Instead of talking about them in here since there are seperate topics on some films you listed.

Martyrs is the one I am looking forwards to the most, suppose to be rather good, and very very disturbing(mentioned it in a few topics on here, same for La Horde(see Romero's topic for information I put up in there)

A trailer is out for Mutants.

I am waiting to get released of those movies.... just i am fan of watching horror movies....

MildPossession
Martyrs is out on dvd in America in April sometime I believe, earlier in France. I'll be getting the French edition.

Haute Tension (Swichblade Romance in UK) was excellent as well.
I loved Cecile De France in this movie.

I am about to watch Á l'intérieur.

Also, Marthyrs is one sick, disturbing movie. It is a brilliant movie and I recomend it fully, but it is disturbing. Very disturbing.

MildPossession
Oo how did you get to see it? I'm jealous stick out tongue

Movie was being shown at Frightfest in London in August last year, which is where I saw it.

My friend is a HUGE fan of Clive Barker, so she wanted to see Midnight Meat Train, especially since she was reading the Books of Blood at the time, so I saw that move too.
I wasn't that impressed with it, but I will read the short story.

lil bitchiness
Also, I remember the posters for The Strangers which were all over Underground at the time, and I really wanted to see that movie too, but I heard it wasn't as good, so I never bothered.

MildPossession
The Strangers is nothing special imo.

Yeah saw it was shown at Fright Fest, got to wait for the dvd.

One thing I like being in Canada now is all the American (Canadian and US) movies, I get to see before the Europeans!!
But the European movies, I have to wait for.

Even wasn't shown in America for ages after it was released, from what I heard.

lil bitchiness
I just looked for at the Martyrs on Wiki - it looks like there will be an American re-make!

Not sure....about it. Maybe.

Have you seen Á l'intérieur?
If not, you must ASAP!
I am writing a review about it in the Foregin movie section.

deathbycorn
Inside is top notch horror.

MildPossession
Yep seen Inside, in my dvd collection. Fabulous horror from the French.

I'm not surprised Martyrs is getting a remake, nearly everything outside of America is...

The Pack

This is another highly anticipated French horror film. Overlook Entertainment were at Filmart promoting the film which stars Philippe Nahon in the lead. Supposedly the the creature designs are stunning and the script is very splattery.

Just a tiny bit on one that has been mentioned.

deathbycorn
Er, its in the top post why post it again.

*in MP voice*

MildPossession
I did say it was already mentioned... I added a tiny bit more information to just a title/poster.

lil bitchiness
I'm excited about the upcoming movies! As far as Hollywood goes, I really want to see Drag Me To Hell.
Return of the 80s horror! yey!

I anticipate to see french interpretations of monster/zombie genre.

MildPossession
See Mutants. smile

I didn't bother with the Mutants teaser trailer link above, but just saw the full length trailer and it looks excellent. The poster above doesn't do the film justice! Got a nice 28 Days/Weeks Later vibe going for it. It's one I look forwards to.

deathbycorn
La Horde will be the better French Zombie film.

MildPossession
It may well be. I'll wait till I've seen both.

I haven't watched these yet, so don't know if they are subtitled or not.

Just pop it in here since it's from French film makers. There is a new film from the Inside directors starting production soon called LIVID, English language film this time around:

It’s young Lucy’s first day as a trainee in-house caregiver. She visits Mrs Jessel, an old woman who lies in cerebral coma, by herself, in her large desolate house. Learning by accident that Mrs Jessel, a former dance teacher of repute, supposedly possesses a treasure somewhere in the house, Lucy and friends William and Ben decide to search the house in the hope of finding it. At night, they get into the house, which reveals itself to be increasingly peculiar. Their hunt for Mrs Jessel’s treasure leads them into a horrifying supernatural series of events that will change Lucy forever.

There is a poster out already on the internet, got a nice Dario Argento vibe going.

BackFire
I just watched Martyrs. Very impressive. Really unique and very powerful.

MildPossession
If you look around, they are offering the score music to Martyrs free to download legally, I got mine yesterday. Some good tracks.

Trailer for Vertige.

They have made a big mistake choosing that piece of Classical music, O Fortuna... makes it look incredibly cheesy.

Exactly what I thought. It actually appeared very Descentish and Vertical Limitish to me.
But I liked the fact that the trailer, although cheesy tells me nothing of the movie.

And I agree with you, Mild, the trailer music is somewhat cheesy, but it looks really well done nonetheless.
I'll be checking this one out.

I'm expecting French movies to be released here in Montreal quicker than in US. Well...hoping.

deathbycorn
It looks like a backwoods flick cross with Vertical Limit.

I'm hoping for something like The Hills Have Eyes meets Vertical Limit.

Now thats a movie!

MildPossession
Yeah, it's a shame with the music choice, looks like it is actually quite good but the music seems to bring it down to cheese level in my eyes and that might turn people off who go with their final say via the trailer and not bother with it, when it might turn out to be a decent addition.

From like the first 2 minutes of the trailer it looked like a comedy....

Watched 'Martyrs' today.

Ending was genius. Was not expecting that.

First one hour of the film was great, then it just got better.

'Martyrs' related

Lucie and Anna were lesbian? I'm reading on imdb, and I never got that vibe from the film. I thought since they grew up together that they were more like sisters/best friends.

MildPossession
There was a kiss between them in the bathroom scene that Anna initiated but Lucie pulled away, she loved Lucie and would do anything for her, they were extremely close from growing up together under such circumstances. I think Anna loved her in that way, but don't think Lucie felt the same.

MildPossession
It's showing how close they are, why someone would help someone in such an extreme way, going through all they do in the film. Have to have strong feelings for someone to help like that. That's what I got and thought it was integral to the film, not just added in like some films do.

What did you think about the ending. What do you think Anna say to Mademoiselle?

I got the sense that Anna basically said something along the lines of that there is an afterlife, filled with things that are unimaginable, but since the Mademoiselle was such a piece of shit, she would never see it, and probably end up in an abyss.

or

That there is no afterlife, but if that was the case, Mademoissle would have not killed herself.

What was your take?

deathbycorn
my take on the ending of Martyrs is that there is no afterlife so the old lady knew that living the rest of her life is a waste of time because there is nothing after life.

MildPossession
^ What he said, that's more or less what I was thinking. Or she did actually see something but decided to lie to the woman.

plus it seemed like Anna gave a long speech in that state.

edit: anyway, doesn't matter. great film

Quebec festival, Fantasia 2009 is starting tomorrow, and it is showing Mutants on the 15th of July, and I will be attending. I'm so excited!

Tickets go on sale on 7th of July, and are $8, which is hella cheap.

Can't wait!
I will report back on the review.

MildPossession
I hate you. stick out tongue Have fun!

lil bitchiness
Heh stick out tongue

And, did I mention Books of Blood is also showing?! Oh my god, its like Frightfest - a good French movie and Clive Barker!! Last time it was Martyrs and Midnight Meat Train, this year its Mutants and Books of Blood.

I do hope they made a good movie out of that, otherwise I shall be extremely disappointed and unamused!
