also outclassed Darth Effing Vader with a blade. Two saber blades in each of those battles, but from TPM we know he can handle one just fine.

Doesn't really matter, as other quotes note him as having 'unparalleled skill' as a duelist.

Yeah really, Sora was good, but not as good as Maul.
